We've never flown AirTran.....will we regret it or is it ok? Found good rate for 1 way from San Antonio to MCO.

I have flown AirTran about 6 or 7 times and have always had a good experience. I would advise you the pay the extra $$ to pick out your seats when you book, otherwise you may end up with no seat assignment or not sitting near each other. Make sure you factor in those costs as well as the luggage fees when comparing airfares to get the accurate comparison. :thumbsup2

I suggest you book it now. Many visitors have flown AirTran with good results.

Love to travel with them, just wish they didn't charge for bags. Maybe since Southwest bougth them out that will change soon.:thumbsup2

We've used them several times. Its always been a good experience. We have paid for the seat assignments a few times, but other times we just picked our seats at the 24 hour mark, and had no problem getting 3 seats together.

I have flown quite a few times, most recently last week and this week. They are great. I upgrade to business class, two bags are free, first class type seating. It will be sad to see them gone.

This question gets asked frequently on this board and you will find that the majority of people like Airtran. The main things that people complain about are that their flight times get changed and that they have to pay for luggage. You will find that most Airtran flyers will also tell you to buy your seats.

We fly Airtran exclusively and have always had a good experience.

If you've got a good rate, book it!

No problems flying Airtran here either...loved them.
IF you have a family with kids and it is important to sit by them you need to purchase seat assignments prior to the 24 hour mark. Sure some people have luck getting seats together at that time but you need to decide if it is worth the risk. Families have been separated and not seated by kids ....it is not fair to ask someone who purchased a seat to move for you. This is only if you have young kids and want to sit with them...sure you might get lucky and get seats BUT most flights to Orlando are families with kids, flights are full these days, for peace of mind buy seats together if it is important.

have a good trip:goodvibes

Agreed - can only hope that SW keeps some of the best aspects of Airtran. The business class upgrades are a no-brainer if you have bags to check and enjoy a cocktail or two. I have also found that the in-flight personnel are some of the friendliest I've ever encountered.

Also agree with the poster who recommended that you pay for your seat assignment - if you later want to pay to upgrade to business class, they will apply any fees paid for seat assignments.

The only complaints I've really heard about Airtran are regarding the change of flight times. This has only happened to us once, and it was only a 15 minute difference.

We pretty much fly AirTran exclusively to Orlando. On about 8 flights with them, we've never been delayed, canceled, or had any issues whatsoever. I would also recommend paying the extra to get a confirmed seat, otherwise there's a good chance your party may not be together. I'm not anxious to see what happens once the SW/AirTran merger completes. I'm not a fan of SW, so we'll see what happens, but I'm afraid they're going to ruin and/or take away what I like about AirTran as they force them into SW's model.

I've never had any problems flying AirTran. I've only ever flown them to & from Orlando. Everyone used to say how great Midwest was before Frontier bought it, but I had more problems with them with flights being delayed, baggage being damaged, etc.

We've flown AirTran a few times and never had a problem. I can't say that it was a memorable experience, but sometimes that's a good thing.

Enjoy your flight.
