EWWWWWW Today Show segment...selling used underwear!

That's so gross!!!! I can't believe they would take back underwear like that.

I would hope everyone washes their underwear before they wear them.. Especially since no one really knows the condition of the factory they are made in :scared1:

Okay, so here is the confusing part for me - who has to try on underwear to know if they fit? :confused3

I thought this thread was going to be about something completely different. Now that would have been a very interesting thread. Anyways, are there really people who don't wash their new underwear first?

Exactly why I try on swimsuits with my panties on.

:thumbsup2 I must be old school -- I thought that was REQUIRED at least at the stores (I'm pretty sure I've seen signs saying as much). Then again, I don't shop high end so maybe it's just the stores I go to. I figured the liner was there for the mail order versions where people tried them on at home.

I was just going to post the same thing....I thought it was required.
But then again, the Panty Police aren't watching you...so some people probably don't leave them on. :scared:

I just attempted tried on swimsuits in Target the other day. I took them in the dressing room, took them off the hangers and smelled an odor. I won't go into details but I'm pretty sure someone had tried on one WITHOUT panties. :scared1:

Anyway the odor was umm strong, so I took it to the lady at the desk, explained it...she took a very delicate sniff from far, far away and immediately put them in a bag and thanked me for telling her. Needless to say, I didn't try on any swimsuits that day. As i left, I saw the dresing room lady up front with the bag. She was literally arguing with the manager (I think). He wanted to rehang them and she said no, unless you want to take them home and wash them 1st!!! She must have won becuse I saw her take the tags off, cut the garmet and put it in the trash.:banana:

I just decided I'll wear last years swimsuit.

Just because something from Mail order comes in a sealed package does not mean that it is not used. My Mother used to work for a large mail order/womens clothing catalog company, and things that were returned were routinely repackaged and sent back out. People can return used things to mail order companies too. Her busiest time of the year was right after the Kentucky Derby every year. People would buy those fancy hats and return them right after they wore them to the Derby. My Mom worked in returns and had to take them back and send them back to repackaging all the time!:scared1:

when trying things on the protective pad that is in the crotch, isn't clean after someone else has tried the same item on but not purchased it.

There should be a system for swimsuits and other underwear that replaces the protective pad once you have tried the item on......

Thats gross to think about also...

This is one of the many reasons that I chuckle over people who turn their noses up at buying used clothing at garage sales or thrift stores (although I'd never buy underwear there).. You have no idea who tried on that coat, dress, swimsuit, etc. - or - who may have purchased it, wore it once (or several times), returned it to the store and they in turn put it back out on the sales floor.. (And these aren't even "discount" department stores that are being discussed!)

I wash everything before I wear it - no matter where I made the purchase..;)

THAT IS GROSS!!!  :scared1:

That just gives me a brand new excuse on why I can't go bathing suit shopping!! I hate shopping for them and I hate wearing bathing suites. So now when my super skinny sister asks me to go shopping with her, I can give her the "No, I can't! I don't want any STD's from suites" excuse!:lmao::lmao:

Used clothing gets washed before I wear it. The suede coat I got off ebay? Sent to the cleaners. Used Levi's from the thrift store? Into the washing machine.

LOL i swear I am never buying another bathing suit or undies again ! EWWW

Maybe that's why it took me 15+ years to buy a new bathing suit..... I waited until that one was near to falling apart before I bought a new one. :lmao:
