:) We are hoping for an exchange, (I think that is what it's called.), at the Ko'Olina in april '09 has anyone done this? If so what did you get and how were the rooms? Did studios have a full kitchen? Could you sleep 3 comfortably, (2 adults, 1 child) etc...

We are new members that live in Seattle so there aren't a lot of DVC's our way yet. This will be one of our first uses for DVC.

Any info. would be a world of help!!

TIA

I have gotten an exchange to Ko'Olina but using a bonus certificate, not trading DVC. Units for that resort have already started coming in and therefore leaving II. It's a great resort and if you can get it, it's a good exchange assuming you don't settle for the studio. You might or might not get one and if you do, it'll likely be under 6 months out and possibly more like 2 months prior. In the future you want to be searching at least 13 months out for high demand Marriott resorts and 12 months for most all others including Westins. For that group you may want to consider just renting a studio unit privately, I don't think it's worth 134 points plus the exchange fee and inherent risk of an exchange.

I am a DVC owner and also own a week at Ko Olina through Marriott. If you are shooting for April '09 and are able to get an exchange call Ko Olina directly and request the Phase III building..it is scheduled to open later this year and will probably have outrageous oceanfront views (if you are lucky enough to snag an oceanview room---many exchanges made for this resort, however, are mountain view). In any event, we stay there once a year and it is terrific. Mai Tai's at sunset...I can taste them now!
