I had recently borrowed points unfortunately my husband was laid off of his job and we cancelled our trip I was told if I do not use my points by oct 1 of 2010 my points wil expire since I borrowed them, then I was told I could deposit the points into an RCI account and they are good until Dec 2012. But when I looked online to see where we could go there were no orlando hotels. is this true is there no where in orlando that I could stay???? Because on the regular RCI website there are lots of orlando hotels.

There are plenty of Orlando resorts available in RCI to trade into. However, you can not use an Orlando timeshare to trade into another Orlando timeshare. RCI has placed a 30 mile radius block on this. DVC also adheres to this policy. Therefore you can not use a DVC Orlando resort points to trade into Orlando.

I would encourage you to rent your points out for this use year. The money might come in handy, and if for some reason you don't need it, you can use the proceeds to rent something else when you're in a better position to travel.

DVC does not allow one to use points to exchange in to Orlando, including preventing members from exchanging back in using the DVC option. Your best bet is to rent as Brian suggests but if you want to use the RCI deposit option DO SO NOW and start an ongoing search for something that interests you.

The easiest way would be to get in touch with David/Daddio. He's the guy who sponsors several of these boards. He does a lot of the legwork finding renters and arranging for things, and provides you a substantial cut of the proceeds. Pretty painless. and probably provides a price close to what you could get yourself.

Note: I have no affiliation with David's business. But, in this case, it seems like it might be the right path for the OP.
