Worldwide from a financial standpoint, here's kind of where we rank:

Deluxe Resort people...Value resort people.............................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................95% of earth's population.
100%!!

I don't think everyone would be happy unless Disney reinstated everything that was in place pre-covid. But any good business would take this opportunity to pivot. People were mad when all of the perks for staying onsite were taken away. Now they are coming back in different ways than before. I get that people don't like change, but let's be honest - the Deluxe resorts at the current price point are not worth the current price point. I could stay at the Four Seasons for the same price or less than staying at the Grand Floridian. People post-covid have to be more financially conscious than they may have been prior to the pandemic. Packing in perks for staying at a deluxe makes sense to me. You pony up the cash to stay there, you get something for those dollars other than a hotel room. Everyone still has the choice to stay off site and save loads of cash, you just miss out on an hour extra in the parks. I am sure that the value of that hour is far less than what you will save by staying off site.

Guests at Value and Moderates pay the same price for a day of admission in the parks as Deluxe guests. If they want additional perks, give it to them at their resort, not in the parks were we all pay the same price.

I also take no issue when at the parks and i have to walk to the last bus stop when i stay at a value, if i were paying more for a deluxe, id expect my bus stop to be one of the first also.

Welcome to the new Disney. This is the things Chapek has wanted to do. Covid gave them the excuse to get away with it.

Just curious. I'm all for EMH being returned to how it was pre-covid.

But, with this scenario - people staying offsite pay the same for their tickets. So. . any park perks go to them too? If so, what would Disney's draw be to get people onsite?

Disney has always marketed the resorts and park experience as a package deal though. The face value of the ticket into the parks has not diminished. Those tickets will still get the same number of hours they were promised when purchased. So Disney's decision to do this has not taken away the value of the ticket, they have just added additional value to the deluxe stays.

Good point

No. i think if you're paying to stay at a Disney Resort, and they're offering extra access to other hotels, then all of the disney resorts get them. We're all paying a premium to stay on site.

I agree with you up to a point and that point is where the deluxe resorts are actually paying the parks to remain open those extra hours for their guests. So in a way, the deluxe resort guest is paying for those additional hours with their room fees and they are an extension of their resort amenities.

so i guess what you're saying is my beef should be with my value hotel who didnt give me a break on the price when they took that offer away and arent giving it back?

Okay. People onsite pay a premium to get perks over someone offsite.

But, in the same light, the people at a moderate are paying more of a premium than those at a value. And those at a deluxe are paying more of a premium than a moderate. So, you are right back to looking at premiums paid for those perks.

I think no matter how you look at things, one group of people is always upset.

DVC members always think they should get extra perk, as they did make a huge financial investment as do people who stay on site. I get both groups…

I feel like disney is catering to both groups here…. The morning for all on site guests, which does give you a boost to get to the headliners before the main crowds. The Deluxe group does get a little extra though with the evening and a more limited number of people who can stay for that, which is definitely a larger perk. It may not be the same perks as we are used to, but still a perk! Everyone just has to decide whether that is worth staying on site to them.
Disney is doing a test run here though and will most likely adjust if they need to.

I really wish the good neighbor hotels were excluded from the morning magic hours though…..

Again the high class people get more and the lowly peons get nothing. Obviously it's no sense arguing over it since some of you seem to be ok with the Chapek's Disney.

did disney discount those rates at the values when they took those hours away from us? nope.

Sorry that rubs any one the wrong way. With the way things are going it totally is creating a seperate set of class. All the power to them. For me the more they keep doing this the less reason I have to want to go. It's saddens me as I have a 2 year old that wanted to take to Disney.

Disney has been doing that for the last decade. I have many family members who, if they're lucky, can take their family once, maybe twice, because WDW is a VERY expensive vacation for the majority of people. I know other people who can barely afford a vacation, nevermind a Disney one.

I'm fortunate, I realize that, I'm able to go whenever I want thanks to a very generous employer who shares the wealth when they have good years, I like to say they fund my Disney obsession. Disney has always been a pricey vacation, even staying off property, especially if you don't have the luxury of driving, and have a family.
