Had to post, I am so happy!!! :dance3:

I've been researching the cutting machines and decided the Silhouette SD looked good for me, although the cost was making me wait. Well, I have been patient and tonight got a good price on a new one on E-Bay -- $117 which included S&H, the Home Decore CD, and a $25 gift card on their online store for additional downloads.

I think I will be spending the weekend searching the web for tutorials.

And in a week the kids will go back to school and I can work on my two swaps with my new toy!!! I can't wait to Weld!!!

Any hints about sites for help or tutorials would be much appreciated!

Thanks for sharing in my joy :grouphug:

Congrats!!! Welcome to the Sil Side.

I have the Original Sil. The best tutorials I have found are by Frank Vento, a certified Sil instructor. He takes you step-by-step through different processes.

The dvd's are $15 each. I have three of them. He starts at "Out of the Box" - which even though I had my Sil for a few weeks really helped me.

You can get his dvd's through ShopRememberWhen.com

And, if you are wondering, yes you CAN cut Disney items with your Sil - you just need to find the sites and/or directions on how to create them.

BuzzBellMom (see her post above) and I made an incredible Harry Potter decal for my son's backpack using her Sil. I'd post a pic, but I can't figure out how. :( Anyway, the Sil is awesome.

That's right! You can create ANYTHING with my Sil - and a friend full of ideas!

Let's see if I can post it correctly

Wow - I don't know if you made me feel better or just made me feel totally helpless! :rotfl2:

That is an awesome jacket! I have spent part of today looking at stuff online and playing with the software that I downloaded. Now I just need my machine so I can really get my hands dirty.

A scrap store near us is having a class mid September -- I might go to that. And thanks for the tip about the tutorial CDs. I can see how this machine has a lot of untold potential and I would like to find as much of it as I can!
