Interesting point: who's more likely to go postal -- an overworked CM making minimum wage dealing with cranky guests all the time, or someone paying $$$'s to go to the MK?I just hope they're doing something behind the scenes to screen every CM and delivery truck entering through the back door. Or none of what they're doing out front matters.
I don't see that as sarcastic. I see it as entirely possible. In an age when you have to stop at the California border to declare whether or not you're carrying fruits or vegetables, and BICE can stop you within 100 miles of the border just to see if you're an American citizen, there's nothing stopping Disney from doing pre-entry vehicle checks at the WDW borders.<sarcasm> Why don't we just set up a border style checkpoint for everyone entering Dis property. They can ask if we have anything to declare and do vehicle searches, canine sniffing etc. <sarcasm end>
Since the unions and government have fought to overturn every policy Disney has in place concerning their employees I doubt they'd be able to get away with that.Interesting point: who's more likely to go postal -- an overworked CM making minimum wage dealing with cranky guests all the time, or someone paying $$$'s to go to the MK?
If disney truly wants no guns, etc on its property, the only way to do that is to have the security be at the entrance go the entire property. In the past I might have laughed that idea off as so unlikely, but unfortunately I don't think it is anymore.I don't see that as sarcastic. I see it as entirely possible. Wouldn't it be funny if they found out magic bands set off the metal detectors?
I actually thought maybe it did. I didn't have mine on when I went in yesterday. It was on my bag strapWouldn't it be funny if they found out magic bands set off the metal detectors?
So maybe they need security to enter the security area?

They haven't done anything to the back roads to access the parks. Anyone local could show you where the cast lots are, where the warehouses and maintenance buildings are, and how close you can drive to a park. A wrong turn out of a resort can easily get you on the back side of a park without a question. They haven't done anything to the back roads to access the parks. Indeed. One year we stayed at WLThey haven't done anything to the back roads to access the parks. People can't be that paranoid if they can't see their child for a few seconds (who is standing with a guard)
Downtown disney at dlr isn't part of this either, I don't believe, as security is for entering the esplanade, and DTD there is before that side's esplanade entranceAs long as he was visible I personally wouldn't have had a problem with DS standing with a true security person for a few minutes when he was little. I don't know if these people dressed up as phone salesmen are true security people.
I was wondering... Why all of this security just for the parks? Couldn't bad things happen at Disney Springs or at the resorts? Citywalk is at least past the Universal security checkpoint due to layout but even their resorts aren't included in all of this.
Let's not make a big deal about "the children are separated from their parents." It's not like they took the children into a separate room on the other side of Disney. People can't be that paranoid if they can't see their child for a few seconds (who is standing with a guard). I am guessing they could probably still see their parents but the parent just had to go thru the detector. If little Johnny is going to get that shaken up, maybe one parent can stay behind with the child while the other goes thru and then the child can go meet the parent on the other side of the detector.
