Everything Old Is New Again! - A Dec 2010 Trip Report : THE FINAL ENTRY page 45

:lmao: great update barry!!! so what wre the two desserts???? (pictures or it didnt happen.):lmao: very nice pics of the kids, they will have great mem. of there trips!!:thumbsup2
Now that I think about it, we were on the dining plan, so the adults got dessert too. I recall there being a key lime tort or two at the table, and perhaps a chocolate moose. See? The food is so good there, I can't even remember the dessert! :thumbsup2
if a Picture is = 1000 words...then isn't this one of your most extensive works in the TR? :confused3
Good point. Sorry to ramble on so much. :rotfl2:
So I guess you don't let them eat dessert first when you're on vacation? Personally, I think you should have bribed them with dessert to get their chicken.
Smart move :thumbsup2
Smart kid... he knows it's going to be a long day. Gotta get some rest when you can.:thumbsup2
Yup, and when he gets tired while we're walking, he just stands in front of one of us, puts his hands up and demands to be carried. Smart kid, indeed.
Yep, lots of pictures... and they were good. This update really just changed the whole complexion of your picture to pun ratio for this TR.
Is that a good or bad thing?:confused3

Hey at least you got the chicken, if you get the ribs you can flip back to the safari pics to show your kids which animal they're eating.(it's important to hum the circle of life when doing that.)
And more specifically, where each cut of meat comes from.
You see that part down there, kids? That's the magical place on the pig where the bacon comes from.

afwdwfan makes a pretty good point. Meat > Dessert
::yes::

That's an important pro tip.
You spend enough time out looking and you notice things like this.
The show pics and trip pics were all great.
Thanks!

It's been 7 months since I ate there, and I'm still contemplating going back and getting another one.
Could you grab me one as long as you're there?

Certain things separate DIS Dads from the rest of the riffraff. Knowledge like this is one of them. :thumbsup2
Yes, I am wise in the ways of character autographs. :yoda:

Whenever my kids gave him their autograph books to sign, he made a show of slobbering all over it. They loved it, of course.
Who wouldn't? :thumbsup2

That is a great show. Looks like the kids were having fun with it! Well, except Evan.
He enjoys it in his own quiet, reserved kind of way. Although, compared to his sister's outgoing personality, the University of Wisconsin Marching Band is quiet and reserved.

I don't know if anyone said it yet as I haven't read all the replies but you know the day you met all the mixed characters like bolt etc inbetween Canada and England and it seemed a strange place etc etc...
I was saying it on a difference disney forum :scared1: and someone came back with this:
That location is for new CMs getting to know their character friends better, if you catch my drift. This means there won't always be character out there, and the characters won't always be the same
Just thought you might find it interesting :)
Someone else did mention something similar, but it's always nice to get verification. Thanks for thinking of me!:thumbsup2

I post that and then looked up and saw an update. Luvin the character Xmas trees and Lilo and Stitches Christmas outfits.. Can't wait to see them this year :) YUS I got me a ticker although technically we're not booked for another two weeks :) How cold was it in December there you're all in hoodies in all your pictures.
Yay for a trip!
There was a cold snap this past December - Orlando had record lows (low 30s!) some nights. However, the day after the Christmas party we were back out in tshirts and shorts.
Check out the Trip Planner at Weather Underground (http://www.wunderground.com/tripplanner/index.asp?MR=1). You give it a location and date range, and it comes back with all of the expected weather. For example, in Orlando from Dec 3 - 10, the average high is 73, with ranges from 51 to 84. Average low is 55, with a range of 33 to 71. So it's a very unpredictable time of year. Pack shorts and a jacket!

Great updates, Barry.
Thanks Kathy!

My favorite monkey is on the ground on the right. :lovestruc
:thumbsup2

I Love that part- but sadly not many people are listening and never hear it. :lmao:
It's quite a stampede to the door, isn't it? (Ha! Stampede!:rotfl2:)

Hi!

I just caught up with your trip report - I love that you brought some newbies with you.

We are actually going to be at the world this summer at the same time (June 24 - July 9) - and had originally thought about the Tree House Villas. Did you like them? In the end we decided that it would be much less expensive to say offsite - and stay for two weeks. I don't know, but SS doesn't give me the warm fuzzies of a typical Disney resort.

Looking forward to your next update!

Welcome to the report! We loved the tree houses and would stay there again in a heartbeat, it's just kind of hard to justify that many DVC points for a family of 4. They work great for groups like this, though.
I don't mind SS. It's very spread out, but very well landscaped (like all Disney resorts). It just has a very laid back, relaxed atmosphere to it.

Thanks! I think 30 degrees is like our summer.. Our summers are actually colder than that normally so 30 degrees even will be fine for us so long as it's dry :)

I know I posted a picture of the Magic Kingdom tree earlier in the TR, but this is a different tree. It's the tree from Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party! (Ok, technically it's the same tree, but the other pictures were taken from the top of the double decker bus. So at least it's a different angle)

Even though MVMCP doesn't start until 7, your ticket gets you into the park starting at 4. We were a bit late in getting over from Animal Kingdom and didn't get our party wristbands until 4:05. Let's get moving, people! We've got valuable time to make up!

First Stop: Princess Tiana
IMG_4356.JPG

After we left Tiana, the kids were feeling very brave. They wanted to take on the scariest ride they could. Something full of adventure! Full of mystery! Full of danger! Full of girls on boats winking at you!
IMG_4378.JPG

Full of....whatever this kid is doing to that poor chicken...
IMG_4379.JPG

Oh, there you are Perry.
perry.jpg

After our death defying slow moving boat ride, we decided on something a little tamer - like flying out of control over, into and through a barn.

Ladies and Gentlemen, back by popular demand: Evan!
IMG_4396.JPG

Well, after those two thrill rides, it's time to slow it down a little bit. How about some nice pictures of the mouses houses all lit up for the Holidays? Kind of sad, this was the last Christmas for Toon town. But on the bright side, those gigantic bulbs should be showing up in at a garage sale any day now!
IMG_4401.JPG

IMG_4430.JPG

And you though I was the only one that did puns...
IMG_4402.JPG

Our plan was to eat dinner, then be ready for the party festivities to start right at 7. So we headed over to the old stand by, Comsic Ray's. We were a little better prepared this time, though, and staked out some seating before we ordered. I finished up eating first and ran back to Toontown to get in line for the Fairies. I arrived around 6:45 and still the 5th or 6th person in line.

Everyone else joined me right at 7 and we headed back, got shrunk down to fairy size, and we welcomed by Terrance

...and then a little EXTRA extra attention from Tink
IMG_4420.JPG

Vidia was trying to figure out what he did to himself
IMG_4421.JPG

IMG_4424.JPG

If you've never seen the movies, Vidia is not the most friendly or personable fairy, as you can see when Madison went for a hug...
IMG_4427.JPG

OK, enough of slow character stuff - it's time to let the wind blow through your hair while you cruise at top speed down the open road! Or at least suck some exhaust while plodding along slamming into rails.
IMG_4431.JPG

Careful there, lover boy. Watch the road, not the girls in the next car.
IMG_4434.JPG

Speaking of watching where you're going...
IMG_4436.JPG

You can't really tell from the picture, but Bambi is actually simultaneously bucking herself in, trying to complete and sign her living will and medical directives, and just plain old wondering what the Beverly she just got herself into. Becasue if anyone can jump that guide rail and joy ride around Magic Kingdom, it's Evan.
IMG_4437.JPG

DisDad meetup! Me and Ray (Disney Commando). Don't adjust your screens, we're just naturally that fuzzy.
IMG_4439.JPG

We hustled over to the castle forecourt and settled in for the show. While we waited, Bambi and I headed over to the Tomorrowland Terrace for some hot chocolate and cookies. FREE hot chocolate and cookies! (OK, the party tickets were over $50 a piece, so actually it's the most expensive free hot chocolate and cookies you'll ever have, but still, the sign said FREE, so we took advantage). The lines were horribly long, but there were CMs there doing a pretty good job of keeping them from getting completely unruly. By the time we got up to the counter, we could see into the kitchen area where they were staging the cookies. Sugar cookies and sprinkles as far as you could see! Is this heaven? No, it's Disney World. :goodvibes

We grabbed as much as we could carry, made our way back through the crowd and joined up with the group just in time to watch the Christmas show on the castle stage.

UP NEXT: Pictures of the Parade. Lots and lots of pictures of the parade.

First Stop: Princess Tiana

I love this picture..both beautiful ladies.

Sweet picture.

IMG_4420.JPG

Oh, how sweet.

Comments in red above.

Barry, leave the puns to Disney. ;)

Not many words in this update (and there was much rejoicing throughout the land!). We had a pretty sweet spot for the parade, with Cinderella Castle as a background. So, without any further ado, I present Mickey's Once Upon A Christmastime Parade

After we left Tiana, the kids were feeling very brave. They wanted to take on the scariest ride they could. Something full of adventure! Full of mystery! Full of danger! Full of girls on boats winking at you!

I gotta tell you...this ride has me quaking in fear every single time.

Full of....whatever this kid is doing to that poor chicken...

:scared1:

Oh, there you are Perry.

:lmao::rotfl2::rotfl: Nice work! :thumbsup2

Ladies and Gentlemen, back by popular demand: Evan!
IMG_4396.JPG

He looks like he's just been riding IASW or something.

But on the bright side, those gigantic bulbs should be showing up in at a garage sale any day now!

They'll go great with the rubber chicken you were going to put up earlier!

And you though I was the only one that did puns...

But that one is funny!

OK, enough of slow character stuff - it's time to let the wind blow through your hair while you cruise at top speed down the open road! Or at least suck some exhaust while plodding along slamming into rails.

I think they should re-name that ride "The New Jersey Turnpike Experience".

I'm imagining a "chase" through Tomorrowland where Evan and Bambi's car is surrounded by 3 golf carts, crawling along, with a security guard on a megaphone telling him to pull over. Eventually they're overtaken by parade floats.

DisDad meetup! Me and Ray (Disney Commando). Don't adjust your screens, we're just naturally that fuzzy.

:thumbsup2 for the meetup.

:headache: for the focus.

FREE hot chocolate and cookies! (OK, the party tickets were over $50 a piece, so actually it's the most expensive free hot chocolate and cookies you'll ever have, but still, the sign said FREE, so we took advantage).

So how many cookies and mugs of hot chocolate would you have to grab to pay for the ticket? :confused3

Sorry for clogging your Internet Bandwidth with pictures. But I thought they were pretty.

First Stop: Princess Tiana
Was there any update on the kiss count here?:confused3

But on the bright side, those gigantic bulbs should be showing up in at a garage sale any day now!
And I'm guessing you'll be the first in line waiting to buy them...

And you though I was the only one that did puns...
Just bad ones.:lmao:

If you've never seen the movies, Vidia is not the most friendly or personable fairy, as you can see when Madison went for a hug...
I'm guessing that means Kayden was denied by her... :rotfl2:

Careful there, lover boy. Watch the road, not the girls in the next car.
Isn't that the main concept of why the sport of "cruising" was started? :confused3

Becasue if anyone can jump that guide rail and joy ride around Magic Kingdom, it's Evan.
:thumbsup2 That sounds like a fun ride... for Evan.

FREE hot chocolate and cookies! (OK, the party tickets were over $50 a piece, so actually it's the most expensive free hot chocolate and cookies you'll ever have, but still, the sign said FREE, so we took advantage).
Look at it this way... if you can eat $50 worth in cookies and hot chocolate, they're free after that!

Sorry for clogging your Internet Bandwidth with pictures. But I thought they were pretty.
They are. Very nice work!

Barry, I have to say that was one of your BEST updates ever. Very few words and maybe only one pun!

You got beautiful pictures of the Christmas parade and it just makes me all the more excited about getting there for it one day.

Thanks for sharing.

I love this picture..both beautiful ladies.
Thanks. I can only take credit for the smaller one, though.

Pretending it is a Green Bay Packer player,
Say whatever you want. I'm fine knowing that the Packers currently have someone on their payroll who's job it is to polish the Lombardi Trophy. :thumbsup2

Barry, leave the puns to Disney. ;)
I'm not sure what you mean by that. :confused3

Is is sad that as I took that picture, the only thing I was thinking about was how I was going to Photoshop Perry into it for a TR? Nah, I didn't think so either.

Say whatever you want. I'm fine knowing that the Packers currently have someone on their payroll who's job it is to polish the Lombardi Trophy. :thumbsup2

Truthfully, although a true Bears fan, the better team won. I actually used to cheer for the Packers (as long as they were not playing the Bears) when Favre was on the team.

I'm not sure what you mean by that. :confused3

"And you though I was the only one that did puns..."

"Peter's Bumper Crop"....I just meant Disney does a better job with them than you...but I still love ya.

I gotta tell you...this ride has me quaking in fear every single time.
It's not so bad once you get past the music. And the creepy dancing dolls. I guess then it's just a boat ride, then huh?

:lmao::rotfl2::rotfl: Nice work! :thumbsup2
Thank you.

They'll go great with the rubber chicken you were going to put up earlier!
Captain Oblivious: decorator to the stars!

But that one is funny!
Oh, is that how we're judging these?:confused3

I think they should re-name that ride "The New Jersey Turnpike Experience".
I'll take you word for it. The worst traffic I run into in Wisconsin is getting stuck behind a tractor hauling a manure spreader down the road. (You think I'm making that up, don't you?)

I'm imagining a "chase" through Tomorrowland where Evan and Bambi's car is surrounded by 3 golf carts, crawling along, with a security guard on a megaphone telling him to pull over. Eventually they're overtaken by parade floats.
:rotfl2::lmao::rotfl:
It seems like there should be a White Ford Bronco involved in this somehow.

:thumbsup2 for the meetup.

:headache: for the focus.
I take responsibility for this. I'm sure I was messing the the camera's focus settings before handing it to Bambi for the shot. :sad2:

So how many cookies and mugs of hot chocolate would you have to grab to pay for the ticket? :confused3
Well, let's see. Let X represent the cost of the cookies. And Y represent the cost of the hot chocolate.
So X+Y=Until I can't walk anymore.

Was there any update on the kiss count here?:confused3
Sorry. Yes, I believe there was. He's batting 1.000 so far.
And I'm guessing you'll be the first in line waiting to buy them...
Well, if I happen to come across them, I guess I'd pick them up. (After having spent 2 nights sleeping on the ground outside of the garage sale)

Just bad ones.:lmao:
I'm beginning to think you guys don't enjoy my puns.
But that won't stop me!
I'm guessing that means Kayden was denied by her... :rotfl2:
I don't have any photographic evidence of a kiss, but I wouldn't put it past him.
Look at it this way... if you can eat $50 worth in cookies and hot chocolate, they're free after that!
Now you're thinking like a mathematician! Or a diabetic...

Barry, I have to say that was one of your BEST updates ever. Very few words and maybe only one pun!
Thank y....hey! :headache: :rotfl2:

You got beautiful pictures of the Christmas parade and it just makes me all the more excited about getting there for it one day.

Thanks for sharing.
It's worth it!:thumbsup2

Bambi commented a few days ago that we have to be the worst nemesisisisisis in history. I have no idea what she's talking about.:confused3
Why? Because we are frien.... I mean civil? :confused3

Perfect. Please slather yourself in steak and report to lion's rock for your interview. :thumbsup2
What time should I be there?

Mmmm...ketchup.
Should I bug you if you've started your TR yet or are you getting enough of that on your other TR?:rotfl2:
I think I've gotten it enough over there- thanks! :lmao:

The worst part about eating at Flame Tree BBQ? Sitting there, staring at an empty plate. Remembering the excitement you felt 5 minutes ago when that plate had 1/2 a chicken, corn bread and beans on it. Remembering the joy you had 2 minutes ago when the chicken was literally falling off the bone and into your mouth. Remembering the desperation you had 1 minute ago when you were sucking the fatty gristle off the bone, just to get one more taste out of it. And now you're sitting there, contemplating going back and getting another one.
I was in Vermont on a snowboarding trip and we went to the hotel bar one night. Our hotel was right on a main snowmobile trail. So a friend and I are sitting at the bar having a few beers when a few snowmobilers come in and order wings. The wings come out and they devour them in like 2 seconds. Then one guy picks up his carcasses and starts pouring salt on them and continues sucking on the bones for at least 30 minutes while continuously pouring more and more salt on. My friends and I were sitting there drinking our beers in amazement!

The reason I am telling you this story is... well... you could of done that to your chicken! :lmao::lmao::lmao:

Great pictures from the Lion King & camp Minnie Mickey!

(huh, look at that. Lots of pictures, very little words. Must be a lazy Friday afternoon.:thumbsup2)
Some things are best left unsaid. ::yes::

My favorite monkey is on the ground on the right. :lovestruc
LOL And Barry got the 'perfect' angle for you too! ;) :lmao::lmao:

Not many words in this update (and there was much rejoicing throughout the land!). We had a pretty sweet spot for the parade, with Cinderella Castle as a background.
What a great spot for the parade! LOVE the pics! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

In the battle of Barry vs Tim...I'm fully in your court Barry.

(Psst Tim...I think he will fall for it.)

No routing for Timmy here...nope...all Barry all the time!

(See how I just called you Timmy...he knows you hate that and no self respecting Tim supporter would ever call you Timmy...ain't that right Timmy...umm Tim.)

I think they should re-name that ride "The New Jersey Turnpike Experience".

:lmao: I agree! Altho my last experience on the NJP I sat in traffic for an hour because of a 300lb Black Bear.:confused3 Actually made it a little less irritating being caused by a bear instead of humans tho.:rotfl2:
