Excessive water on POTC?

i am reading a thread over on theme parks board , a lot of people are reporting getting really soaked and inches of standing water in the boats? Has anyone here had this experience?

I've been watching that thread as well! What I have learned is "Ask the CM to put your family in one of the last rows." "Don't let the CM overload your row." "Check to see if there is standing water in the boat and refuse to step in if there is."

We were there last week and got totally soaked, like dripping wet soaked, in the front row. They crammed us four adults onto the front row. I didn't really believe the reports until it happened to me. It was really cold water, too!

Oh boy. I have read there is standing water is the back at times as well. My mom wears orthotics and it would not be good if they were soaked. Might have to skip it? Has any of the podcasters had an experience with this?

I've seen a bunch of reports of this, including from Craig, I believe. It's really odd because when they first reopened after the rehab, I was reading reports that they had made the drop less intense (or "lame" as my one friend posted). Then suddenly I start hearing about people getting soaked which sure doesn't sound less intense to me. We're heading down this week. I'll definitely ask to sit in the back and report back on what we find.

I'm wondering if extra water was added to minimize log jams.

I'd imagine a bit more water would stop the boat bottoming out at the top of the drop if the boat's filled with 'pooh sized' people...

Drop didn't change at all. The problem is the boats themselves which were from Disneyland.

I did hear Pete mention that, when did they get the boats from DL? I wonder why they chose to change to the DL boats?

A couple years I think. They made the change because Disneyland saw the problems and didn't want the boats, WDW said oh look free boats we will take them.

Yes. I was at POTC on October 21 and the floor of the last two rows had about one inch of water. Not cool.

hmm I wonder if Kathy or Craig would want to go take a few rides on POTC and check this out, I am reading where the boats are leaning to one side and water coming over the edge?

We rode POTC four times over two MNSSHP's last month. Last row or 2nd last row every time. All but one time the water oozed over the side and soaked DH. His socks were still oozing when we arrived back at our villa at 1 am.

We sat in the next to last row a week ago. Lots of water on the bottom sloshing around. We didn't actually get wet from a splash though.

We went on this in Nov 2014 and were placed in the front row...because my husband has issues bending his legs to fit in the other rows. We indeed did get SOAKED coming down the dip. Was a cold day and this was not pleasant at all....

Rode it on the 27th and DH and I were the only ones in our row (2nd row)... We squeezed in the middle which kept us from getting more than a little splash, but if we hadn't, we would've definitely gotten WET. The front row did. Our row had standing water in the floor when we got in. We only rode it once this trip.

just posted on that other thread but will repost here, wife and daughters rode it last week. daughters in front row wife in second, by the end of ride water 2 inches over the top of DW shoes,, Really expensive ortho shoes by the way,,, daughters got wetter than they have ever gotten front row splash mountain... we have rode this ride at least a 100 times, have never seen it like this...

Yep. Rode it during MNSSHP. We were in row 3. When we sat down the seats were a little wet and there was some water on the floor but it wasn't terrible. However the people in the front row got drenched.

DS got splashed pretty good by the cannons. It's the whole reason I made him sit on the outside ;)
