Your designes are great. I would like to request the following for our first trip to Disney in May.
Fab Five Ears-Names: Jason, Angie, Quentin & Claire
(2) Mickey Bow Tie Ears- (1) Jason & (1) Quentin
(2) Minnie Red Bow Ears - (1) Angie & (1) Claire
I"ve read this board over and over but cannot find instructions on what to do once I receive them. I know I need to print them on a transfer but not sure if I need to flip the image or anything. Any help is appreciated.
Thank you,
Angie
OK there is a thread called something like "20 steps to dark transfers" which explains everything... should be on the first page or so on the Creative DISigns board. Basically you need to know what color shirt you are putting the designs on.
If it is a white shirt, you will need a light transfer. Light transfers require you to mirror your image (Word does this easily), and anything that is white on the design is transparent on the transfer so it will take on the color of the shirt -- which is why I recommend light transfers only for white shirts. You cut these out close to the design, but it doesn't have to be exact. Edges of the transfer blend into the white shirt since the transfer itself is transparent (except where you printed).
If it is a colored shirt, you will need a dark transfer. Dark transfers do NOT require that you mirror your image. On either type, read the directions thoroughly first! On dark transfers, you peel the transfer before you iron... it's the opposite for light transfers. On dark transfers, anything you see on the image print out will look like that on your shirt (whites are white). So on dark transfers you cut your transfer out along the edge of your design -- any extra you leave will look messy on your shirt.
If you go to my photobucket album (link in signature), you can easily see the difference in the two types of transfers. Look in the album called "Finished Shirts". Look at these 3 shirts:
1. The Mickey Head with the Tiara -- that's a dark transfer on a dark shirt. I had to cut it out exactly, and I cut in the crown with an exacto knife. It took a while but turned out nice.
2. The castle design that has the sil. of the castle and mouse ears -- that is a LIGHT transfer on a dark shirt. See how the transparent parts aren't as transparent as you'd think? Where I didn't cut away the white space on the transfer, I ended up with a haze -- makes it an obvious iron on. Still wearable, but not my fave.
3. The Tink kneeling over "Aunt Joanna" -- light transfer on a white shirt. I didn't cut right up to the design, but you can't see the extra transfer at all. It looks professional and was easy easy easy to do since I didn't have to cut so carefully.

It's one of my best shirts.
Ok, hope that helps.

Good luck!
