Excursions

Ok I'm thinking of going on the 7 night Western cruise (have already done the 4 day cruise). Anyone have any ideas/information on the best excursions to go on or anyone suggest not going on any trips? I really want to go to the ruins in Cozumel. Has anyone done this alone or been on the tour offered on the cruise as the beach part of the trip doesn't appeal to me and you seem to be there for a long period of time?
