Post all SW questions concerns, etc. here...

I'm waiting on Christmas airfare too and keep seeing the flight schedule getting pushed back. The uncertainty of the pricing is driving me nuts! If Southwest wants to be like all the legacy airlines, maybe they should also release airfare at 330 days like the rest of them with their assigned seating and bag fees now :D
SWA airfare for every flight to/from Chicago-Midway and Orlando starting with June11th is $219 per ticket. We never pay that much for a flight. I always wait for a cheaper flight. I do start getting nervous, though, as we get closer. :)

Can one hold 2 reservations for the same dates? I’m not sure which person is going to fly with me so I’d like to have one reservation with my DH and another reservation with a friend. In the old days I could just simply put everyone on their own Rez. With the new costs, I have to have them on my Rez to get preferred seating and free bag. I would cancel the Rez I’m not using before the flight once I know who is traveling. I’m using points.

I would worry that Southwest would pick up on it as a double reservation and cancel one or both. Have read stories of them doing it during open seating if the times were the same on 2 reservations. Can you put all 3 of you on the reservation and then cancel the person who is not flying. You might have to book choice .
I am trying to figure out if I can book a basic reservation with 2 people and divide the reservation to cancel one of the people. Basic says no changes but the web site does not really state that.

If someone has been able to remove a person from a basic points reservation, please post how you did it.
Thanks

Thanks for your post. I am also interested if anyone has removed someone from a basic rez successfully. The new SWA is very complicated. I had always loved their simplicity for years…still hoping they might reverse course someday.

Have you ever had expiring travel funds extended?

I have a 5.00 credit that expires 3-30-2026. I was told by a SW rep last month you can ask for a one-time extension of 3 months I was going to let it go, but I ‘ll call to see if it works and report back.

I am a preferred business cardholder and can pick my seat 48 hours before but this is my first time doing it. Has anyone done this and been able to get two seats together? DH and I are wondering if there is any chance we will be able to get seats together at the 48 hour mark.

It depends on what is available on your flight. You can monitor prior to the 48-hour mark by hitting the upgrade button to see what is available and backing out. I have been able to choose seats together successfully a few times right at the 48-hour mark. I have read a few reports of people being able to go in a few minutes early and choose seats. If you have a layover you need to go in twice for each flight 48 hours prior to, choose your seat. You should be able to change your seat this way up to one hour prior to boarding the available seats.

There is barely anything left to upgrade to. I am ok with being in the standard section at the back half of the plane but I just didn't know if when I check in at the 48 hour mark is there much likelihood of getting two seats together.

There's a hack. Book a Choice Plus fare with your expiring travel funds + a little gift card + credit card. Cancel it. The travel funds + gift card will go back to non-expiring and transferrable travel funds, the credit card portion goes back to the card. I just did this the other day.

Just a heads-up for anyone originating at BWI, the news reports of long lines are not exaggerated. We spent more than three hours in the security line and missed our flight this morning. Arrive at least 4+ hours early if not checking luggage, 5+ if checking luggage. You can’t check luggage more than four hours before a flight, but the line to check luggage was long if you don’t have priority lane.
