i have a ? (i know there's a big surprise!!!!!) if i'm making a topper it should be 8 X 2 right? and then if i double mat it what's the size of the top one? do i cut off a 1/4 inch or a 1/2 inch????

Your choice.

I've made toppers that are 8X2 with 7-3/4x1-3/4 and 7-1/2x1-1/2 layers and just the 7-1/2x1-1/2 layer(if using the cut out/shadowed letters)
