At home we have a heat pump that can be turned to cool when it gets hot, which is only a couple of times over a summer. Otherwise just open windows, we have moderate temps most of the time.
here in AZ, central air....they have it set at 77 and it is fine.

No recipes here, my files are at home on my computer.

::yes:: ADisneygirl, you can not survive the Florida weather w/o A/C.
Trying to keep ours set around 76 but, DS is always complaining it is
too hot

For a quick, cool summer dinner I pick up a couple bags of Caesar Salad (the kit that includes everything) and a rotissiere chicken and we are good to go.

Hi Nancy!

Do you enjoy going to the movies? What type of movies, do you like to watch, and what type of snacks do you usually get at the concession stand?

We don't go to movies all that often any longer. Most of today's movies are very predictable. Not enough creative writing in movies now.
I like comedies, mysteries and some Disney of course.
But movie mysery equates to blood, gore, and guts. I prefer more of the implied Hitchcock type. Which there are none. :rotfl: So that settles that.
I don't like seeing images of living things decapitated, beat, stabbed, shot, etc. I am just odd that way. ;) :confused3
And often the movie theatres mean dealing with a lot rude or irrtating people. (Cell phones, non-stop talking, seat kickers, people coughing on me/DH, etc. Sounds enjoyable, huh? And I would pay money for that why? )
Getting so we REALLY have to want to see a movie to go to the theatres any more.
I don't want to watch sappy love stories. Too often a love interest in thrown in movies where it is not necessary or fit.
Using Jurassic Park as an example, was a hoot. A friend and I made fun of it al the way through. It was ridiculous.
So I guess I like something more believable too. But loved all the Pirates movies. (Not believable at all. :rotfl2: )
I guess they had a nice blend of storyline, action, comedy, and a hint of not so much as romance, but almost soap opera. (Who is doing what, or will be doing what, with whom? :rolleyes1 :rotfl: )

DH always buys popcorn.
If I get anything I like the kiddie packs. Those are great for me. :wizard:

Only go to the movies for the kids and that is not so often anymore. Didn't see any of the Pirate or Potter movies in the theather. Waiting for DVD just works better for us.
We do always buy the popcorn & soda when we do go.

We do enjoy going to the movies. So far this year we have seen Meet the Robinsons in 3D, Pirates 3, Ratatouille and HP OOTP. All were excellent movies. DH must have his movie popcorn and a soda to wash it down.

We have tickets (had them for awhile! :goodvibes ) to see HP at the IMAX theater tomorrow!

The last ones we saw were Oceans 13, and POC. I'm letting DH take the boys to see Transformers...I think he'll enjoy it more than me.

We usually get popcorn and drinks. Sometimes I sneak in my own M&Ms. popcorn::

We usually go see family movies. I can't remember the last time DH and I went to the movies alone together. I think it was when I was pregnant with my DD15!!

We took them to see POTC3 and on 4th of July the DDs and I saw Ratatouille and DH and DS saw Transformers. We usually get popcorn, sodas, gummy bears for me and chocolate chip cookie dough bites.

We don't go that often at all. It's just too expensive for 5 people anymore. It's sad because seeing a movie on the big screen is always so cool!!

Kimba

Movie junkie here.
We go almost every weekend. Date time.
I also go sometimes during the week alone to see movies DH doesn't like.
I like action/adventure, suspense, romantic comedy and some scary ones....but not with a lot of gore.
We have gone to the movies twice since I have been in AZ.
We usually only get a drink at the theater, occasionally popcorn.

I love the movies, but I don't get to go as often as I'd like. I really love action/adventure best, movies like Bourne Identity, Mission Impossible, POTC types. Then romance, dramas. I hate most comedies (because they seem dumb) and most horror because they stay with me and my mind is never at ease afterwards!

We have to get movie theater popcorn and a drink when we go.

I have not been to a theater, since Interview with a Vampire was made. I just can't sit still long enough, so waiting until it comes to DVD is best for me.

The few times that I have seen a movie in the theater, I always bought large popcorn (shared with my sister) a soda and some type of chocolate.

I am not a movie person. When I go to the movies, I usually fall asleep, so it is a waste of money for me, and I don't like those uncomfortable chairs. DH usually takes the kids, or my daughter goes with my cousin and her family.

Brandon is 11 months old today, so todays QOTD is birthday related.

As a child, how did you celebrate your birthdays?

Aww.. time flies with babies you know. :cloud9:

As a child I remember my mother always making a family party for me, all my cousins came over, my Aunts, Uncles and grandparents. Once I had a school friend party, and there were two girls in a fight over a prize from pin the tail on the donkey! I still remember that.

We go to the movies every once in a while. Usually for Disney movies..;)

Lately we have seen POTC3 and Ratatoulle.

We normaly do not buy stuff at the theater b/c we go out for pizza afterwards.

As a kid I would choose where I wanted my b-day each year. When I was in the younger stages I always picked Chucke Cheese. :) As I got older U wanted to take friends and go to Carowinds or the mall or something like that.

Patsy, Landon is about to turn 11 months too. It is so hard to get over how fast they are growing up.

:rotfl: Since I am soooo old ;) I mostly had the typical home parties....cake, presents, games like pin the tail on the donkey.
I think once I went to a pancake house :teeth:

My kids had a lot of themed parties.....carnivals, olympics, camping, Christmas in June. Also DD had a lot of sleepovers
And they did the McDonalds, pizza parties, skating/bowling party things too.

My mom was never one for parties, so she would have a cake and maybe and aunt and uncle or 2 over.

 I'm behind!

Since it is the hot summer months, how are you keeping cool?
It hasn't been too bad so far this year. We haven't had a 100 degree day yet as far as I know. Our air on the living room side of the house (we have two units thankfully) has gone out but with a fan positioned just right in the hallway and the ceiling fans on high, it's not that bad.

Do you enjoy going to the movies? What type of movies, do you like to watch, and what type of snacks do you usually get at the concession stand?
Yes, I love going to the movies but only go a couple times a year at best. Joe doesn't care too much to go unless it's a movie that he really wants to see or a special occasion (anniversary, birthday). I like comedys, drama, chick flicks and adventure. Anything that can take me away. Not fond of true story stuff but I did enjoy Pursuit of Happyness. I don't usually get anything at the concession stand because of the expense. I just put a treat in my purse and eat that usually if I'm with my kids. Now if Joe's along, of course we get cokes and popcorn. The last movie I saw was Transformers. Loved it! My son, James, asked me to go with him.

As a child, how did you celebrate your birthdays?
My mom usually baked a cake and we would have relatives over. I had a couple of parties with the neighbor kids. Nothing themed.

Time is passing way too fast!
