I would post a picture of Carol's dress but I don't remember how. We're going shopping again tomorrow. Seems that while she really likes this dress, she wouldn't mind check a few more stores out.

Oh dear, I spy things to come for me and my shopoholic oldest DD! :lmao:

If you were to cook something from scratch, what would it be?

My DH and I (yes he cooks and he's great at it:thumbsup2 ) do a lot of cooking at home. Not to say from time to time DH and I go out for dinner and the kids get take out,but most all our meals are made from scratch. My favorite type of all to cook is Italian. I'm half Italian and my DH was born in Rome. Needless to say there are some great family recipes!!! ;) So there is a lot of pasta dishes in this house! :rotfl: :sad2: Love to make sauce and meatballs and dishes like lasagna, chicken broccoli and ziti and pizza. And those deserts::cloud9: like tiramisu, lemon ricotta cake, Italian almond cookies.............. These dishes are not so good for the waistline:scared1: but taste too good to resist!!!!!:lmao: :rotfl:

Most of my meals are made from scratch. We do tend to go out for dinner once a week, but the rest of the time we eat at home. Kirby making mac and cheese is very easy. Cook up a bunch of elbow macaroni, and after it's cooked and drained add a bunch of shredded cheddar or mozzarella cheese while the noodles are still hot. Have done this on occassion for the kids and they love it. Have a great day everyone!!

Trish
Thanks! I'll have to try that.

I've ordered room service once in my life--I was with my 2 yr old nephews (their mom & dad had gone out for the night) so I ordered grilled cheese sandwiches. I knew they wouldn't finish them, but they each wanted their own sandwich. So I ate the leftovers--very glamorous, huh? but I have to admit, I'm such a cheapskate that I wouldn't want to pay the inflated price for the food! I'd probably go to the gift shop & grab a bag of pretzels & a bottle of soda.

I think almost everything I cook is from scratch. I make my own spaghetti sauce, I love to make soup, I love to bake. I don't always have time to make stuff, but I try to make as much as possible from scratch.

Kirby, my mom made the best mac & cheese. Not as easy as Belledozer's, but all she did was make a white sauce (butter, flour, milk), added grated extra sharp cheddar until it melted, then poured it over cooked elbows. Then she'd sprinkle bread crumbs on top, then baked for a while. It was excellent. I want to try to make it, but making white sauce scares me. My nieces love mac & cheese from the box (I do too), and I've been promising them the 'real' mac & cheese just like Grandma Marge made it. (my older niece was 2 when my mom died, her younger sister was born the year after.) One of these days, I'm going to do it!

White sauce is easy! If you let it thicken, you can use it as gravy for chicken fried steak. Yum!! Both recipes sound great!

Missy, that is the way I make mac and cheese too.
Can't stand that boxed stuff......and we add things to it sometimes too....like broccoli or on occasion hot dogs (goes back to the scout days).

Are you able to go to sleep even though you are hungry? If not, then what would you munch on?

I prefer not to go to sleep hungry so if I'm peckish before bed I'll have a little cereal or toast.

We have never done room service.

We rarely eat out, I love to cook and bake so all meals are from scratch. I do like the boxed mac and cheese, but have made it myself also.

We never go to bed hungry, John will have a 1/2 bowl of cereal and I will have some peanut butter bread.

My mac and cheese recipe, remember though I am only feeding two people.

1 lb. elbow noodles
2 packages Cracker Barrel cheese, 1 - sharp, 1 - extra sharp
Milk

Cut your cheese into 1" slices, while cooking the noodles to al dente.

Layer half the noodles in a 1 quart casserole dish, top with slices of cheese. Add the rest of the noodles and top with cheese, you will have extra cheese. Tuck the rest of the cheese around the sides of the dish.

Pour in milk, about 1/4 of the way full.

Bake at 400º until hot and bubbly, stirring occasionally.

Are you able to go to sleep even though you are hungry? If not, then what would you munch on?

Would rather go to bed a little hungry because if I eat the wrong thing right before I go to bed than I'm usually woken up in the middle of the night with a nasty case of indigestion!!! :scared1: If I can't wait than I'll usually have a piece of fruit, a small bowl of cereal or toastl!:)

OK, one of these days, I'm going to be brave & make mac & cheese like my mom!!

Mmmmm, another mac and cheese recipe to try!

I don't like to go to bed hungry but I try not to eat anything within an hour or so before bedtime. I have GERD and a hiatal hernia. It can get pretty uncomfortable at times if I don't watch what I eat.
