Everyone else gets to ride the fun rides.. 1st Family Trip May2010(top 5..9/7)

Awww Caitlin looked so cute waiting in the Test Track line! She told me on the phone the other day she didn't wear her Minnie ears at all! I knew she wouldn't!

great report ..can't wait to read more!

:welcome:

Can't wait to hear about your trip:cool1:

Wish I could talk DH into a 10 day trip. He can't stand Disney and it takes alot of bribing to get him there:laughing:

DH didn't really have a choice in the matter. I asked him how many vaca days he had left and proceeded to book the airfare. Then, I told him which days he needed to take off.

Your daughter is so pretty with those big beautiful eyes! I am excited to tag along on this trip! Your hubby sounds a lot like mine - doesn't get the Disney hype, but he goes along with us - just not as enthusiastically as I'd like for him to. Oh yea - he likes to rest that first night, too, and not go into the parks. Good for you for convincing your's to go to Epcot that night!

:welcome:

I wish DH would get into Disney more. I mentioned to him about going to a local amusement park over the summer and he whined about how he was just in Disney for 10 days. He said not to bring up anything for 6 months that involves leaving our city. :scared1:
What is there to do in CT in Nov?

:welcome:

I'm so excited that Caitlin loved her first ride at Disney! :yay:

I couldn't believe she made it through the long wait. By the end of the trip she would head the other way if she saw a long line and refuse to wait.

Subbing so I could go back to read!

:welcome:

What a cute pic of Caitlin in front of SSE!

I'm so glad she enjoyed her 1st ride. That is an exceptionally long wait for a little one. Glad to hear she did so well with it.

My kids love the Seas and Figment. Sam can jam in front of the music makers forever. I have to drag him out of there sometimes.

Hey, you would have had the perfect time if fireworks that would hae been at 9 that night.

What a wonderful afternoon at Epcot. Looking forward to see what happens next!

I think they were a bit girlie. She finally decided she wanted to wear them on the last day when she was about 20 minutes from her pirate cruise. Yes, that would look lovely with the pirate bandana.

I tried to buy her cute minnie hats or a princess hat to help cover her head from the sun. Guess which hat she picked out?

She looked very cute the entire 3 hours she wore it. Then, she never wore it again.

I couldn't believe she made it through the whole line without whining. The rest of the days were much better since we were able to use fastpasses. There were a few times we couldn't get them and we'd ask her if she wanted to wait. She always said no to waiting. Unless of course it was a line to see a character who could sign her autograph book.

great pics from POR!! Aren't the grounds just gorgeous there?! I'm glad Caitlin loved Test Track...just the wait is not so fun! She's just too cute though!glad you were able to snag an Ohana ADR...going to go to your Dining Review and check out the yummy pictures! You folks had a long but a great first day! Can't wait for more!

Isn't that always the case?!?!;)
She had no problem waiting about an hour to meet Jedi Mickey and R2. Then again ,she was sitting in a stroller eating popcorn, so I'm sure that helped.

POR is so pretty. I loved the brown river. My favorite was walking out of the front of Magnolia Terrace and looking down the river towards the other bridge. Pictures just can't capture how pretty it is.

Alright moving on to Day 2.....

Day 2 May 23

I woke up around 6 and everyone else was up around 6:30. We had a 7:30am ADR for breakfast at Ohana. We drove to the Poly and checked in early. They weren't open yet so we sat around for a bit. We skipped the family picture and went right into breakfast. We all loved the food and the juice. It was Caitlin’s first character interaction and she was a little shy. She wouldn’t move from her seat but loved having her picture taken and loved watching the characters around the restaurant. She warmed up a few days later and by the end finding the characters was her favorite thing to do.

Some Poly pictures

Making a wish. Caitlin made us stop at every single wishing place she saw. She is convinced whatever she wishes for will come true. So far she has not gotten a real dragon from How to Train your Dragon and Alvin and the Chipmunks have not come to live with us, so I think she is beginning to realize you don't always get what you wish for.

Ohana has Stitch, Lilo, Mickey and Pluto. Stitch is Caitlin’s favorite character and she has a soft spot for Pluto since he was her favorite when she was little and watched Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.

We were right next to the door where the characters came out, so DD was their first visit of the day.

I don't know why I always take pictues of ducks in Disney. There are just so much cuter is FL for some reason.

We were out of Ohana by 8:10 and headed over to EPCOT. This wasn’t in our plans but we decided to get there early so we could squeeze in Soarin and Test Track without waiting forever. We waited in the huge crowd for the park to open and we all headed straight to Soarin. It was only about a 15-20 minute wait. Am I the only one who thinks Soarin is a little overrated? I think I need to be in the front row. The feet dangling in front of me really distracted me.

Next, we headed to Test Track. There was a small wait for that too. After riding the two rides we headed back to POR to get ready for Blizzard Beach. We made it to BB around 10:30. It wasn’t very crowded in the beginning which was nice. We brought one of those disposable water cameras there so I’ll post those once they are developed.

Blizzard Beach was okay for me. John went off to Summit Plummet while I toke Caitlin on the slides in the pre-teen area. I used to love huge waterslides and will go on if there if there is no wait, but didn’t feel like waiting this day for Summit Plummet. I just hate the whole bathing suit wedgie you get and having to pull it out as you get off the slide. Once John got back we all went on the slides were you race each other. They were fun. Overall BB was okay. I think I am just over water parks all together. We have still never tried TL so we may try it next time, but if no one wanted to go to a water park again that would be okay with me.

We finished up at BB and headed back to POR where John and Caitlin hit the pool. It was very crowded but what else could you expect when you plan a trip the week before Memorial Day.

I took a walk around the Mansion section and then headed over to the food court to try the Magic Cookie Bar.

I ended up cutting the walk short b/c I was starting to get a blister. I never managed to walk the whole resort or see the AB section.

After her swim in the pool Caitlin took a little nap

How cute was that pic of Caitlin napping :lovestruc Swimming always exhausts me out. The grounds around the Mansions are so beautiful. You really got some great pics :thumbsup2

Day 2 Continued

We had an ADR for Le Cellier at 4:35 so we left POR around 3:45pm. We went straight to Canada and were seated pretty quickly. I thought Le Cellier was pretty good. The mashed potatoes were great. I would go back some day but it’s not on my must do list.

IMG_0410.jpg

Caitlin was a little grumpy after just waking up

IMG_0411.jpg

It was agreed that tonight would be all World Showcase. We saw some characters such as Marie, Aladdin and Jasmine, and the beast but Caitlin didn’t want to meet them. She regretted this later and we tried to make it back to EPCOT later in the trip but never did.

At some point we hit Test Track again with the fast pass we grabbed before leaving in the morning
It was having some technical difficulties and kept stopping on the part when you increase 30% and go up the hill with the speed limit signs. Very annoying. There was no increase of speed, we just slowly made our way up. At least once we hit the outdoor track everything was working again.

IMG_0428.jpg

(note about DD Pluto- Caitlin had about $120 total from her piggybank, Grandma and Great Grandma. I put DH in charge b/c I knew I would give in whenever she wanted something. She saw this Pluto at POR's gift shop the first day but I told her she needed to wait until she saw what else was out there. All she talked about for the next 24 hrs was getting this pluto. So she got it the next day. What happened later. She saw the baby Pluto that comes with the blanket. She was going to get that later too, but when we went to the store that had it in DHS she picked the baby Marie with the blanket instead)

It was really hot and we were all tired so DH wanted to call it a night. I had other plans though. I had to do Pick a Pearl. I had told DH on Mother’s Day that was what I wanted for my gift so he couldn’t argue now. Off to Japan. DH paid for mine and I decided I would pay for the pearl for Caitlin. I had already ordered the Cinderella cage off of EBAY for her. We picked our pearls. Caitlin got a 6 ¾ and I got an 8.

I picked my setting but decided to hold off until we got home to buy the chain. I'm sure I could get a cheaper on when Macy's has a sale or something.

Pick a Pearl was fun. One thing that annoyed me was the crowd standing by the tanks. No one was buying anything, they were just watching. It was hard to even get a little space to pick my pearl. I understand wanting to see but could you back up a little so I can see what to pick. I found a little spot and picked the ugliest one I could see in the space spot I could see.

While we were waiting for my pearl to be put in the setting we headed over to France to try a Grey Goose Slushie.
IMG_0427.jpg

Once picked up my pearl, we headed out. John and Caitlin wanted to make their own lightsabers so we headed back to POR to take the boat to DTD.

Wow. DTD was a madhouse. People were everywhere. We headed to World of Disney b/c I totally forgot the lightsaber place was in Once Upon a Toy. We made it there and found the station. I found it a little confusing. After awhile a CM came over and helped make Caitlin's lightsaber. It was getting late and we decided we would do the other one once we went to DHS.
IMG_0436.jpg

One of the only pictures I got of DTD. It was packed.

When we got off the boat we saw the huge line to go back to POR and the ride takes awhile so we decided to take the bus back to POR. It was our first and last ride on the bus. I don't know how people do it. The bus was packed. I think I'll stick with renting a car. (Then again, DH did all the driving. I'm sure if I was by myself I would choose the buses. I have much more patience in Disney than DH)

She never, ever takes naps at home. I was glad I put in some extra time to return to the hotel almost everyday b/c she needed them. She would say she just wanted to lay down for a couple minutes, and then she was out cold.

Joining in! popcorn:: We stayed at POR last year and LOVED the grounds. It was so peaceful there. We stayed in Alligator Bayou and we were surrounded by trees and meandering walkways. We also stayed at a time when there was hardly anyone there. It was absolutely gorgeous!

We  POR. Even DH said it was beautiful and he is tough to please. (He went to grab a soda one night when DD and I went to bed early and ended walking the grounds for over an hour.

I would love to go back again although AKL is calling my name. If AKL isn't in the budget POR is first on our list when we return.

It was very busy when we were there but we rarely saw other people walking the grounds. The main pool was pretty busy and at main meal times the food court had a little crowding but other than that you would never know the resort was full of people.

:surfweb: I liked the pics of O'hanas. We are going to see Stitch for the first time this trip. Your daughter has the prettiest eyes. It feels like just yesterday my DD was that age.

It sounds like this was a great day! Yall had great seats at Ohana. Sorry to hear Caitlin was a little unsure of the characters at first.

Yall had a busy morning - Epcot and BB. We love BB! Of course, I have 2 bouys and a DH that can't get enough of them. We spend FULL days there - open to close.

Your evening in WS sounds lovely. We don't spend nearly enough time there. Your pearl setting looks lovely, as does Caitlin's.

It always seems that DTD is packed at night. We had a day a couple of years ago that Cooper was really strugglng with a sinus infection, and we went to DTD around lunch time. Let me tell you. That place was as emty as empty can get.

As far as the buses are concerened, we only bus to theme parks. We driive to DTD, water parks, and any resort we are dining at for the evening. To us, bussing to those three places is just a hassle. We have wonderful luck with buses...minimal waits and very rarely are we on a bus with standing room only. That only happened twice to us for our trip last week.

joining in!!:upsidedow Loving the TR !!! So jealous about the 2 doses of Ohanas!! Also I currently live in NC and yes there are sonics everywhere!! where did u live? Cant wait to read more:surfweb:. Subbing

You will love Ohana breakfast. It was great.
I know that before I know it DD will be a teenager. That is why I kept pressuring DH to go back while she is still young. We'll see.

It was a fun, but busy day. WS was nice, but we barely saw anything. DH was in a hurry to get out of there. We never even saw Illuminations on this trip!

I will have to try the buses again. It seems like it would be easier when going to MK than having to do the whole TTC, tram, monorail thing. (Although I do love the tram and monorail)

Kimi

We live in CT and they are currently building a Sonics about an hour from us. They also closed a Krispy Kreme a few miles away and it is rumored Sonics will be replacing it.:yay: That would be great.
