Ever been stuck in an elevator?

Yep. During my freshman year of college I was giving a tour at my dorm to prospective students and took the group in the elevator. We got in and went up a bit but it didn’t feel right and pretty quickly stopped. I can’t remember how long we were stuck (maybe 20-30 minutes?) but we were pretty crowded in there (knew immediately I probably shouldn’t have used the elevator) and I felt awful. When someone came to help us out they were able to pry the doors open and fortunately we weren't caught between floors. We had only gone up about 2 feet from the main floor so once the door was open, we could hop out.

It was the only time I volunteered to give dorm tours!

Yes......on Tower of Terror!!!! Loved it, tho!! :)
Haha yes, this too! We got stopped in the move from the first shaft to the drop shaft and the lights came on. When the ride resumed, the lights stayed on so that was an interesting way to experience the rest of the attraction!

Yes in 2 different places over the years. Wasn't really any big deal. We were in LasVegas, don't recall which casino, going back up to our room after breakfast. The doors closed and the elevator started moving but it was clear there was some sort of malfunction as the wasn't the usual noise the motors/cables make. Picked up the elevator phone to report a problem to the hotel. I seem to recall it made its way back to the main floor on its own shortly after that. Later that day, that elevator was marked 'out of service' which was probably a good idea..............LOL.

I was in Vegas when the power went out. I was deep in a casino (playing a table game) away from any windows, although we could see windows (which were tinted anyways). No backup lights, although backup power came up in maybe 30 seconds. When the lights came back on all the dealers were hunched over their chip trays, and I don't believe anyone tried to steal any chips at any of the table games. It wasn't in Vegas, but I've seen it in Nevada when the power went out with slots machines that have credits. Modern slots are designed to reboot without losing any of the previous credits. I've heard they'll generally leave off right where they were (like free spins/games) using some sort of backup storage.

Opposite, 16th floor and the night before we were leaving the elevator broke (someone else might have been stuck.) So at 3 am I had to haul the load of 3 vacationing females and my small bag down 16 floors (well, 15 as there is no 13th floor) to pack the car.

At an office building where I worked. Ended up stuck between floors. Luckily it was only about a half hour. Maintenance had to pry the doors and help pull me onto the floor.
Another time probably 20 years ago in a parking garage - that one was scarier because it was before cell phones and I remember hitting the emergency button and the elevator shaking and jerking. The call button went thru but it was like they couldn't hear me or know what was going on. The things that saved my sanity were it was a glass elevator so I knew someone would eventually see me and I wasn't that high up - along with my dad used to work on elevators so I knew there was a safety. Thankfully it didn't last long but I never used that elevator again

I was stuck when the power went out in an office/clinic building. I phoned for help but I wasn't in there long- some lady on the other side of the elevator was able to pry the door open like a T-1000 liquid Terminator. (If she said "Come with me if you want to live", who knows, we'd probably be married.) Headed downstairs using my phone light to see in the dark, and walked out the front door just as the fire department arrived.

My daughter spent from 11:48pm - 12:58am last night trapped between the 6th and 5th floor of her apartment building together with three other friends. They were returning from a late night food run.

The fire department ended up prying open the doors and pulling them up to the 6th floor.

At least none of them had to go to the bathroom before getting stuck. They just sat on the floor and had a picnic while they waited.
I wasn’t so lucky. College freshman. My dorm was a high rise. Came home drunk one night. Had to pee. I’ll leave it at that.

I did once, for a little over an hour. They tried to have maintenance fix the issue but it wasn’t working so the fire department had to come and force the doors open. I also wasn’t quite up to the floor either, so there was only a three foot high opening they had to pull me out through. I was fine until that part, got a bit nervous cause I’ve watched a ton of horror movies and *that thing* always happens

Yes, an elevator in the parking garage on a college campus that I used to work at. It happened to me twice in one month. I was 8+ months pregnant at the time. The first time it stopped and upon calling the fire department (button inside) they had us moving and exiting within 15 minutes. The second time we were stopped between floors for over an hour. I was headed to the doctor for a weekly check-up and as such had a full bladder. It was miserable. They finally were able to pull us up to a spot where we could climb out, but not completely at the floor. Being 8+ months pregnant having to climb/roll out of the elevator was challenging.

I have been stuck in an elevator one time, and that was enough. It was in some hotel, and I was stuck in there for about 45 minutes with my ex inlaws. Sadly, I was about to take the stairs right before they said "just get in the elevator".... that was my mistake.

Yes..... last year at Ikea, me,my Dsis (8 months pregnant) and her 2 yo..... for about 15-20 minutes. The 2yo thought it was fantastic fun to holler into the intercom along with us as we described being stuck to the person who answered.... I was kind of surprised they didn't offer us even a free coffee or something for the trouble.... I wouldn't go back in there that day, I carried nephews stroller up and down the stairs after...

Twice as a child. Once in the department store up the street from us and once in a very crowded parking garage elevator at the Lexington Market in downtown Baltimore in the 60's. Given a choice now, I take the stairs.

Yes, when I was in high school. We had to go to a really old county office building one evening for an early childhood education seminar. When it was over, 2 of my friends and I got stuck between floors. The alarm didn't work so we had to yell for help. It took them about an hour to get us out. They had to get the doors open and we had to be lifted down about 3 feet. It made for a good story lol.

I've only been briefly stuck in our work elevator. The thing is a piece of garbage, breaks down almost weekly, and now I only go in it if I have to. I will use the stairs, sore knee and all.
