Ever "bumped" from a resort due to overbooking?

I heard that this can happen. I don't know if it is true or not. Has this happened to anyone and if so how was it handled by wdw? Just wondering?

I read somewhere that it could happen alot at AKL with all the construction going on their and not as many concierge rooms

We were bumped in 2003 from the Poly Concierge during the rehab. I was REALLLLY bummed They did offer us the Boardwalk concierge which we took and enjoyed but it just wasn't the same.

Never been bumped, but if I were, it better be an upgrade. IMHO the Boardwalk isnt an upgrade from the Poly, hope you got a discount.

When did you know you were bumped, upon arrival? I think that I would be very upset!

I love BWI conceirge the staff there is the best. But thats really different than staying at the Poly. You lose alot with the monorail. I hope you got a deluxe room.

We actually found out about 2 weeks before we were scheduled to leave! And no, we didn't get a discount or a Deluxe Room! Plus we ended up with a view of the delivery entrance and got to listen to the trucks arriving and beeping at the crack of dawn! Unfortunately we had booked through a TA so I had to rely on her to argue with Disney! I pushed for the GF or CR since ALL of my ADR's had been made with the Poly and the monorail in mind. But all they would offer, so my TA claimed, was the BWI or the AKL! I was furious, to put it mildly, but at the time I felt that since we were so close to leaving I just didn't want to deal with it. I was told that I could keep my reservation at the Poly but there was always the chance I would be bumped when I arrived. I figured I didn't want to start my vacation arguing with the front desk. In hindsight I realize I should have stood my ground but live and learn!

No - it really isn't common (room upgrades are, but not resort switches).

I know this word is sometimes frowned upon but...that SUCKS!!! I would not have been a happy camper. Hope you had a magical time anyway.

That's what I tried to get! But my TA said they were only offering BWI or AKL which didn't make much sense to me at the time considering the fact that both the GF AND the CR had availability on the concierge level!

We did still have a magical trip but a part of me felt a bit cheated . I kept longing for the Poly concierge.

I would be soooo mad, I can't belive that you were not compinsated in some way.

We were "walked" from lagoonview concierge at the Polynesian to RPC at the GF last Fall. We were really sad about it.

Apparently they had trouble with rehabbing another building...Tokelau as I recall. I think the electricity went out. So people were moved from Tokelau into Hawaii.

We've stayed at the Polynesian 30 times and were hoping for a little loyalty in return but no such luck.

Where at GF is RPC? Is that a good location? When did you find out about this, at check in?
