I'm here... well kind of... you know I still have other reports to catch up on. Things are slowing down so I should be back this weekend.
I totally understand! :welcome and thank you so much for being here!

Hey guys! Wow! Big changes here huh? Did anyone else lose their minds over this huge change? I did. I wasn't ready for it. Didn't know things were a-changin'. I need to be given time to adjust to the idea of change before I will readily accept it. Take my hand, explain to me that everything is going to be ok and change is good, stop me from rocking...

Definitely MORE changes than I was expecting. I love your intros. Now here are my answers below for my "favourites"
Enough about me, what about you?

What is your favourite...
... ride? Tower of Terror (sorry Wendy)

... character? Tigger
... movie? Beauty & The Beast
... Disney restaurant?

And my restaurant choice would probably be Crystal Palace because I get to see Tigger; but for a really good meal I'll go with Yachtsman

Still haven't done 'Ohana. Some day I really need to give it a try!

Great choices for the favourites! Another Disneyland favourite, I really need to go there!

Hehehe your I expected your favourites to all be my opposites! ToT Definitely qualifies, but I love everything else. Except the Yachtsman, and that's only because I've never been. Hoping to rectify that this year!

Still haven't done 'Ohana. Some day I really need to give it a try!

I go for the juice and Stitch. Plus, its perfect for pre-MK days cuz the boat over early in the morning is just perfect:cloud9:
Last time I went, I had a 715a ADR and got a spot next to the window and it was beautiful! I highly recommend it!

First off, I laughed at the use of "out-laws" as I pictured traveling to Disney with an actual "outlaw" who is hiding from security and has to keep hiding from Johnny Law :rotfl:

My favorite:
...... ride? Jungle Cruise
... character? Probably Donald. Though I did tear-up most recently related to Baymax. Also enjoy a good princess hunt with my daughter
... movie? Robin Hood
... Disney restaurant? California Grill (at least in the non-Victoria & Albert division)

Joining in! Love the title :-)

As for me:

What is your favourite...
... ride? Peter Pan
... character? Marie (surprise surprise!)
... movie? Up
... Disney restaurant? So far... Le Cellier (but that is bound to change with some upcoming ADRs I have!)

Ok, now off to catch up on some of your other TRs!

This is a great idea, Wendy! :thumbsup2

What is your favourite...
... ride? Soarin' and Big Thunder Mountain
... character? Mickey and Belle
... movie? Beauty and the Beast
... Disney restaurant? Sci-Fi

Loved your intros! And happy to see no in-laws or out-laws this trip! ;)

Also... I'm with you! Though I think I'll adjust quickly to these changes... hello!? A little warning please! :rotfl:

Definitely can't beat the location! I might give it a go this trip!

Hahaha that could make a good movie...
Great favourites! Baymax is climbing very high on my favourite characters list lately too.

Not as happy as me. :rotfl:

I'm already adjusting, so it's ok... but yes I definitely require some advance notice of change! :rotfl2:

Oooh.....can't wait to hear.
Coming right up!

Hi folks!

giphy.gif

How's the weather where you are? We've been getting mostly rain with all the storms passing through. We're lucky, our neighbour province, New Brunswick is getting buried with snow. (Although I could do without all the ice we have!)

giphy.gif

Another storm currently passing through and making the roads quite bad means I'm off work for the morning. That means time to tell you all about my Travel Agent visit last night!

kermit-yaaaaay-o.gif

#kermitflail

For those of you who don't know, my Mother in Law (a.k.a. the Master Manipulator from the previous trip!) is a travel agent. She became one just weeks after Johnny and I swore to never use a TA ever again to book a Disney trip.

giphy.gif

Anyway.

She works one late evening per week and it was yesterday. After work Johnny and I walked down (she works just a few buildings down from me.) We were there from 5:00 until almost 8:00!

This year is going to be our 5 year wedding anniversary. We promised to do something special for our 5th, and were hoping to stay at the Yacht Club! Unfortunately, the Yacht Club is booked. We decided on Boardwalk instead.

1000_BoardWalk_Exterior_Magic_Hour_1-1000x563.jpg

(It's a big sacrifice.)

We want to stay a little longer, maybe 10 days. Originally when pricing the Boardwalk we were looking at a week, so we weren't sure about 10 days. We priced a split stay -- 5 nights at Pop Century and 5 at the Boardwalk.

113_ADE_DisneyPopCenturyResort-1.jpg

We love Pop Century and haven't been there since 2012.

We are hoping for Free Dining to be announced of course, and to get the promo we need a 5 night package, so we had to do it with two 5 day tickets.

We called Disney and booked it that way for now --

November 11 - 16 at Pop Century (Preferred room, standard view) with a 5 day park hopper and the regular dining plan
November 16 - 21 at Boardwalk Inn (standard room, standard view) with a 5 day park hopper and the regular dining plan

We thought that would work well for us. The first 5 days can be very Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom heavy with the good Pop bus service, the next 5 lots of Epcot, some DHS, and lots of relaxing around the resort. I really like that plan. We got Disney to hold those two reservations for us.

We were happy with that.

tumblr_lwvoq6atq51qii6tmo1_500.gif

Next to look at flights.

tumblr_n2xyeg96Cc1rhqmyao1_500.gif

We have always flown with Air Miles. (a points plan) We have always had wonderful luck accumulating points and getting the exact flights we wanted.

Within the last year they've changed a lot. It's now harder to get points and nearly impossible to get two seats on the same flight, unless you pay 3 - 4x the points.

That's exactly what happened to us.

Went to book the flights -- not enough points for two. Bought the rest of the points. Went to book again -- price suddenly jumped to 4x the miles. MIL called them, nothing they could do so they refunded my money for the points we bought. We booked the one flight through them, and went to book the other through Air Canada. AC says they have one seat left for a discounted price ($400) they went to book it -- oops! It's the one Air Miles just took! No seats left for that price, so we have to pay more. ($800.) But we're kind of trapped into doing it that way, because the Air Miles seat is already booked and I really don't want to risk flying alone!

This is why we desperately need more airline competition where I live. So, so, so corrupt.

tumblr_m5zvi0VpJV1rxnrovo1_500.gif

Anyway, the end result is two flights for a lot cheaper than we thought we were going to have to pay (though not quite as cheap as we thought at one point last night!) And it's the perfect flight too --

Sydney - Toronto
Toronto - Orlando

We land in Orlando at noon!

YAY! Nothing like last year's ridiculous travel day.

After that mess as finally settled, we just started chatting about Disney again.

Because of the two separate reservations we would need to make, I would also need to come up with two deposits by next week. Well, that's ok. We can do that. Then MIL says the line I knew she was going to say, because she is my husband's mother and I know he had to get it from somewhere...

"I wonder what the price would be if... you stayed at Boardwalk the whole time."

Yes well, most likely more than I make in a year.

giphy.gif

But she was curious, so she priced it out.

To switch to all Boardwalk -- a 9 day ticket instead of two 5s (much cheaper), the dining plan wouldn't change, only the room rate going up...

was about $800 more.

So now we're thinking.

large-1.gif

In the grand scheme of a big trip, that's not a big increase to get to stay at the Boardwalk for 5 extra nights!!

We always do this. Our Disney trips get bigger and bigger.

giphy-138.gif

We're still thinking about this one. I'll let you know.

You should just do it. ;)

Jill in CO (Proud Disney Enabler!)

DO IT! You will not regret it. The only thing I don't like about the Boardwalk area is the buses, but you only have to take it to two parks. I am telling you that you will LOVE it there. Just stay away from the clown pool. :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:
