Has anyone booked the excursions to Versailles or the Paris day or evening tours through DLP recently?

It looks like it might be a good deal - since it includes the cost of the transportation. If we book in advance, the kids are free, so that would be great! Wondering how the timing is especially on the Versailles trip.
Is it an all day thing?

Any info is much appreciated.

Hi, we did the Paris day tour in July last year. It was a great day, and I think worth the cost. I don't think we'd have seen half of what we did if we'd gone alone.

I have a full review on my trip report Summer at HNY 2011 on my signature.
Hope this helps :)

Thanks! I'm reading your TR for more info too! It sounds like we're going to do some of these things too.

If the Louvre would have been open, would you have had the admission included in your excursion?

Are you able to get off the bus at stops like Notre Dame and go inside, or is this mostly a bus ride around? I had been considering doing an on-off bus tour around Paris to see all the sights. I'm not sure if this is the same thing.

I definitely want to do the evening one as long as there's a stop to get off at the Eiffel Tower for the light show. I'd feel better being chauffeured around the city at night!

Admission wasn't included, and we could only get of the bus at the times i've put in the report. Best thing is the quick entry to the Tower.

We did the evening tour years ago and enjoyed that too. Only stop is at the tower though for about 20 minutes. I find all the facts in the commentary really interesting. :thumbsup2

I've noticed in the new Disneyland Paris brochure that there is information about a day trip to Paris that gives you a whistle stop tour on an open top bus, with free time I think to do as you please. It's called Paris Essentials:

Here's the blurb from the brochure:

'Combine the essential sights of Paris with free time to explore. See the best of Paris with 40 monuments in a flash, in an open-topped double-decker bus with recorded commentary in Engilsh. Enjoy free time for the rest of the day. The coach departs from and returns to Disney's Newport Bay Club and Vienna International Magic Circus.'

Daily departures at 10am and 11am, returning at 6pm and 7pm.

Operated by Taste & Tour

Cost - £39 Adult and £24 Child

I'll be watching this thread with interest. We are going next week(woohoo), with a 7 year old and a nine year old who have both decided that as soon as they come back from Disneyland they are going to start saving all their money for however many years they need to in order to go and see the Eiffel Tower, cause after Disneyland that is their dream!! We are going for 3 nights, but only have park tickets for 3 days, so our first night there we have no plans(except going to bed early to get ready for EMH and moving hotels that they don't know about) Can't find any prices for the evening tour, does anyone have any idea??? Our local travel agents are all out of brochures.

Hi, you can download the brochure on disneylandparis.co.uk, I've also got a paper copy ;)

Prices for the evening tour until 28 March, £41 per Adult and £14 per child. Departs 8pm on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. After 28 March price increases to £47 and £18 and departs 9pm every day except Sunday.

I'm sure they'll love seeing Paris all lit up - it is stunning.

Thats for that Ms Poppins. I'm sure they'd love it, just have to figure if, and when we can make it!! Tuesday night would be best as we are planning on Annettes for dinner late afternoon. The girls don't know yet that we'll be there on the Tuesday night at all. We will be leaving home straight after school on the Monday-so wont be telling them until they get out, then heading to Dublin for the night, so the excitement might be too much, doubt there will be any sleep that night! Have dinner in Inventions booked for Thursday night, but might change that! Would be so much easier if I could tell them :rotfl:

Decisions, decisions :rotfl:

we did the paris evening tour in November. It left hotel new york around 8.30pm if I remember rightly. The highlight of the trip was definatly the 1/2 an hour or so we had at the eiffel tower to see the light show :thumbsup2. I found the commentary really interesting and the whole trip well worth it.

we too did the evening tour. Was well worth it. You see Paris and you don't miss time in Disneyland

do you have to book this in advance? or can you book it when you arrive? i booked online and couldn't figure out how to add it...my son said the night tour is the best option for seeing Paris...said it is stunning at night...and my daughter has always wanted to see the tower lit up... do i just call the resort reservation desk?

You can book it directly at your hotel, no need to do it in advance especially in low season.

:)

we booked in advance over phone just because there was an offer. But I would book in advance. In low season the tour takes place not everyday, I think it was 3 times a week. I don't know if it's the same now.

We are booked at HNY and are going to take the evening Paris tour for certain! How convenient that will be!!
My brochure says that kids are free on some tours if you book before your arrival! So I will be booking at least a little bit before we arrive!

Thinking we'll do at least one other tour - maybe Versailles, but I need to figure out the hours on that one. I'm not sure I'd want to spend a long time there. It might be something we do on our own, and spend some time in the city on the way back to DLP.

Looking more carefully - I see that the Versailles trip leaves at 9:30 and returns at 4:15. hmm, maybe we could do that and the evening tour the same day?

I don't think I have this one in my brochure...just the bus tour with a stop at Eiffel and the evening one, and Versailles. There is one that is a day visit at your own pace that has a day of unlimited travel, but that isn't every day and is not part of the kids free deal. You do get the Louvre and a Seine boat ride. I'll have to double check when I get home.

This sounds like a great way to get some Paris time in your trip. Thanks for sharing!

I was able to connect to the Sequoia concierge through DVC Member services today and the person I spoke to stated that the Versailles trip is not busy, so it could be booked upon our arrival ( June 10! woo hoo!) But he stated the Paris trips are busy and suggested I book in advance with Disney reservations. He gave me two French phone numbers.

Does anyone know if I can reach reservations without incurring an overseas call charge? Or if DLP resort offers a toll-free phone number for US visitors to call?

Thanks!!
