So, I booked a free dining trip for the end of October. So, I'm going to get to ride the Seven Dwarves Mine Train! Do I watch one of the many ride through videos all over the internet or do I wait and experience it without having seen it in October? I can't decide! I can think of pros and cons to both approaches. Talk me into or out of one of them!

I am going in July and I have watched the many videos. I think it's okay to watch because the videos never do the ride justice you just have the sight and the sounds (in some videos not even that). So now I am very excited to see how the ride feels because of the way it looks.

I will not watch it in advance. I want it to be fresh.

I agree, I too saw all the many videos that are out there, but I am the type of person that doesn't like to be surprised and have to know what is going on, plus I am too excited that I couldn't wait anymore. We are going to be able to ride it on our upcoming trip (2 days after it officially opens) and even though I saw the videos, I agree that those videos are not going to do the ride any justice when we are actually on it. Now my DH is different, he doesn't want to see any videos of anything new because he wants to be surprised. OP, everyone is going to be different only you know if you should watch them or not, I look at it as you will either be surprised now by watching the videos, or be surprised later by actually being on the ride. Have fun I can't wait to ride :goodvibes.

I am not watching any of the videos. I want everything to be brand new to me. I think it takes away a little of the magic when you know every single detail.

I'm still debating. I watched EE videos before I ever rode and I was glad that I did. I knew when to look for the yeti and when to expect the backwards part which was good for me. I'm thinking I might watch the video because no matter what, I'm going to miss a lot of the details when I ride. This way, I'll know what I'm supposed to be looking at!

You can watch a video of a Lamborghini, but it doesn't compare to riding in it.

I chose to not watch videos of Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey before riding it the first time, and looking back, I should have. When I rode it for the first time, I was screaming with my eyes closed the entire time because I had NO CLUE what I was getting myself into :rotfl2:

That said, Mine Train isn't a scary ride (I think! haha), so I'll probably avoid watching videos so it's a new experience when I go in September.

I agree with the general concensus so far. I can't bring myself to watch any of the videos or even look at the pictures. I've seen the ride and area with the walls down but don't want to ruin any of the excitement for my FP+ on May 28th. Still hoping for a soft opening and will be at the parks during Star Wars weekends prior to the official opening so we'll just have to make a stop at MK one of those days.

I love thrill rides and went to Cedar Point last July for the first time. I watched videos of most of the rides, including the brand new one, Gatekeeper, and the one I was most excited for, Millennium Force. I know there is almost no theming for those rides, but videos did no justice. I knew the basics of what we were in for, but nothing can prepare you for actually being on the ride. I'm all for watching videos. I think for me it was better because the anticipation was building for what was coming next.

I watched a few videos and felt like they really gave away the WHOLE ride! I have no problem watching videos for rides I am a little nervous/unsure about, but I really just wanted to see some glimpses of this one, but the video I watched was pretty much the whole thing, and I rather regret it now because I want some aspects of surprise.

That said, the videos can never really capture the full experience-- but I'd wait and be happily surprised!

I probably would not have watched except I want to make sure it's ok for my five year old. FYI - I think she'll love it! :)

I am the type of person who loves surprises. I will not be looking at the videos beforehand. I leave in 4 weeks and have my fp+ for this ride. Yay!

I'm going in June and I haven't watched any videos because I want to be surprised. If it were a scary ride, I would definitely watch the video ahead of time so I was prepared.

I looooooove watching videos... I watched all the Mine train ones, we just booked too so IM SO EXCITED!!! the videos make me more excited and I dont do coasters well, so I like to be prepared... the mine train que is amazzzzzing, did I spell que right??

There is no 'pro' to watching the video first. The element of surprise always makes the first time special. You'll never be able to recapture that.

I think that kind of thing should be done on subsequent rides. The first ride should be totally fresh and new. There will be time enough to pick apart the ride later.

My DH watched the video several times and I refuse. I only know what it looks like from walking around it, but haven't seen any pictures or video of the ride itself. Waiting til June 1st!

DH also tried to get me to watch the video of the new MK parade, but I didn't. Finally saw it in person last Sunday and it was so worth the wait!
