Another aspect to consider.

When I wanted to make a ADR at an Epcot restaurant for 9:30 pm, after Illuminations, I was asked which Disney resort I was staying at, because you must be a registered guest to make an ADR that falls during EMH.

I don't know how they would handle a walk-up.

I believe one of the rules here involves not asking how to get away with bypassing Disney's policies and also not advising others on how to bypass Disney's policies.

If you don't want to be dishonest, then don't be. That part is pretty simple. You expect your kids to follow rules, right? Then so should you.
I guess when they get older, it will be okay for your kids to give their cousins there school ID and have them take their tests for them?

See, by definiton-it's not meant for everyone who is there at closing, it's not just for the rides. If your sister and kids want to stay late with you, then they should pay for a room, just like the rest of us have to do.

No matter how Disney Marketing describes it on the website, by WDW policy off site guests are allowed to stay and shop.

If you don't like that policy you can complain to Disney.

As for borrowing some one else's keys yes that would be dishonest.

I've noticed you and I see eye-to-eye on a lot of things.

You can stay. You can eat, drink and shop and give Disney as much money as you want.

If you want to get on a ride, though, you have to have a room key.

My recent experience during EMH didn't involve them scanning my card or checking a photo id.. Your mileage may vary. However.... Why would you abuse something like this, and either cause them to discontinue or make it more difficult for valid resort guests? I wish it was valid for annual pass holders. It's not.. unless you stay at a Disney resort. (I suppose there is one exception... One of the Hilton hotels?)

Anyone can stay. Nobody has to pay for it.

Hard ticket events are set up the way you are explaining, with checkpoints where you have to stop and show your wristband to the wristband police.

EMHs have everyone in the park. Disney makes a lot of money off of the eating, drinking and shopping. I'm convinced that is the reason they switched to having night EMH. You only need to show your room key to get on the rides.

If you have an extra key and want to let another person use it I see no problem with that. You paid for the room so you obviously want to utilize what you paid for, and whether it's your kid or someone else's kid using the key there's a body at the park. No idea though if they check to see if the key a person uses is assigned to that person. Re the staying after the park closes question, we've never had anyone ask us to show a key to stay in the park, only to get in after closing and to ride.

My philosophy is that if it's something you can ask for and be granted permission to do by the company, then it's ok.

Before the change with fastpasses, if you asked the CM at the FP line if you could use your late FP, they would have said yes. So that's a go.

If you ask a shop CM if you can stay in the park and shop when the EMH starts even though you're an offsite guest and they say yes, then that's a go.

If you ask the ride CM if the other kids can use YOUR kids room keys and they say yes, then go for it. But I think you know that's not going to happen.

Even though there is no extra cost for the PM Extra Magic Hours compared to events like Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party, couldn't you say there is. The guests staying onsite are paying more compared to those staying offsite and one thing they get is access to Extra Magic Hours. So in a way they are paying for them because I guarantee you the offsite guests are not paying for them.

I really have no issue with off-site folks staying to shop during EMH. I DO have HUGE issue with people trying to stick around for a hard ticketed party. They are really very different animals. EMH is about the rides. There are no shows, parades or fireworks. At a party, some people pay the $60 a head (or more) JUST for the shows, parades and fireworks. People sticking around Main Street bottle up the park even further and take up valuable real estated needed by the folks who bought tickets. At EMH, the only reall attraction are the rides, and room keys are checked for those. There's not much appeal beyond that.

The fact that some hotel guests would like others banished from the park doesn't mean anything except that they might be a little petty. It isn't Disney's policy. They get to make their own rules.

Of course. I always forget about that hotel. I suppose it is because I've never been there.
