Disney is clever. Very, very clever.[/QUOTE]

I agree with this...

Last year, my family decided to stay on property for the first time...I booked ASMu, thinking who cares, it is just a room...although I had always wanted to stay at the Polynesian but didn't even check because I knew it wasn't worth it, hahah, since we spend so little time in the room. "Free" dining was offered, and I mention while the CM is applying the code that I've always wanted to stay at the Poly...she checked the rate without me asking. I ended up spending another $1000 over what my original package price was and upgrading. So free dining cost me...my original package plus another $1000!! Now I am a Poly convert, and realize that my hotel experience is much more than I thought it would be at Disney.

Then, on our trip in September, we got a magical upgrade to concierge. That sealed the deal...my husband and I will only stay concierge now!

That is how smart Disney is...I started out at a value resort, and ended up being a Poly concierge repeat...they are SOOO clever. Enjoy the GF!

What exactly are the benefits of concierge?

And while I'm asking fun questions.. what about the Poly deluxe resort did you so fall in love with? I'm curious -- I've been toying with staying deluxe again next trip.. I did a few years ago and it was fine.. but I was hardly in my room or at the hotel so it seemed like a waste.

OK... I am beginning to see and unfortunately believe that "this magical code" is a glitch in the system and not a public code... THEN WHY are Disney CM's still willingly applying it to peoples reservation (sometimes without people asking for a discount)???? I would think that a corporation as big as Disney would have their computer techs on this in no time at all. The BW "glitch" lasted a very short time before Disney realized it and corrected the problem. People booking the BW knew that a mistake had been made. This glitch has been going on for a few days and people had been offered this discount on their reservation, now knowing that they were "taking advantage" of Disney.

well said :thumbsup2

Yeah, I got the 40% off code. But we had the package booked through AAA already so this is just icing (a big icing I guess) on the cake :)

Of course, Disney ended up getting more money out of us - those scums. I budgetd $3800 for AAA discounted room at WL. With the code, it dropped down to $2900. Then DW said why don't we book GF? So I upgraded to GF for $4100 ($300 more than the original AAA budget) using the code.

In the end, Disney took more money from me. Those *******s! :)

Disney is clever. Very, very clever.

Yep. We were originally only going to stay Sept 4-11 at POR, but when the pin code came out not only did we upgrade to Poly at $222.08 a night (who would say no to that especially for a honeymoon), but we are staying two extra nights as well and extended our honeymoon until Sept 13th.

I figure that this pin code is actually costing us $550 more including the extra cost for park pass days and two more days of food.

Disney knows exactly what they are doing.

I too fell victim to the 'extra days' trap.. We chose to stay an extra night and still saved plenty based on the rack for our original five night -- now six night - stay.

{ Small note : I updated the original post at the beginning of the thread indicating the "season rates" for the various seasons that that the weeks discounts would apply.}

Concierge offers preplanning services, they will make all your dining and experience reservations for you. There is private check in. Packages are delivered directly to your room instead of the gift shop of the resort. The Concierge lounge offers pastries, juice, milk, ect at breakfast, snacks during the day, yummy apps from Kona and Ohana's in the evening, cordials, desserts, alcoholic beverages like a fruity drink in a pitcher...water and soda anytime of day. And at the Poly, I love the location of the concierge building.

We found ourselves wishing for more time at the Polynesian this time, we cut out things to hang out at the resort! Usually we don't spend much time at the hotel, but not so at the Poly, maybe our one year old had something to do with it, but it is more than that...I think true Poly lovers just get a feeling, lol. For example, a couple of weeks ago I stayed at POFQ with my sister for a few days. TWICE we went to the Poly to watch the fireworks and drink Lapu Lapus. Now that is devotion!

For our upcoming trip, I have whole blocks of time planned just to hang out and enjoy the Poly and concierge, and I am greatly looking forward to it! But if you don't spend much time at the hotel, I'm not sure I would spend the money.

I'm not complaining because this pin code allows us to stay somewhere we wouldn't have been able to normally. With the wedding and all $370.13 a night a Poly GV would be way out of our budget, but $222.08 that's a different story. It really is only $370 more then what we would be paying at POR, so it's not $1000 more or anything like that.

MAY I HAVE EVERYONES ATTENTION:listen: ...if the CM gives you the discount(and make sure they've given you the discount) and you have a reservation number then they would have to honor it!!! So make sure you know the price of your trip before calling, if you get a CM that is willing to honor the code, make sure they have applied the code and then make sure that you have a reservation number. The supervisor said that this would be a written agreement that they would have to honor even though it was their mistake. :thumbsup2
SO, GOOD LUCK TO ALL CODE HUNTERS AND MAY YOU FIND THAT SPECIAL CM THAT WILL MAKE YOUR WISH COME TRUE!!!:wizard:

We were told the same thing when we called about our BWI Glitch trip, when we called in.

Didn't end up being true. Sometimes the people on the phones are wrong.

I hope the code-booked vacationers get to keep their discount, I am going to wait till I know for sure (I don't want a "cancel or pay rack rate" phone call, lol). I will live vicariously through those of you who booked ~ with fingers crossed for you! its a great discount!

The CM's were saying the same thing about the computer glitch last year too.. Disney would honor it.. and they did not.. only one night was honored.. but then again, the discounts were much steeper.. I paid $55 including tax for the Poly concierge lagoon view room!! and $10.20 for PO-Riverside.. my sister got BC concierge for like $22....

This is exactly what many of us who booked the BW garden suite glitch thought might happen in our case. Maybe Disney would revoke the reservations but allow us to keep one of our package nights. When I was called by the infamous Yolanda, she specifically said that there had been an error when I booked online and that I had only purchased tickets - and they were not negotiating at all - no offers were being extended. Cancel or pay the difference between what we paid in full and rack rate.

Time will tell - I hope Disney does the right thing in honoring any code reservations, pin or no pin. :wizard: Not being negative about any of this - just realistic based on my experience with CMs and reservations.

Not the same thing. That was obviously a computer malfunction, I mean no discount is going to give you prices like that. The best discount ever is employee and that is 50%.

This is not a glitch, in that many are getting the deal with their pin codes. The problem is with the CMs booking it, not the actual booking system.

The rates you mentioned above, did a Disney CM book those rates or was that an online booking situation?

That was around Aug 2005.. I thought you remembered that??? It was a Fl resident rate code only & even people for out of state were booking it. It was via the internet...
You are right, the rates are not the same, but Disney does NOT have to honor any rate that does not have the pin next to the name if it came down to it. They can do what they want to do. They had ALL of my money, I paid in full when they had the glitch. They had to refund me all of the money. People were saying that they couldn't pay in full yet the CM that I got when I called to pay, took my credit card & didn't say anything about the low rate.. said I would be getting my updated ressie showing paid in full via the internet & I did! The CM was wrong then & didn't catch my glitch.. yet I was still called told I could not have all the nights.. just one.

I did not remember the specifics, but did think it was online booking. You are right they don't have to honor this situation. But I truly see no reason for them not to. Makes no difference to them if Jane books it or Mark, the discount is the same and the discount is legit.

Now if suddenly someone calls in and gets a room at the prices you mentioned then, yea that is a different story.

The only problem with getting so excited since the Supervisor said that the reservations would be honored....

Back and forth on an earlier thread (using quotes but I'm not looking up old posts for exact quotes so in my own words)

"So I asked to speak to a Supervisor to confirm and was told by the Supervisor that this was indeed a General code with no pin needed."
Yeah woo hoo we can use this general code.

"So I asked to speak to a Supervisor when I was denied the code and was told this is a Pin Code. You must have a pin to use it and we can not let you use this"
Darn..well is this a general code or not. Can't use it.

"So I asked to speak to a Supervisor and was told this is a pin code and anyone who has been given it without a pin will have to pay full price in the end"
Uh - oh I cant use it and ha ha everyone else will have to pay surprise!!

"So I asked to speak to a Supervisor and was told this is a pin code and we can not let you use it, anyone who has used it without a pin whill not have it honored and will have to cancel."
Darn - But atleast we get our money back we tried. I really wanted that discount.

"So I asked to speak to a Supervisor and was told if you get a CM to give you the code and book the reservation it is a contract and we have to honor it."
Woo Hoo Mine is paid I'm Set.

Well I'm kind of thinking that maybe we shouldn't even be thinking about what hose Supervisors say and see what actually happens. As the people from glitches have said Disney has refused to honor these so called contracts in the past. And they had been told many different things from the Supervisors that weren't true. Now if everyone was reporting back that all the Supervisors were saying the same thing that'd be one thing...or even varying degrees of the same thing (like ressies cancelled, and pay full price) it would be meaningful...but well they are on completely opposite sides of the fence and don't even agree on what kind of code it is much less what's going to happen now.

Suspect these supervisors are probably just another agent sitting next to the agent you're talking to and pulling things out of their you know what.

If only we knew which code went with each conversation you quoted.

I booked using the code and if they do not honor it then i understand. I will be disappointed because it may mean me not going this year if nothing else comes out, but thats just how the cookie crumbles.
I will probably plan a trip to somewhere closer and less expensive to save a few $. I love disney but there are other fun places out there closer to home. We were pushing it this year but the discount helped and as much as I love disney the cost with Air can become great :)

Has anyone ever given the thought to this being part of the "Year Of A Million Dreams" celebration ?? I mean, why not ?? they release a secret code and several of us get a great discount, several don't ! just like in the parks, several get dream fast passes, several don't :wizard:

I'm with Missmun52 I used the code in hopes they will honor if since I dont have a pin # to go with it... but either way we'll be going. If I gotta fork over another 730$ or not... I just hope I know BEFORE I check in!

Here's my take and experience with the code issue...

After reading through all these threads about the discount, I called and asked for a discount for our stay at the end of August. I didn't have a code or pin. The CM I spoke with found a deal for me and I took it.

We always travel at the end of August (except fortunately in 2004 when they had all the hurricanes). Last year I was looking at the Poly when the free dining came out, but it was still too pricey for me and we wanted to try CSR. This year the Poly with a discount is $200 less than last year with the free dining promotion.

Disney isn't stupid. They offered the free dining last year and sold out at all the values. Many people (with kids) payed less for their room each night than they would have for the DP. They also had problems feeding all those people who were getting the DP for free. Offer a discount, and cheap people like me book the deluxe resorts. If they want dining, they pay extra for it (we are).

Maybe they will take our rates back - note that I haven't added this trip to my ticker. Actually, I'm taking a quick girls only trip at the end of February and I can't remember how to make a ticker anyway!! The times the promotion is offered are their slow times though. I also don't see how an agent can make a reservation without a pin if one is required; their computer system must be more advanced than that! Or maybe the agent sprinkled some pixie dust on me because I told him that my only child will be going away to college that week and I need some Disney to cheer me up :)

It seems to me that either there are some ressie cm's who do not know what they are doing OR Disney just is making it too complicated for them to know what they are doing. You should not be dependent upon which CM you get. The info should come right up on the screen, the same for each person, and then there would not be so much confusion.

If they choose to give some discounts and not to others if it is tied to their name, address, phone number etc. it should still come up on the screen in a simple to understand manner.

If you are lucky enough to get a CM who gives you the code deal and 'says' the price is going to be whatever how can you be assured that when the bill arrives it would be the same amount? It is only worth the paper it is written on and there is no paper trail, except on their end.

I am careful with a dollar and would dearly wish to get a good deal but not if getting means that a CM on the other end might lose their job for making a mistake that I feel Disney is responsible for because they have made things so confusing. :confused3

There are just my Sunday morning thoughts based on my experiences.

I think I read that someone said that something was coming out tomorrow. I called Disney this morning and was told that they were upgrading their system so I shall see what tomorrow brings.

Have a great day all and I hope all your reservations come true!!:cheer2:
