Evening Magic Hours for Deluxe Guests Only

Like it or not, it's not the values or the mods that Disney is having trouble filling up- it's the deluxes. And so they need to add perks to them. There's only so much you can do at the physical property to entice people.
they keep this up, they're going to have a hard time filling them. they're going to run people off. Unless we get real perks, or a massive discount, our days of staying onsite are over. i'll never pay what i paid last week for a value ever again, ever.

It's totally a negative. What used to be a perk for every resort guest is now only for high class citizens and the peasants get nothing. Can't wait to see what they do with FP. I'm guessing if you're an All Stars guest just be happy to be on property.
I really dislike when people bandy words and phrases like "high class" and "peasants" to label guests staying at different resort levels. There are plenty of high-income families that choose value resorts because they like them. And conversely, there are a lot of middle-income earners who save in order to make a deluxe resort stay a part of their vacation. This class warfare attitude rubs me the wrong way.

This is a marketing strategy to incentivize reservations at deluxe resorts. It isn't meant to pigeonhole guests into socio-economic classes based on where they are staying.

No. Because those things weren't taken away from me previously. And those are things you purchase a la carte. They aren't mixed in with what else is going on for other guests. Yes, some of them get into the FP line, but the numbers are pretty minimal in the overall scheme of things, so of almost no consequence to the general public.

I understand your point. But with respect to the "old" EMH, I recall if being very sporadic- most days it was one park, some days it was none, in a week, one park might have it three times and one park might not have it at all...at least from what we've seen here, it seems like every morning, all four parks.

i think a lot of people use those terms in how disney treats them.

there are big differences

Why is anyone surprised by this? Disney is desperate to chase up-market dollars and has been on this trajectory for years.

They spent a decade plus chasing budget dollars, tapped out the market, and realized the parks are at capacity and they don't want to make the capital expenditures to increase capacity substantially. So the only way out for them is to try to reposition and attempt a focus on fewer turnstyle clicks but a bigger per guest spend.

But the conundrum is that they chased the budget guest for so long that the demographic they are now after doesn't view them as a desirable vacation destination, and the "deluxe" resorts are nowhere near the level of comfort and service many of those guests expect for the prices being charged. Deluxe resort focused perks are one of their only available options.

I'm guessing they crunched some data and realized the majority of rope-droppers were coming from Value and Moderate resort guests, so early entry is an acceptable perk but one that Deluxe guests may not view as particularly valuable. Tacking on an evening perk for Deluxe resort guests may be looked at as very intriguing for the market they are after.

it rotated, but i know that when we would go for a week, we could hit magic hours in the evening at all 4 parks, and sometimes be able to repeat them...it was well worth it when they offered 3 hours.

Sorry that rubs any one the wrong way. With the way things are going it totally is creating a seperate set of class. All the power to them. For me the more they keep doing this the less reason I have to want to go. It's saddens me as I have a 2 year old that wanted to take to Disney.

Worldwide from a financial standpoint, here's kind of where we rank:

Deluxe Resort people...Value resort people.............................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................95% of earth's population.

You can lower the prices to make them more affordable. I stayed at Yacht Club twice, loved the resort; would love to stay there again, but they passed my price point a couple of years back, I'm not paying $600 plus a night. I can stay at the Waldorf or Four Seasons for that price.

Leaving one park a night open for 1-2 extra hours is far cheaper than reducing the price per night at a deluxe resort.

That doesn’t make it any better. If anyone thinks that Disney treats any of its guests as peasants they don’t understand the plight of people who really are struggling or being held back. At best, it is a questionable use of hyperbole.

I don't think everyone would be happy unless Disney reinstated everything that was in place pre-covid. But any good business would take this opportunity to pivot. People were mad when all of the perks for staying onsite were taken away. Now they are coming back in different ways than before. I get that people don't like change, but let's be honest - the Deluxe resorts at the current price point are not worth the current price point. I could stay at the Four Seasons for the same price or less than staying at the Grand Floridian. People post-covid have to be more financially conscious than they may have been prior to the pandemic. Packing in perks for staying at a deluxe makes sense to me. You pony up the cash to stay there, you get something for those dollars other than a hotel room. Everyone still has the choice to stay off site and save loads of cash, you just miss out on an hour extra in the parks. I am sure that the value of that hour is far less than what you will save by staying off site.
