Happy Halloween!!!

QOTD-10/31

What are you doing to celebrate Halloween?

Will be carving 2 pumpkins this morning. My older son has an assembly at his school, so will wearing his dinosaur costume to school. Afterwards will go to one of the local malls and take the kids trick or treating. The weather is rainy here, so it makes better sense to take them to the malls. Might take the kids briefly out close by where our friends live for a little trick or treating. Personally I hate Holloween, but my husband and the kids love it, so I put up with it for them. I'd rather embrace the Christmas traditions any day over Holloween. Have a spooky day!!

Going to a pep rally. Since it's Halloween, all goings on will be Halloween related. The cheerleaders are doing their usual "Thriller" routine. This year the colorguard is performing. They are going to be black widows with black and red facepaint. That's all Carol will tell me. Should be interesting. Then it's on to the football game tonight.

So, with all the candies that your kids had recieved from Halloween, when they were younger, or with the leftover candies...what do you do with them? Are your kids able to eat all of them, do you donate some of them,.....?

If your kids had gone trick or treating, did they recieve something different then the regular typical smaller candies?

Both of my boys got close to 5lbs of Holloween candy each (at least that's what the bags feel like):scared1: . I went to the mall for the first round of trick or treating, as the weather was supposed to be rainy. We decided to take them out later in the evening to an good, safe area close to where we live, and they made out like theives. I limit it to a small amount each day, and what's leftover after 3 weeks magically disappearspixiedust: . They received for the most part the usual fair, at least for here, but they also received a colouring book and a small pkg of crayons, which was a nice change. They can never eat all that they got trick or treating, that's why after 3 weeks I throw it out. Have a great evening!:goodvibes

My kids had gotten alot of candy from family, friends, school, and from trick or treating. I had seperated it today, and even with the help of others, we will not be able to finish everything. Things usually get tossed out after awile.

What is your most favorite way to have your potato prepared? Ex. Mashed, baked, potato salad....?

I have not yet ever met a potato presentation i did not like! So yes to all of the above and then some lol ;)

What was your most favorite childhood story, song, or rhyme?
My mother used to sing a little song to us and of course we, being kids, got it all mixed up. Here's what we thought she was singing:

Mare si doats and doe si doats and little lamb si divvy.
Skittle de divvy do wouldn't you?
Skittle de divvy do wouldn't you?

It really goes:

Mares eat oats and does eat oats and little lambs eat ivy.
A kid will eat ivy too, wouldn't you?
A kid will eat ivy too, wouldn't you?

Where she learned that song, I have no idea. Just something from her childhood.

I love potatos fixed about any way but without garlic.

If you were to think of the future...what do you think you would be doing in ten years?

Hmmm...let's see. Hopefully will have restored my 69 Buick Skylark 4 dr by then. The kids would be in Grades 9 and 10. Probably would have moved by then into a bigger place. Have many more big toys ( hubby loves to collect old iron) in the backyard. Our greyhounds would have passed on by then, and would have 2 more greyhounds. Quite a few more grey hairs from the kids. And our house would have been moved to Mayne Island by then, and fully finished. That's about all I can think of at the moment. Have a greyt day!!

Ten years. . .mmm... DD finished college, got married and at least 1 grandchild for me to spoil. DS just finished his college and is engaged and DH and I are enjoying a quiet house and traveling after he retired.

Ten years from now I see myself working a full time job outside the house. Joe and I will travel around the country a little bit. I can even see a grandchild or two with a trip to Disney World.

Our dorthodontist pays his patients to turn it in (per pound)! :rotfl2: Not that mine do...we have so much. It lasts a long time because I don't let them just eat it constantly. I said I was going to make cookies with some chunks of candy--and DH replied "yea, that's what we need on top of all the candy...cookies!" :goodvibes

My Baba made them roasted, but they weren't hard just crispy on the outside and soft ont he inside....yum! Never have perfected it.

Don't know where it started, but Bing Crosby sang it way back when :goodvibes

Do you know someone that is famous?

No. But there are a few famous people who grew up in my town that went to my tiny high school. Francis McDormand, boxer Michael Moorer. And Coolio lived there for a while.
Not too exciting, is it? haha
