DH has been home recovering from having his kidney taken out Aug 9th. I believe he's finally going back to work Oct 3rd.
He has not been helping out at home - grass needs to be mowed (he hastn done it once this year!) wont go grocery shopping with me, windows need to be cleaned, floors need to be vacuumed, etc, etc, etc. I understand he cant lift yet which is why he hasnt retd to work but cant he do something?! clean a freaking window?!
It got real bad this past Thurs when he didnt bring home a paycheck! Actually he brought home $60 which went directly into his pocket for booze instead of to the checking act for bills! I feel like he's been sitting on his butt letting the world go around him.

oooh, I am so sorry...going thru the same scenario here. Other than rant with you, I can only offer you prayers that your situation gets better. :grouphug:

Are you serious? Your husband is home recovering from having major surgery and you want him to wash a window? :confused3

He's been home 7wks now! Its not like I really expect him to push the lawn mower! but to go grocery shopping with me? wash a window? where's the heaviness in that?
I dont see why he cant do anything besides sit in the cellar and drink?

Do you have a job or are you home all day? If he works (disability or not), I think that the tasks you listed are predominantly YOUR responsbility anyway.

As for having a kidney removed--that is MAJOR. Heck, I had my thyroid gland removed and it took me a long time to recover from that. I can't even imagine a kidney.

I know it's frustrating to have it ALL fall on you, but sometimes it happens. If you work outside the home, I would see about getting some paid help.

Well, he IS recovering from major surgery. Have your son help out. I'm sure he's capable of cutting the grass. Heck for that matter, you can cut it too. Grass cutting isn't only a man's job.

As for the paycheck thing...didn't you think of him being off work for a while? I think I would have skipped the 2 week disney vacation and saved that money for household expenses. Plus, I would have never left him home to recover from a major surgery alone in the first place.

I dont see why he cant do anything besides sit in the cellar and drink?
Have you considered that he might be a little depressed at not being able to help out his family? Or maybe he's just hiding out to get away from your nagging.

Yes I work outside the home! If I didnt I would expect to always have to do all the housework! Duh
I work 5 full days outside the home too - Mon-Fri 930-5
