What a coincidence! I was wedding venue shopping yesterday with some friends. One of them has a daughter whose is getting married next year.

I haven't gone to many weddings but nowadays they mostly have the big reception party with a catered meal and dancing. Not so when I got married. Only the wealthy did that then in my area were I grew up.

I did hear from the bride's mom that the average for cost for a wedding here in Rockwall is $36,000.

A wedding I went to last year, the food was a barbeque buffet. It was good. One thing that was different was the bride and groom did not drink alcohol so they had milk to drink with the cake. They had purchased 12 gallons of milk and hardly anyone was drinking it, most were drinking tea or coffee.

At our niece's wedding in June, they had a barbeque buffet also for the meal. It was an outdoor wedding in Arkansas at a resort. It was by the lake and the reception was in a tent, also by the lake at another location nearby. The dance floor was out in the open so you can say we danced under the stars that night.

Since it is the Labor Day weekend, todays QOTD is.....


Do you have any special plans for this weekend? How many of you are still working like usual during this three day weekend? Who will be grilling? Are there any special activities that are happening in your town to celebrate Labor Day?

No special plans for me. I haven't looked at the local paper yet so I don't know if there are any special activities going on. There will probably be lots of boats on the water for a final fling but with the temps so warm, I imagine the water will be good for boating/skiing/tubing another couple of weeks. I hope to grill some steaks on Monday.

No plans, John is working Sat. but will have Monday off.

So as I was surfing through the t.v. stations, I came upon a show called Big Easy Brides. They feature INTERESTING weddings in New Orleans. So todays QOTD is-

What is a typical wedding like in your area? Indoors, outdoors, what type of foods are served, any unusual things that happen.....?

Weddings here usually are at a church or area where the reception will take place. I have been to weddings where the ceremony was a garden one over looking the ocean during sunset, and those are very nice.

Nothing much planned for this weekend . Will maybe take out the pool for the kids if it is sunny, and we have to catch up on things at home. We have a busy week/weekend ahead of us after that, so we need to catch up on our rest when we can.

The exchanges are really fun when the kids are younger. They can learn about so many different areas of the country/outside the country depending on the exchange.

Spend today with Football, Cleaning and a bit of mowing the yard is SO dead with 60+ days of 100+ - so I keep saying i did figure 8 mowing...since I just mowed the parts that needed it!! hehe

Tomorrow going to see family - not an eventful Holiday weekend...

I don't have a clue since the only thing I know about the Smurfs is that they are blue and wear white caps.

Yea yea i know i have a high post count, but that is not because i did a lot of talking, its because before the exchanges got a sub board i use to bump them all the time to try and keep them on page 1 of the CB.

I may talk a bit to ya all here but if we were face to face you would be lucky to even get a hello out of me.

Naps....how often do you get to take a nap, and around how long does it last? Do you usually wake up since your kids are making alot of noise? Can you take a long nap for as long as you want?

I don't like to take naps because I take long ones when I do and usually wake up grouchy or feeling like I've wasted my afternoon. I could take a nap every day if I wanted but then my sleep pattern would change and that wouldn't be good either.

When the kids were little, I would sometimes take a nap with them.

I try not to take naps because sometimes it messes up bed time, but if i do fall asleep i try not to sleep longer then an hour. Of course now that i watch my niece i will sometimes cat nap while she is naping.
