Ever let the chef decide?

In looking at 2-3 of the signature menus, I think to myself everything looks good! Which will just end up with me taking for frickin' EVER to choose. So I wondered if anyone at any of the signature restaurants has ever told their waiter that everything looks too good to choose between, so you'd like to leave it up to the chef's recommendation (well, clearly at the chefs table, but I'm talking regular dining room). I imagine on one hand it might be okay as it could appeal to a chef to have his/her taste and experience trusted, but on the other hand, might they think, "schmucks, don't they think I have other things going on?!"

So I wonder...has anyone ever given this a try at WDW signature, and how successful was the experience?

I drive my hubby crazy with something like this. I will select a few items that look great and then ask the waiter/waitress..."Which do you recommend?" I HAVE NEVER been disappointed doing this.

At fine dining establishments, I'm big on trusting the chef and his staff with my meal. I'll ask a server for his recommendations, and if there's some decision to be made, like how I'd like a particular item cooked, I always say "how the chef recommends." I also tend not to ask for components of a dish to be removed or substituted. If there's an ingredient I dislike or can't have, I'd rather choose something else than compromise the flavor of the meal. It tends to make me pretty satisfied with my dining experience. I don't use these same guidelines at diners and chain establishments, however. I'm sure some places would roll their eyes at my pretension. :)
