The only Christmas shopping I've done so far is buying Hallmark ornaments. I did that back in July for the points.
I did pick something up for Carol when we were in Branson in August. It's the neatest thing, a hair wrap for her hair after she takes a shower. She always tends to walk around with a towel wrapped around her wet hair. This is so light weight and has a loop to tie it down, she'll forget that she has it on.
I'm waiting until December to do my shopping, that way I can give them a gift receipt and if they don't like/want it/doesn't fit, they can return it for something else. They won't have to deal with return restrictions on receipts that are over a month old.
Just remembered, I did get Carol two tickets to see the Trans Siberian Orchestra.
I'd say Joe is the hardest though my sister and her husband are pretty close. Since Joe is in business for himself, tools, yard utensils, etc. are purchased as needed. It's hard to find him something he can't run through the company.
As for my sister, when she was married to her first husband, we bought Angel Tree gifts instead for for each other. Now that she is married to her second husband, he wants to buy gifts for us, forget the other. It was so much easier the other way. I think that this year I will give them tickets to the TSO.
I buy for the four of us, my sister and her husband plus her two grown children, my parents (Joe's have passed on) and my great nieces and nephews. We don't exchange gifts on Joe's side of the family, there are just way too many. The greats are who I buy the ornaments for. But I may have to find a stopping point, I've got nine of them now between three families. As my nieces and nephews get married, there is no telling how many greats I'll end up buying for since there are 13 potential families.
I also do stockings for my kids but will pick up that stuff in December too. And if James still has his girl friend then, I'll stuff a stocking for her too.
