Ever "bumped" from a resort due to overbooking?

We got 'walked' from POR in Dec 2004. Got in at 10:30 PM, waited for over a half hour at check-in (so I knew something was wrong), and were told they would put us in another moderate. I politely stated that at such a late hour, we would like to be moved to a deluxe. We got AKL for 79/night!:cool1: I was happy.

Ugh. This thread has me really, really nervous.

Now I'm terrified about being walked. I've got special requests on my room due to health issues- I wonder would that make them less likely to try to bump us to another resort? Traveling with 2 stroke survivors (of which I am one and the other is a senior) and a recent widow- if they bump us I think my friend might quite literally come unglued.

:/
Any words of encouragement ya'll can offer me?

If you give them the explanation above and maintain that this is very important to you, they'll "find" you a room. I've been bumped from non-Disney hotels, but when I emphasized that this was a much-anticipated vacation, we received a substantial upgrade.

A helpful tip for those out there: Priceline and other internet discount rates were the first to go. Certainly not the guy who had stayed 30+ times!;)

Well, then I guess you didn't work at the Polynesian.;)
