Everthing you wanted to know about Uber/Lyft at WDW

My

My understanding is that theres a bunch of drivers over there that wait on the ships to get in. The Port itself actually will issue permits to Uber drivers, and Im told they all have them. Theres generally not a surge back from the Port, but expect the base rate to be larger.

We are a family of 6 and will need UberXL. Do you think we will have issues with a van being available? Assuming if there's a bunch of drivers that there are several on hand to accommodate larger families? (At least I'm hoping that's the case).

Theres plentof XLs around. A lot are minivans, and a few of them (like me) are large SUVs

A couple quick questions. Will Uber Black have vehicles at MCO that can accommodate 6 with luggage or are they strictly town cars? If not, are people still taking shuttles from the airport to hotels to then pick up uber outside of MCO or have the hotels cracked down on that? I don't want to start a debate about the appropriateness of doing so. If the hotels aren't addressing it by asking for a confirmation number before getting on their shuttle then I'm going to assume it is a non issue for them.

There is a black suv option which would gty that. Think Yukons or Suburbans. Having said that, most of them take requests on both, do you may have an sub driver take a normal black request.

Having said that, going back to MCO XL would be the largest available. Its about half the price, but you wont fit all 6 and the luggage in one car most likely. While not impossible, its unlikely youll find a huge $70k behemoth suv operating for xL rates. As i mentioned earlier today, XLs will be minivans or large (but not huge)SUVs (buick enclave, gmc acadia, etc)

Thanks Rob. :) Good to know about the black SUV option. :thumbsup2 Not concerned with the return trip to MCO. We have a minivan and have no issues with 3 suitcases and some smaller carry ons in the back.

Where in the airport do we meet uber black SUV drivers?

I believe its on the rental car level. The app will tell you

We will be staying at the Yatch Club. Would like to go to the closest Super Target, not ordinary Target. Either from the Yatch Club or Disney Springs. What would we have to do to get a ride by Uber? I do not have Uber where I live so have no clue how it works.

You need an Android or Apple smart phone or tablet, preferably with cell data service, but you may be able to get by with wifi. Download the Uber app from the app store, and register a payment method in the app, either a credit card or PayPal. When you're ready to ride, just open the app, confirm your pickup location, enter the destination, and request a ride. Fares are charged to your registered payment method; no cash is involved unless you want to tip the driver.

After you arrive at your destination, you can rate your driver 1-5; you should rate them 5 unless there's a problem, as anything less is considered a bad rating by Uber. You can also enter a feedback comment to the driver, either good (for a 5) or bad.

To expand a bit more, you'll need to find out the address of the nearest Super Target before you request your ride. The driver won't necessarily know. Just use the Target website to find the one nearest to Disney, unless someone here happens to know. If there is one. Not all towns have them. You'll need it so you can enter the address as your destination when you make the request on the app

The Android Uber app does allow you to search for a destination, using Google as a server. Just type Target in the destination box, then close the keyboard and click "Search for Target" at the bottom of the screen. It also seems to use your recent Google search results as suggestions, so if you search for and display it on your Google account ahead of time, it will probably pop up as soon as you start typing "Target".

The 2 Targets closest to WDW are both Super. The one on Rolling Oaks is newer and gets better reviews on Yelp. It's a couple of miles farther from DS, but about the same distance from YC.

We used Skippy's Transportation, they have big vans that can handle many different party sizes w their luggage. We had a Van that could hold 12 (although we were 4) and the price was only $60 including tip, and tax.
For transportation from the Wyndham bonnet creek, we relied on Uber for everywhere, from WBC it was only 5-10 bucks depending on where you were going. Saana restaurant was the furthest. Never waited longer than 7 minutes, it was great to just use your phone for a quick pickup into a air conditioned car. They were allowed to do pickups and drop offs at any disney park or resort except of course MK, where we got dropped off at the Contemporary and walked the 5 minutes. We used WinPointVIP for a great rate for a 2 BR deluxe w no taxes or fees - $182/night

Where are Uber drivers allowed to pick up by Disney Springs? The bus wait there can be an eternity sometimes. If it is not too expensive I'd just as soon catch an Uber car back to the YC in the evening.

How do Uber drivers feel about picking up wet guests at the water parks? We are considering using Uber in August for water park transport (both ways from our resort) but I feel really bad about leaving a car with wet seats. Changing at the water parks is not an option, unfortunately, for a few reasons, so we will be wearing our swimsuits.

Personally, Ive found that people coming out of the waterparks arent really all that wet. I have leather so it dries fast anyways. If a driver has an issue, then they shouldn't accept a request from a waterpark imho. :)

We are thinking about a one night stay at a Disney Springs non Disney hotel before our check-in to The Grand Floridian the next day. We got great airfare for late that evening. We have used Uber a bit while at WDW, but never from MCO. Could you provide an approximate estimated rate from MCO to Disney Springs hotel area - would be a Froday evening around 9:00 PM. Thank you!!

Regular Uber can't pick you up at MCO. You'll have to get off site and then get transportation. It may be wiser/easier to stay in a hotel that offers MCO pick up. Uber Black can pick up at MCO but it's about the same price as a regular taxi
Something we do when we arrive late is go on to Disney and stay a night in a value resort. Their rates are typically lower than most off site locations

UberBlack has been there since December. Quotes can be done via the app
