Evening Extra Magic Hour! (VERY LONG POST)

I got as post card in the mail from WDW today informing me of this feature during our stay.

The front was blue (with pixie dust) and it says.....

Just because the Parks are closed doesn't mean you have to leave.

Presenting a change in the extra magic hour benifit.

then the back says this......

A special benifit during your stay.

No, we're not talking about stowing away in a trash can until everyon's gone. We're talking about the Extra Magic Hour benefit--a privilege exclusive to Guests staying at select Walt Disney World Resort hotels May 9 through May 22, 2004. On select nights, on of the four Theme Parks will be open at least an extra hour for Guests to enjoy some favorite attractions. No catch, only etra magic. Just use your Key to the World card to pick up a wristband and you're in! And don't forget about the Extra Magic Hour Benefit in the a.m. On designated mornings, of of the four Theme parks will be open one hour early so resort Guests can pop in to enjoy select attractions.

Visit www.disneyworld.com/extramagic or see the World Update when you check in for all the details. Valid Theme Park ticket and Resort I.D. required.

Wristbands may be picked up at he select locations in each Park no sooner than two hours before Park closing, or at the turnstile after the Park has closed, before the Extra Magic Hour benefits begins. Wristbands not needed for extra magic hour benefit in the morning.

kinda sounds like a pain with the wristbands but I'm sure It will be worth it since I'm guessing all the guests with the lil, lil ones will opt out on the extra late hour.

If I am reading this correctly, the attractions with an asterisk are only open for the PM EMH and the ones without the asterisk are open for both the AM and PM EMH. So, things like Pooh, Peter Pan, carousel, Dumbo, TT, MS, ToT, RnRC, KS should be open during both AM and PM EMH. I hope I am reading this correctly!

OK... that sounds much better. I must be having a brain freeze moment - I must be thinking too much:teeth: Thanks for the explain!

I noticed we will both be at the WL at the same time :) well assuming you will be there longer than 2 days lol

Okay I'll admit that I am blonde ... here is my question ...

DH, DD and I arrive at MCO at 7:30 p.m. on May 12 and we are staying on property ... So if we get to MK by 9 can we still get wristbands and stay until midnight?

Wristbands may be picked up at he select locations in each Park no sooner than two hours before Park closing, or at the turnstile after the Park has closed, before the Extra Magic Hour benefits begins. Wristbands not needed for extra magic hour benefit in the morning.

according to the post card I got today, yes.

We will only be there on 5/9 the day it starts. We fly out on 5/10. I have read that is 3 hours after World Showcase closes or Midnight. Has anyone been able to confirm that? Also, I'm still very curious, what if anything will be opened in World Showcase other than Mexico and Norway? We had planned Saturday evening to travel through all the various countries and it would make more sense to change our itinerary to Sunday "IF" most of the World Showcase attractions were still up and running. Can anyone shed any light on to this?

Super!! We are surprising DD with a long weekend at WDW for our birthdays so this is perfect:smooth:

I am kinda surprised at the various comments and/or complaints about the wristbands and how they will be picked up.

Is this from guests that have never participated in E-Ride night. Getting a wristband is very simple and it is simple for the CM stationed at each ride to check to see if you have yours.

Everyone just holds theirs up as they pass by.

I'm just a little confused....will the current Early Morning Park hours for resort guests remain the same as today and they'll just add some evening hours, or does everything change? We'll be going from 5/21-25, so our stay is split between the test and the current process and I'm getting confused trying to thing about meals and parks for each day! Thanks, Jo:hyper:

I was thinking the same thing myself. It seems like it would be pretty easy to just flash your wristband as you enter the queue for a ride. ::yes::

WOW...you're right...we will be there at the same time. Fortunately, we are staying more than 2 nights...actually 6. Maybe we will see you there. The pic included in your posts is so darn cute!!! We have 2 DS's too!!! Keep an eye out for us.
Hope you have a wonderful vacation!!

Gosh...I can't wait.

Hi Jo-Anne! It seems that from what is said on the official site, the Early Morning park hours will not stay the same. The changes are not that many for the morning...it seems that what would affect you is that MK is no longer listed as Early Entry on Thursday morning and is instead listed on Friday morning (That would be the 20th and 21st for you). There is no longer anything listed as Early Entry in the morning on Thursday.

If someone has a different interpretation of what's on the official site, I'm sure they'll drop in and share their thoughts. Hope this helps!

I just spoke to a CM at CRO about the Epcot EMH closing times. He was pretty sure that FW would be closing at 10 not midnight. Most of the rides included with the EP nighttime EMH were are in FW so the extra 3 hours would be tacked onto the 7pm closing time.

Found out something interesting. He told me that originally the new EMH test was going to be only for MK. Can you imagine what the crowds would have been like if it was only a couple of nights at one park???

re my complaining about the wristbands...... was mainly thinking i should be able to get it when I enter the park instead of having to make my way back to a wristband distribution spot etc etc I was not at all worried about having to wear it or showing it to ride an individual ride. Still like my post also said I think it will be worth it.

we will be there the 11th -18th with some friends and their DD(first timers) ;). I'll have that cutie in the pic with me, if you have a picture and want to share I'd be happy to be on the look out for you guys

I am reading it as well that the attractions list for evening extra hours is the complete list and the "*" are the ones open in the evening only - in other words these are not open during the morning extra hours

thanks

is that attraction list looking pretty thin?
Actually I think it looks pretty good!::yes::

The list for the evenings looks great.....

Best deal seems to be at AK. We always hated EMH at AK because they only had the safari and "Bug"....so if you weren't in the very front of the rush in....forget it...just wasn't worth getting up the extra hour earlier.

At MK.....no chage in the morning...and the evenings... same as E-ticket was. But they did add Jungle Cruise!! ::yes::

Epcot....wondering if they will then block off the bridges to the back side of WS and just have Mexico and Norway open in the evening?

MGM.....looks good for evenings, but they needed to add a couple of the shows beside LMM, like Beauty & Beast or Indy show.

Here's hoping they continue it through the summer!!!

We've been hoping for late nights at ALL the parks for a long time!!!:hyper:

Would that mean that Test Track, Mission Space, HISTA and Spaceship Earth already open until 9pm would be open 1 extra hour then until 10pm and Future World would close at 10pm then leaving World Showcase (either Norway and Mexico only or ALL of WS open?) open until midnight with only the 2 boat rides open?

The rest of the parks are cut and dry since they have a set closing time - it is the Epcot scenario that is hard to figure out

thanks
