Okay, I am new & I thought this would be a fun thread! I hope I'm posting it in the right place.

Has anyone ever WON a trip to Disney..like a sweepstakes or contest? OR have you won a prize big enough to pay for the trip? Know anyone who Did?

Here's my "fun" story: :flower:

When I was 14, (in 1987) my mom WON a trip to Disney! Like the REAL DEAL...all expenses paid for four including airfare, on property Resort, ALL food, anything we wanted, I think it was vouchers?), tickets, EVERYTHING!
We had never been, and it was THE trip of a lifetime.
We stayed at the PICKETT RESORT..does anyone know where/what this resort is now or if it even exisits? My memory fails me & I can't remember where it is on property. All I know is we all thought we had died & gone to heaven...there was a TV in the bathroom... :rotfl: it was an awesome suite!

And get this...she won it by dropping here name (ONE TIME) in a drawing thing at Captain D's I think it was...we just happened to be in there eating & she did it as an afterthought. When someone called here to tell her she won, she about died..thought it was a joke, all that. But when she got the papers (avidavits? & stuff) she KNEW it was real!

ANYWAY, please share your story if you have one! :)

My Dh's SIL has!!

She won a trip for 6 all expense paid from McD's. It was 1989 year MGM and CBR opened. They ate like hogs and really had good time.

I'm still waiting for my big win! Still waiting, still waiting... Till then I'll just have to fund my own trip and send my "Self-Supporting College Income" into the poorhouse once a year-or-so!

DW won a trip to DL from DL a little over a year ago. It was one of the prize entries disney.com had for the new Pooh ride (when it was new) in DL.

The interesting part of the story is that DW was notified as a winner probably 4 or 5 months after the due date of the winner. She asked the group running the contest and they said they drew other winners, but none of them returned the message via e-mail (the contest ran via e-mail notification only). People either changed their e-mail address or had a blocker that didn't take the non-Disney company running the contest. So at least 4 or 5 others probably were winners ahead of DW - but lost out.

I have a story....still trying to believe it so sharing it with others seems to make it more real!!

We just went to WDW Jan. 2005, my husband, myself and our two girls 10 and 6. We had been planning and saving for about a year and a half and it was an awesome first trip.

Well in Sept. 2004, McDonalds was running a contest called Magic for 8 I think in promo for the chicken selects because they were fairly new. We happened to be eating there all together and got the chicken which came with a peel off piece. The piece had a code on it which you entered online along with your name and address.

I have never, ever entered something like this - usually think "nobody wins this stuff"! But because we were planning to go in Jan. I figured we should try to win our trip instead of paying for it. So I entered online once and totally forgot about it.

The day before we left for our trip in January, I answer the door for a FedEx envelope. Inside is paperwork that uses the words "potential winner" and several pages of legal stuff, along with a one page document I was to fill out.

Still I am thinking, no way....I must just be one of hundreds of finalists or something. We go on our trip, have an incredible time, don't want to come home, vow to go back every chance we possibly can, etc...

Middle of Feb. we get a letter that says "CONGRATULATIONS" you have won an all expenses paid Magical Gatherings trip for 8 PEOPLE!!! We are still in shock and its been a month. Nothing like the magic of Disney for you!

So we are going at the beginning of June right after school is out with my sister-in-law and her family. Talk about hard.......choosing who to be able to take with you!! But we got to choose a deluxe resort, we choose Yacht Club, we get all our airfare, park hopper admissions for 5 days and a special magical gathering dinner at Epcot.

We are so excited!! We love Disney and McDonald's!!

Some friends of ours won a land/sea a couple of years ago when they re-financed their house. They went, and loved it, so we went, and loved it. The circle of life (and spending $$ at Disney) continues...

well, we got a big enough tax return this year to pay for our trip... does that count?! LOL!

and last year my kids think we won our trip... we had some issues here at home so i made up a fictional contest to entice the kids to make some changes, and it WORKED! they are already asking if there is another contest this year and can we enter... of course, since dh and i are already planning a trip, we said SURE! teehee!

Hello,

I won an all expense paid trip for 4 to anywhere in the United States, and of course I chose to go to Disneyworld!!! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

The contest was run by my company for the person who acheived the highest sales for a period of time. I couldn't believe when I was told that I won. I didn't even have to think about it for one minute, I turned and looked at my boss and said Disneyworld...HERE WE COME!!!

So my DH and 2 DD's went to MNSSHP 10/2004 for the very first time and it didn't cost us a penny!!!!!!

I did!!! :cheer2: It was 1995 and NBC and Toys R us had the contest. 4 days, 5 nights, airfare, hotel, meals including gratuity, tickets and even boat rentals for 4 people! We got to pick where we wanted to stay and we chose Poly. I'll tell you, I almost wet myself when I opened that certified letter!!! We decided to stay 3 extra days, but because we were paying for it, at ASM! It was definately a let down after the Poly! Guess we should have stayed there first! It was wonderful at both places really, we had a great time. :teeth:

Both of my girlfriends have won trip to WDW. The first one the DH was a trip thru work anywhere he wanted in the U.S. Of course with 2 little kids and disney freaks, they went. The other one won it thru selling Tupperware. Can you believe just for selling tupperware, you can win a trip. She is actually using it in a few months because she was pregnant last year. Some people have all the luck. :flower:

Thanks Guys ~ I am so happy to have found the DIS boards..I LOVE posting! :cool1:

See..people really DO win those contests! I entered the Alamo one..wouldn't it be cool if a dis~er won it?? :goodvibes

Till then..I'll be saving every extra dime I have (literally) to go again! ;)

Me, DH, DS 7 & DS 5 went last May for the 1st time in years..it was even more MAGICAL than I remembered!! :wizard:

Oh, do any of you "disney-lifers" no anything about the Picket resort? Or thats what it was called back in 1987..thats where we stayed when my mom won that trip. I was just wondering what it is now....

Christmas of 2000 I won 50k on a PA lottery scratch off ticket... Which more then covered my Disney expenses:)... Of course I spent it all... 36k spent in less then 5 month's... Boy would I like to do that again:)!!!

You people are soooo lucky!

I got a huge (quite unexpected) tax refund this year, so that's how we are paying for this trip. The thing is, I was NOT expecting a refund AT ALL so it feels like free money. (I know, I know, it was my money to begin with... :rotfl: )

i never won a trip to disney but i did win $4.50 in the florida lotto when we were there in feb...i had to mail in my ticket cause i was home when i found out i won by checking the ticket on-line....so minus the cost of the stamp...i guess i won $4.13... ;)

Congratulations to all winners. May you have many more magical dreams. And to us dreamers who have never won, may the magic sparkle down upon us :wizard:

.. and I never win anything!

I entered a contest at our local minor league baseball park, and got picked to be one of about 12 people selected to answer Disney movie trivia questions after the game. We each got one question at a time, and if you missed it, you were out. I was the last one standing by answering that Nemo is a clown fish. Well duh!

I won a trip for 2, including airfare, 4-day/3-night WDW hotel, and 3-day park hopper with pluses. The hotel was "best available", so when we booked for early November 2004, we ended up with a Contermporary tower room!
