Everything Old Is New Again! - A Dec 2010 Trip Report : THE FINAL ENTRY page 45

Words really cannot do this guy's haircut justice. Since I wasn't thinking straight and didn't snap my own picture, I had to turn to Google Image Search to see if I could find something close.
These are the closest I could find:
mullet_narrowweb__200x299.jpg
americanmullet001.jpg

But our guy at Epcot outshines both of these guys. His "business in the front" was much more business-like. It was cut shorter and pretty straight. And his "party in the back" would be one of those epic parties that even the cops that had to break it up would be talking about 10 years down the road. It was longer, curlier, and fuller.

That is hands down the best mullet description ever*.:rotfl:

I don't know weather to :lmao::lmao::lmao:or be :scared1::scared1::scared1: That is definitely an interesting choice of hair style.:rolleyes1
::yes::

Sounds like you rode the bus with Michael Bolton.

Michael Bolton??? Really??? I'm thinking more along the lines of Billy Ray Cyrus from the Achy Breaky Heart days.
Oddly, when I did Google Image Searches for "mullet", both Michael Bolton and Billy Ray Cyrus came up - a lot. Although if I had to peg this guy, he's much more of an REO Speedwagon type of guy.

I stand corrected. Michael Bolton is more "nothing in the front, party in the back".
I'm sure he's a nice guy and all, but I don't think I want to hang out any of Michael Bolton's parties. Unless you're talking about Office Space's Michael Bolton. Then I'm in. :thumbsup2

I certainly can't take credit for it, but thanks!

And here I always thought of that as the David Crosby. :lmao:
Sorry, a little before my time. :confused3

I've never actually looked mullet up in the dictionary, but I've always assumed that there would be a picture of the early 90's Billy Ray next to the definition.

Lawrence, you awake?
Yeah.
You wanna come over?
No, thanks, man. I don't want you peanut buttering up my life, too.

Any movie quote points here?
Nope. I wouldn't stoop that low as to totally rip off someone else's shtick.

Well, maybe just this once. +1:thumbsup2

Yeah.

Here's a reference.
OK, I'm sure (or at least I really, really hope) you just did a Google Image Search to find a picture, but www.celebrities-with-diseases.com? Who even starts a site like that?:confused3:confused3

As fun as it would be to talk mullets all day, I think it's time to get back to the Trip Report. Mostly because I'm leaving on vacation in 9 days and I really want to get this finished up before I go.

Last night had been a pretty long one, saying out for Illuminations and the long bus ride/walk back to the villa. Our plan was to not rush too much today, because it was going to be another long day - Animal Kingdom until around 4, then go over to Magic Kingdom for Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party. That being said, the time stamp on this picture is 9:06am.

I ran over to Expedition Everest for FastPasses, then met the group over at Kilimanjaro Safari.

We've all seen the animals, so I won't boar you with too many pictures. (Boar! Ha! And you thought I was out of puns!)

IMG_4165.JPG

The ride was fairly typical in the beginning. There were plenty of animals around, but nothing too out of the ordinary. Then we hit the grasslands area, and the giraffes were munching on some trees right off the path. Literally, right off the path:

IMG_4187.JPG

This is when the driver did a very un-Kilimanjaro Safari-esqe move. He slowed down. A lot. Maybe it was so we could actually get good pictures or maybe it was so that he wouldn't spook the giraffes, but either way it made for a very cool photo op.

In the Jungle, the Mighty Jungle, the Lion Sleeps Toniiiiiiiiiight. And during the day. And in the morning. And evening. Just about all the time.
IMG_4215.JPG

Well, we had to cut our two week safari short due to some poachers, but I'm happy to report that we got the baby elephant back! Again. Just like the last 13 times. You'd think by now Disney would but in some better security to keep those poachers out.

After the safari and a quick snack (mmmm...zebra dome) it was time to head to Asia and ride Expedition Everest.

While Bambi, Kaylene, Carol and I rode EE, the kids hung out with Grandpa. Madison and Kayden supplied the beats, Evan supplied the Boogy.

Since this was the fist week of December, it was Pop Warner time at Disney World. We really didn't run into too many extra crowds because of them, but there were several roaming bands of cheerleaders wandering the parks. I tried counting the redundancies and oxymorons on her shirt, but then I got a headache and stopped.

We met back up with Grandpa and the kids by It's Tough to Be a Bug.
100_1083.JPG

Just like with Ohana, the last time we had seen this show was when Madison was just a baby. She was sitting on Bambi's lap during the show. When the stingers popped out and hit her in the back, Bambi jumped and startled Madison, who began crying. I took her out of the theater so she wouldn't disturb anyone - so neither her nor I ever saw the end of the show. Not like she would remember seeing the beginning of the show anyway - she was 7 weeks old, for Pete's sake.

This time around went much better. I think the kids must have been leaning forward, because I don't recall anyone jumping at the stinger in the back. At the end, however, was a different story. As the bugs exited underneath you, Madison flew about 2 feet off of her bench with a look to total surprise, shock, and bewilderment on her face!

Lunch time means only one thing at Animal Kingdom: Flame Tree BBQ and their awesome outside seating.
100_1087.JPG

After lunch, we wandered over to Dinoland. Some of their Christmas decorations were tasteful.

Others better fit the themeing of the area.

A quick spin on the "Not Dumbo" ride:
IMG_4247.JPG

IMG_4248.JPG

After Dinoland, I split from the group. I hadn't ridden Dinosaur since, you guessed it, Madison was just a baby. No one else was interested in riding, but it was only a 15 minute wait, so they went on ahead while I rode solo. I guess I had forgotten how bumpy and herky jerky that ride was. It's a fun enough ride, but once every 6 years or so seems like a good enough interval.

Meanwhile, Kayden hugged Pooh.

Coming Up Next: Finishing up the afternoon at Animal Kingdom

As fun as it would be to talk mullets all day, I think it's time to get back to the Trip Report.
Thank goodness... those were some scary looking pirates that were starting to take this TR over.

Mostly because I'm leaving on vacation in 9 days and I really want to get this finished up before I go.
I'm glad somebody is trying to adhere to the Man laws!:thumbsup2

We've all seen the animals, so I won't boar you with too many pictures. (Boar! Ha! And you thought I was out of puns!)
:headache: I guess I spoke too soon... bring back the mullets!!

Maybe it was so we could actually get good pictures or maybe it was so that he wouldn't spook the giraffes, but either way it made for a very cool photo op.
Awesome giraffe pictures! :thumbsup2

:lmao::rotfl2: Ok, this picture and the ensuing comments almost make up for the bad pun.

:confused3 I enjoy Dinosaur... I guess it benefits me that it usually has a short wait.

Nice update Barry. Look forward to reading about your afternoon at AK.

I'm in :) Your children are so cute :) I loved the pics where madison had her huge grin :) I also loved the pictures where evan was waiting for buzz and woody.

Mr. Takagi. I could talk industrialization and men's fashion all day, but I'm afraid work must intrude.

Mostly because I'm leaving on vacation in 9 days and I really want to get this finished up before I go.

It's as good a reason as any.

(thanks for giving me a chance to use that smiley!)

All together now: Awwwwww.... :grouphug:

In the Jungle, the Mighty Jungle, the Lion Sleeps Toniiiiiiiiiight. And during the day. And in the morning. And evening. Just about all the time.

I still say animatronic. Book it.

Again? Sheesh. Just once, I want to hear the driver say, "You know what? Little Red is a moron. We've bailed his sorry rear end out enough. The heck with him.!" :rotfl2:

After the safari and a quick snack (mmmm...zebra dome) it was time to head to Asia and ride Expedition Everest.

:thumbsup2 for the Zebra Dome
:thumbsup2:thumbsup2 for EE

Nice! Although I wish they'd gone all the way and put up some of those fake red or white trees.

A quick spin on the "Not Dumbo" ride:

Not even remotely close. I can usually get on this one within 15 minutes.

I like Dinosaur. Reminds me of when my brothers and I would climb into the dryer and... well, I've said too much already.

:headache: I guess I spoke too soon... bring back the mullets!!

:woohoo: pirate:

nice update barry.:thumbsup2 im glad you didnt boar us with animal pics.:worship: the king!!:lmao: the dryer thing must be a northern midwestern thing i guess.:lmao: nice pics and a good job on the trip report.:thumbsup2

Ours did this too. It could have been because we were on the special needs truck but it was really great. I totally enjoyed it.

Thanks for the words of caution. Maybe someone at Disney realized people might actually like the opportunity to take pictures while on the safari?:confused3

Evan is going to town. Dancing with the wild abandon of Calvin.

Cheerleader or Poacher in disguise?

Maybe the Jr. implies that she's midget's child?:confused3
