Everest Ride Contest: VERY upset with VMK right now

This is why for our team, before we submitted it, we made sure that each potential team member had substantial start at a room. The room names had to be decided. Teleporters leading to other rooms were installed. So if somebody never showed up again, we would be okay.

There were a couple of iffy people who wanted to be on the team....one got his act together and got his room 80% done before the deadline, and another would only say that she had a plan and lots of cubes, but it would be a surprise. Guess who was put on the team and which one wasn't? I wanted to make sure that things were fairly definite by the time we signed up.

My team was disqualified. They didn't tell us why and I am sure that our room title was in the dictionary. In fact I sat in my rooms and types in each word just to make sure.

I have a feeling that one of our team members might have been registered with another team. I know that one person was trying to decide which team they wanted to be on. If that other team put her name in and we did as well.

Sigh...it doesn't seem right that many people on team have to be disqualified for a mistake. I would have liked to have been notified a little more in advance and have had the opportunity to correct it.

I am trying to tell myself it's just a game it's just a game but there is a team here and a lot of people put HOURS into making these rooms.

I am going to sell off my rooms now. I am so mad and it is easier to sell them than to have to pick up every piece of track.

It is just discouraging knowing that this is a disney game and this is how they spread their "pixie-dust". Everything else I have to say has already been mentioned, mostly by Goofy, but I will say that this does NOT sound like Disney spirit to me. :sad2:

My team leader submitted room names that aren't allowed in the dictionary (without thinking first) - but VMK had no problems accepting the application. We're going to make modifications to room titles now.

Either way, it's a realy bummer to hear about all these teams that won't be able to compete. It seems silly that if a person appears on more than 1 list, that it disqualifies the entire team. VMK should just boot that single person from both teams rather than everyone.

This happen to my team too! We are upset. We are all kids too!I don't think VMK is being very fair with the contest, or selling bat magic on the same weekend.Everyone spent all their money on their rides, and they make bat magic 10,000 credits? Who decided this?It means carpet will be twice as much. 20,000 credits. That makes me SOOO happy! NOT.Cape, we should send in about our teams over and over and over again. It may not help our teams, but it will teach VMK a lesson. Two words. THOSE JERKS.

Wow! This whole competetion seems much more trouble than it's worth. I agree that it seems silly that they have made it so difficult. Like many posters have mentioned, this VMK is geared towards children! If many adults are getting disqualified, just imagine how many upset kids are out there who have also gotten disqualified. Burns me up. I'm so sorry that many of you have had such trouble with it, but glad I didn't put any effort into it!

This is for everyone who received the rejection letter from the Everest Ride Competition...

I submitted my team's application on Sunday, Feb 12 before 10pm PST. I then received an e-mail from VMK stating that my application was not accepted. I sent a letter through the VMK home page asking why exactly our team was disqualified. I did not receive an e-mail back, so I called Disney On-line and was transferred to speak with someone with player support for VMK. I explained the situation and assured her that we did absolutely nothing wrong and didn't break any rules. She said that she would look into it and get back to me.

Today, an hour and a half before the competition, she gets back to me and explains that my application was submitted to the web site after midnight PST which is completely untrue. I am positive that I sent in my team's application before 10pm on Sunday, Feb 12. I have two "witnesses" who play VMK who helped me submit it and were with me at the time. The woman I spoke with from player support said she can have them look at their computer stystem and possibly it is a bug, but nobody else complained stating that they really had submitted their application before 10pm and if they had, maybe there really could have been a bug.

I think it is difficult for people to get a hold of someone from VMK in the first place. Second of all, with their very vague rejection letter e-mail, I am sure that people just assumed that one of their team members were on another team or they "dictionary danced" and would not think that it could be a techinical glitch and did not pursue it further. For all of you who did receive that rejection letter, please contact VMK and let them know that you did submit your application before the deadline of 10pm PST on Sunday, Feb 12th. Also, they really should have accepted applications up until 11:59 because they only stated in their "rules" that applications need to be submitted on Sun, Feb 12th and technically any time between 10pm and 11:59pm is still Sun, Feb 12th. She told me that she will question them again, but she probably wouldn't hear back from them until Monday which is after the competition is over.

I am very put off by this whole situation among other ways that VMK is run. I don't mind at all that I can't fairly be judged for the competition, but I feel awful for my 13 other team mates because they can't fairly be judged after putting in many hours of their time and spending thousands of credits on their rooms. I am very sorry that I dissapointed them...all because of a computer glitch with VMK's system. Has anyone noticed that a lot of the time the "am's and pm's" are mislabeled on the VMK Calendar page? Is that another time glitch they have?

Good luck to all of you who are actually entered into the competition. I am looking forward to seeing your rooms. I know I will have fun just helping to run our ride and talking to everybody in VMK. Everyone should come check out Base Camp Everest Time Journey because I think my team members came up with awesome looking rooms and I know you all with love their rooms too!

Here is a copy of the letter I received regarding my initial application...

Hi everyone:

I've been away all week, just got back this evening. I was able to log onto VMK a few times briefly while I was away, and we never got any news that our team is able to compete this weekend. I am thoroughly disgusted with this entire "contest". CapeCAD and I really don't care about our own disappointment, but hey, we did put a ton of time, energy, and credits into our rooms; but the real problem here is that so many CHILDREN have been disqualified for one unacceptable reason or another. I don't know how VMK can claim that their target audience is ages 10-14, that it goes against VMK Values for people to try and contact each other outside of the game, but then they go and run a contest this way which is extremely difficult, at best, especially for kids trying to coordinate an event such as this.

Whatever....I'm aggravated and extremely disappointed...and I guess I've said all I can say about this. :rolleyes1

Same here. I have the email satestamped. You can lie to me but you can't lie to my hard drive......

As a member of dancplanet's team, I would like to extend a cordial invitation to all DIS members to drop by and take the journey through Disney rides past and present in search of the Yeti. I know danceplanet submitted in plenty of time and suspect it was a time glitch on the other end. We are proud of our rooms and look forward to meeting all the intrepid explorers who are willing to dare to ride through tea cups, mountains, and forbidden temples to find Yeti. Base Camp Everest Time Journey will be open throughout the competition for your exploration.

I almost didn't participate at all due to my lack of confidence in these room events; especially when my own team had to dissolve to real world time issues of our team leader. From things I've heard, there are a lot of teams that have been rejected. So, let's just enjoy and carry on anyway. I know I am looking forward to seeing all the terrific rooms out there when I am not manning my team's base camp.

You know what really gets me....

We met up with two staff members in the last couple of days (grasping at straws for last minute chances of getting into the contest) and asked them to ride our everest ride.

They both did.

When both of them finished, they said they loved it, and it was too bad we were not still in the contest from such a tiny mistake.
VMK_#### said that he wished he could do something about it. Well who put this event on?? Didn't staff put it on?? Shouldn't there have been something he could've done???

I am not sure who exactly put on this event, but shouldn't the opinion of two staff members count for anything??

I am just so confused right now... :confused3 :confused3 :confused3 :worried: :worried: :(

I just got a message in VMK saying that our team ride will now be able to be judged this weekend! I will be sending a great big thank you letter to VMK! Thanks to everyone for their kind words and a big thank you to my awesome friends on the team for all their hard work and dedication and for not giving up!

Thanks, VMK!

Yea!!! I am so happy for you. Dancplanet - I loved your Matterhorn. The whole ride was great.

What? VMK is going to allow you to compete?? OMG! Are they finally getting it? Woohoo! That's great news, Dance! Now if we can get them to let everyone play....
Good luck! Your ride is awesome!

I just rode CapeCad's and Capegirl's ride and it was great
Sorry it couldn't have been judged. It was a lot of fun.

I am almost to the point of wishing we had gotten a rejection letter for this thing. With the numerous DQ's, DC's, slow teleporters and closes... this is quickly becoming the worst competition of them all.

I road it too, and it was fun. A lot of work went into those rooms.

I hope your ride turned out OK. I am annoyed with this competition too; we put so much work into it and it's all going wrong.

For 1 thing, people in our team have worked so hard only to find no-one came at all! How rude is that!
