Exactly how does rider swap work?

Very interested to know how this is working. It doesn't even make sense that you would need FP for everyone using the rider swap. In that case, why would I even need to get a rider swap? If you had two adults and a baby, couldn't they just ride one after the other using FP alternating who stays with the baby? What is the point of rider swap at all then?

You need a pass in case your fastpass window expires while the others are waiting in the fp line. Say you come back with 15 minutes left in your window but it takes 30 minutes for your party to ride and get off. In that instance you have even missed your extra 15 minute window at the end. Without the pass you may not get to ride because there may have be a CM swap and the new CM may not know you were just hanging back with the baby. The card removes the guess work.
