exchange rates

Travelex are very good at honring that price pomise.

Looking atthe forward rates stay about the same for the next year (about 1.77), as unless there are some major changes in US ecnomic policy it looks liek the dolllar will stay weak for some time.

Need to just get my head around this.

The 2000 dollar card has 2250 dollars on it?????? making an exchange rate of around 1,86 ?????

If the card has only 2000 dollars on it the exchange would be about 1.65??

Is this correct.

The $2000 card only has $2000 on it when you purchase it, and Amex add the free $ about 5 days later - so yes, in effect, the exchange rate works out to be about 1.86 when you take the free $ into account.

The exchange rate Amex offer isn't the best around, so if there was no offer on, it wouldn't be the best deal, and it is about 1.65 at the moment.

Hi,
Not sure if Thomas Cook's rate is different but on Amex's own site the rate is $1.683072 which nets to $1.8941 if you take the free $'s into account.

Mick.

Yes, the rate at TC was $1.68 when I bought the card yesterday :sunny:

Can you only buy the card in the shops. I've checked Thomas Cook's website and there is no mention of the offer.

Yes, I think you can ::yes::
I, too, spent ages trawling the net to try and buy online ;)

If you buy the card online at Thomas Cook website, they only deliver it to your nearest branch anyway, so you would still have to go in and collect it. Applying for it instore only takes 10 mins or so.

I had a look online too, and it doesn't say anything at all about the free $ offer, even when I clicked through to buy - so I guess the offer doesn't apply online?

Heatherbelle, if you get extra cards on same account one offer, we got one for me extra $250 then another for DH with an other $250, drew the money off the first one to buy the second one. Offer limited but still in my local TC and if you top up online $1000 an extra $75 again. BARGAIN !
