Exchanging credits?

I know the official answer to this is no, but I wondered if anyone has any recent experience with exchanging TS credits for CS meals? It seems to vary, in that sometimes they will let you do that and sometimes they won't, no real rhyme or reason. We haven't been in a while so I wasn't sure what the latest trend is. :confused3

We're going in Sept-Oct and we're DVC members. We are buying the DDP for the adults and our older daughter. Member services offered to let us buy the DDP for our 2 year old, but since she'd eat free at the character meals anyway, we're not sure if the DDP is worth it. The deciding factor would probably be if they'd still let us convert her TS to CS meals, and they'd make for nice snacks for all of us to share on some off days.

TIA!

If that's the deciding factor, I would recommend against the Dining Plan. I'd hate for you to make a decision based on a few anecdotal positive experiences, and then encounter the practically inevitiable obstacle which we know is out there, though perhaps even rare.

The one-TS-for-one-CS exchange has been a variable thing not just recently, as you indicated, but quite consistently variable all the way through, since the beginning, except for free dining last year, when they specifically announced a standing exception to the rules (which they haven't done this year).

In May we were able to exchange our one last child's TS meal for a Child's CS meal at Captin Cooks (Poly)....No, we did not share a meal, we had a 9 year old that had had too much "junk" that day and she ended up not wanting to eat when we sat down for our evening meal. We bought a drink OOP for her and she colored. To exchange, I simply asked politely if it would be possible to exchange them since it was our last day and we would not be using it otherwise...it saved us having to pay OOP for one kid's meal on our last day. I think it depends on the place and the CM...it never hurts to ask. Also, I have read that you can sometimes ask them at the front desk of your resort to convert the TS meals to CS and they will can do so....again, I think it depends on the CM. HOWEVER, once they are converted, I know they cannot be changed back to TS...and they must be used for children's CS meals.
