Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Meal Vouchers

That's what I got too when I clicked on the auctions link. It said "error":(

The times I checked the DisAuction site there were never any meal vouchers up for bid anyway. Your best bet is to buy them from the retail sources provided throughout this thread. Just stay away from eBay as you'll pay way too much for them.

I looked at the Florida Orlando online site but decided against it when I found the one's from hotwiresavingsclub.com - they are a much better deal...and the membership is free for one month. It's worth the extra effort!!!

My son is 12, but looks like he's 14. What age is the age cut-off for the children's vouchers, and if it's 12 and under, does anyone think they would question his age?

Would it be advisable to take a copy of his birth certificate?

Thanks to everyone for this great thread! The information here is invaluable!

In 2002 we used vouchers and the cut off in the Connections material said 9 and under but the Disney restaurants mostly state 11 and under so I ordered the bkft vouchers for my 10 and 6 yr olds. The quick and casual have no distinction between adult and child anyway. The lunch voucher is also 11 and under but the kids are supposed to order from the kids menu so I don't think your son would like that anyway. Technically, if he is 12, he is an adult in Disney's eyes.

Thanks for the info. I figured 12 was adult at Disney - just wanted to be sure. He very rarely eats from the kid's menu, but sometimes he does and I was going to be prepared just in case.

Thanks to all who helped me find this thread! :hyper: I just wasn't seeing it, but it was there! I think I have "Excited Disney Syndrome". I just can not see or think straight right now! :bounce:

We are going to be in the parks for 4 days and two days of travel so I am going to join Hotwire and buy 5 Q&C's and 2 VKL's for two people on a budget! The VKL's are a splurge but the thought of a complete sit down Lobster dinner is just too tempting. After all this is my birthday trip too! :earsgirl:

We plan on packing many of our own snacks and breakfasts and get two refillable mugs at the resort.

Please anyone who has recently had trouble with Hotwire will you tell me now before I do this! I plan on cancelling the membership during the 30 day period but after I buy the vouchers unless they offer some really great deals. This will work, correct? :wave2:

that is exactly what I did and it was fine, just order your vouchers as soon as you join. really you can easily split the vkl's ( we are not particularly little eaters and had plenty every time, at RFC in particular we would have never been able to eat 2 vouchers's worth of food, same with Brown Derby (strip steak with the shrimp add on, coconut shrimp and creme brulee, yum) which was my personal fav... so nice, elegant is the word that comes to mind, silver coffee pots, wonderful presentations, not amusement park like at all!) so that makes the entire meal $30..not much more than we would spend at home to go out. we did leave about $5 more per tip so the bills were about $35 total as usually they did not charge for our extra bev. but a few times I just got h2o anyway..we definitly will use them again.

I was thinking of using the 2 VKL's at one meal and really splurge. I never even thought about getting a meal there and splitting it. Hummmm, very interesting idea! Oh my that would mean we could eat fancy two times!

I fugured with the VKL's we would eat our main meal early in the day since they are suppose to be for lunches. What time of day did you use yours?

Rfc we went around 12:30 i think..our original ps was later but we were hungry! (mistake we made was it was the day we were going to Ohana for dinner and we were still too full to really enjoy it.) it was our first time there and had no idea how huge the portions would be...large lobster with a crab meat filling ( more creamy, like a dip which I wish they would have stuck under a broiler as I would have like it better that way), at least a cup of rice, another cup+ of grilled veggiesand 2 peices of garlic bread, 8 or so pieces of bruschetta and a good sized wedge of key lime pie...plus since we belong to the safari club so we got a free appe of a large ramekin of crab dip with a lot tortilla chips... could not even start to finish it if that makes sense..

BD we went around 11:30 since we were skippping breakfast and eating an early dinner due to fantasmic ( we could have eaten a little later dinner but were going to scifi and had heard the wait was long and it took a long time which it did)..

don't remember what time we went to Lecellier

we split almost every meal except a few of the q/c and of course buffets. no one was creepy about it in the least and BD split the entree in the kitchen for us which was nice. Le cellier did not and we had to ask for another plate but the waitress was new so maybe they normally would split it in the kitchen.

The value vouchers ARE only good for lunch but the rainforrest cafe serves dinner using the same menu as lunch. We did the Rainforrest using the vouchers. I piad 35.00 each voucher from ebay. Our bill was 139.00 bucks. We were rolled out of there when we were done. I can see where you can use one voucher for two people. THere is just sooo much food.
I agree with the above poster about the lobster. If it was put under the broiler for a few minutes it woulda been awesome./ The food was good. And the lobster could been split for two people.

how do you do it when they come to take the order, ask for another plate?::MinnieMo :earseek:

Hi! I was just wondering about the expiration dates on these vouchers. We are going in June so I can't buy any of them since they expire in May. Do they issue new expiration dates and if so around when do you think that they will update the vouchers? Thanks!

Yes. We used he Q&C vouchers...so we were at counter service except for Beaches and Cream (where they split our meal for us :D ). At the other places...we just asked for an extra plate.

FYI: We have two boys (8 and 9) and we used two vouchers every time and with the dessert...we had enough for all four of us. Some meals were 'closer' than others, but I think it really helped us eat a wiser amount! We really had enough food...just not 'stuffed' like we sometimes do

Just got my vouchers in the mail today.

The Breakfast vouchers have an expiration of 5/31/04. The Q&C vouchers have an expiration date of 5/31/05.

How long between when you ordered the vouchers and when they arrived? I do not what to be in Disney when the vouchers finally get mailed to my house!:earsgirl:

AreWeThereYet,

Thanks so much for posting the new Q & C dates.....Are there any other changes in the voucher particulars?

Thanks In Advance!:earsgirl:

we just told them we were going to use the voucher and split it. brown derby brought it out preplated on two plates, I think Le cellier might have also but the waitress was just being trained so we had to ask for another plate. RFC brought us out an other plate with out us asking but we had to plate it ourselves. at the counter places we usually just either asked for another plate or sometimes had an additional plate already due to a side. no one seemed surprised in the least, the waitress at Rfc just said they have to OK the vouchers with the manager but it was just a formality, she already knew how to use them and what we could get with them.
since we were spliting and getting less food which would translate into they would get less of a tip, we made sure and left a larger additional tip so they didn't feel gipped.

btw if you happen to go to RFC and belong to the safari club, give them the card even if you aren't using it as they will swipe it anyway and you get points for being there which eventually gets you larger gift certificates

We are going for spring break - 2 days travel there and back. We will be in Orlando Monday - Friday with a four-day park hopper pass. We have 3 children - 10, 9 and 3 and my dad is going with us. Any advice on how many Q & C vouchers to buy. We may want to eat out "nice" once. ::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo

Has anyone ordered the VKL vouchers lately? I'm interested in purchasing a few but our vacation isn't until July, 2004. I see that the Q&C Vouchers now have a May, 2005 expiration. I called Hotwire and the very nice operator told me that there were no expiration dates on the vouchers. We all know that isn't true.
