We booked our Disney trip a couple of weeks ago and points are paying for half of the trip. When we booked the trip there was no mention to us of the dining plan. I was going to call Disney and get them to tack it on, but decided to check with our visa company first about adding them on. They told us it would be an extra $460 based on what we already paid - which seemed great as to pay for the 7 days for the 4 of us was going to cost over $750. Well they told us $300 of it was for a cancellation fee as they were cancelling and rebooking our trip. We decided to see if they'd work with us, as had they mentioned anything about the dining plan option we would have jumped on it then. Luckily after much discussion, they agreed to wave the $300 - so to add on the dining plan is only going to cost us an additional $145 for the week - woohoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm confused :confused3 . What does your visa company have to do with Disney and booking ddp?

We have reward points with our Visa gold card - through our visa company we booked the trip to disney - our points paid half the balance of the trip and we paid the other half. This visa has a company that they book the packages through who charge $75/person to adjust bookings. Does that make sense?

Yes, perfect sense. We have a mastcard worldpoints card that we use but we use the points only for airfare.

It was great saving half the cost. The only issue was that they really didn't know alot about the travel details as they aren't a travel agency, just a points department. I had to do alot of the research myself and they wouldn't let me book the trip as dh is the primary card holder (even though they have issued me a card in my name). So he would phone, then I'd have to phone back and verify everything and have them save the details and then he'd have to phone back and finalize. In the end it was worth it for the savings though. Even if we did have to pay the penalty, it still would have been less money then phoning Disney and having them add it on. We are thrilled with the savings!

Did they apply any discount codes to the reservation for you such as AAA or the Disney public codes?

I have no idea - but I priced it out on the Disney website and it appears I'm paying less - the priciest part of the trip was the airfare - as flying from Canada is a small fortune - that took up more then half the cost!
