I don't own a crockpot.
What is your most favorite crockpot dish?

I have a budding entomologist in DS13. Years ago we started a garden to attract butterflies and therefore caterpillars. Nothing. So I turned it into an herb garden. Who knew that would do the trick?I had recently seen these blueish like smaller butterflies at our house. I really liked seeing those, as well as the yellow ones since they are not usually found here. So, todays QOTD is-
What type of butterflies do you have in your area? Any unusual ones?

Love my crockpot.......cook a lot of different things in it.
All meats come out so tender.
So a variety of chicken dishes, soups, beef, pork.
I know DH's likes the roast done in it.
Do you have a recipe that you could share?I don't use my crock pot much. I have started cooking pork tenderloin in it recently and really like that. Joe does too.
Get one, and we can share tips with each other while trying to figure out how to use the crockpotsI don't own a crockpot, but I've been thinking about buying one.
My mom has a pressure cooker that she received as a gift, but she has never used it.I do not own a crock pot either, I am not really familiar with them. My grandparents used to use a stove top pressure cooker which is the nearest things I have seen but it completely different if that makes sense? LOL!
I will have to try making chili in it. Do you just brown the meat first, then add everything in, and simmer?I love my crock pot!!!Use it quite a bit! My family's favorite meal I make in it is chili!!
Nothing like the blend of flavors and the tenderness of the meat after 8-10 hours slow cooking in the pot! So easy to cook in, just a one pot meal and soooo easy to clean up!
This is one clean up no one fights over who's turn it is to do the dishes!!!

I highly recommend it!!

My crockpot came in the mail today, so I will try it out soon. Does anyone have any tips on making a corned beef using the crockpot?
Thank you.I start with Carroll Shelby's chili kit (looks like a brown bag) or any chili kit that is carried by a market in your area! Each kit is enough for 2 lbs. of ground beef.
Here's where you can get creative!! In addition to browning the 2 lbs of ground beef, we add either a top eye round roast or 2 pieces of london broil (cubed small and browned as well).
When all the meat is browned, add it to the crock pot. Since the chili kit is enough for only 2 lbs of meat we add another kit to the mix (since we've added a roast or london broil). You'll need 2 15oz. cans of tomato sauce and a can of water (use the tomato sauce can as your guide).
The kit comes with masa (corn flour) to thicken the chili (if needed) and we use this sparingly. This, of course, also depends on how you like your chili--thick or thin. Also, the kit doesn't specify this BUT we always add a 15oz. can of black beans (or pinto) to the chili (or you can omit the beans).
Cook on high for 30mins, then low for 7.5 hours (8 hours total) ... the timing makes for a great overnight cook for next day mid-day meal or you can start it in the morning for that night's dinner! In either case, this is a great one-pot hearty meal and over time you can begin to experiment with other ingredients that you'd like to try. We've tried adding the following meats with our chili:
-- sausage meat (sweet or hot, depending on taste),
-- kielbasa,
-- other cuts of meat.
As for condiments, we always have the following ready:
-- sour cream,
-- chopped onion,
-- jalapenos,
-- shredded cheese (cheddar, colby jack or any mexican mix will do),
-- lots of tortilla chips
If you try this recipe OR you try it and add anything new, let me know! I'd love to hear how it turns out.![]()
Enjoy!![]()

An ice cream sundae sounds good right now, as well as a nice comfy bed.If we order room service we usually do so after a night in the parks and are too tired to move. It's usually so late(for heavy meals) that we just get the lightest items on the menu, grilled cheese, salads, club sandwiches or maybe just apps. I can't go to bed with all that heavy food on my stomach!!
Or maybe just an ice cream sunday!!

That's light and soothing to the stomach, right??

Can we see a picture of it?Just large chunks of pork tenderloin, sprinkle with onion salt. Add a can of cream of mushroom soup and a can of water. Cook on low for 8 hours and serve over rice.
I've never ordered room service before. We've always thought it was too expensive. We just look at the menu and talk about what we would order. But if I did, it would all depend on my mood as to what I would order.
OT - we shopped for Carol's prom dress yesterday and actually found one. Of course, it took all day. We made a spur of the moment stop on the way home after a day of shopping and found a zebra print that she fell in love with.
I'm not home now, Patsy, so I don't have access to my recipes.
I have a wide variety of recipes for chicken......pork chops several ways, pork tenderloin, cubed beef for stew, and other dishes and roast beef.
When using ground beef I always brown first.
I love, love cake from one tooA hot pudding cake is favorite, but I have also done apple cake.
Got a pressure cooker when I got married, but rarely used it. I was afraid it would explode!!
Room service,.....never been tempted at a restaurant. I am too cheap
On cruises it is great!!
