Evening Extra Magic Hour! (VERY LONG POST)

Found out something interesting. He told me that originally the new EMH test was going to be only for MK. Can you imagine what the crowds would have been like if it was only a couple of nights at one park???

I was just told that both future world and world showcase will close at Midnight on May 9

jaysue and McCall,
Lets go with your times since they seem to be more current. Plus that gives us that much more time to spend in FW.

Okay, now I'm going over what is open in the A.M. vs. the P.M. - so according to the Disney site, only those prefaced with an asterik (*) are open in the evenings only and not in the morning?
i.e.,
MK ---- Splash Moiuntain is only open in the evening and Space Mountain is only open in the A.M. right?

I read this to mean that ALL of the attractions on the list are open in the evenings, and only those without an asterik are open in the mornings. I could be wrong though. Anyone else?

What exactly does "select" disney resorts mean? Which resorts are not select for the extra magic hours?

SOG only opted for the Morning EMH
DTD hotels except Hilton do not participate for EMH

I think it's a great idea. We are going on May 9 with a 10 year old and 16 year old. They are both unimpressed by early morning activity. My 10 year old is especially excited about Animal Kingdom being open late. It will take the pressure off trying to get in as many hours as possible at the parks.

Hi Jaysue & Lori, Now bear with me because that is what I thought at first glance too, but, if you read the asterik words closer:......
"
Open Attractions for Extra Magic Hours Benefit
* Noted attractions are only open for the evening benefit

Okay, so it sounds like all rides shown are open for evening only by the *asterik symbol but this is the WDW website list that lists both morning and evening rides open.

Then take a closer look and see that there are only some rides are marked with an asterik, not all are marked with one. I've shown MK's rides an example..........

• Magic Kingdom® Park -* Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin©Disney/Pixar, The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, * Mickey's PhilharMagic, Space Mountain®, * Splash Mountain®, Peter Pan's Flight, * The Haunted Mansion, Cinderella's Golden Carrousel, * The Magic Carpets of Aladdin, * Pirates of the Caribbean, Astro Orbiter, Dumbo the Flying Elephant, * Country Bear Jamboree, Tomorrowland Transit Authority, Tomorrowland® Indy Speedway, * Jungle Cruise, * Swiss Family Treehouse, Mad Tea Party "

So it's my understanding that Big Thunder Mt. RR is open for the evening while the next ride (Buzz's) is not marked with an asterik and therefore not in available in the evening but am only.

I know this sounds so nitpicky but it's confusing to pick through the list to figure out which rides are for the am or pm and to help us decide which ones we'll be participating in next week(!).
Someone posted near the beginning of this thread and made it easier to read but I noticed some of the rides weren't corresponding to what the WDW website has officially unveiled (even though this can really change all at the last minute!).
I just wish the website could follow the posters example!

Thanks for helping me to figure this out!
Tammy

If you look at the the original CM message (first post in this thread) you can see the all of the rides are open in the evening, and the ones with the * are not open in the morning.

-DH

AM - Listed rides not marked with an "*"
PM - ALL listed rides

Therefore Buzz will be available for am AND pm. Note that the sentance only restricts certain rides to PM only. It does NOT restrict any rides to AM only. Therefore all listed rides are available in the evening EMH.

the all of the rides are open in the evening, and the ones with the * are not open in the morning.
yep......that's right....
:Pinkbounc
Too much of this thread has been spent on figuring that one out.....
Guess it takes us Ohio folk to make it simple.:teeth:

Personally, I think it's nice that they are adding this, but it is NOT the same advantage as morning EMH.

The reason I liked morning EMH is that it was EARLY. Fewer people get up early, so when we did go for Early Entry, the food court was empty cause very few folks were up, the buses were empty, and the park was relatively empty for the the first hour or so!!

The evening EMH will be crowded because more folks will stay in the park.

I agree it will be more crowded - maybe since people will want to eat, buy stuff in the stores etc. that they would not do in the morning, Disney sees this as a potential money maker

thanks

anytime I get more for my money from disney, I'm happy. I'm also thinking this might help soften the blow of rising ticket prices.

I don't mind the crowds near as much as I do the heat. It's a lot easier for me to stand in line when it's cooler, so I plan to take full advantage of the extra magic hours.
