Last night around 6:30 my sister and I were evacuated off of Monsters Inc. It was so awesome. We had just entered the restaurant scene amd we stopped. The music stops but not the characters. The announcer said they were coming around to get us off. Totally awesome!! Then the lights came on and everything else turned off. It was so quiet. We were walked out of the ride along the track back to the queue line. Along the way I touched the tubing used to make it look like the Saki was pouring on the floor. A no no I know but it was totally cool to see the scenes up close. :cool1: It was very interesting and a great end to our evening. :cool1:

I would love to see some of the rides that way. But then again I wonder if it woulld kill the magic.

Oh wow that sounds pretty cool.
Especially on Monsters, i think that's my favorite dark ride.

We had to walk off on Indiana Jones...the FIRST time I ever rode it so it definitely killed some of the magic...especially at the very end with the boulder.

can some one tel me about the ride because at Disney World all it is is a comedy show with a monster theme here is sounds like an actual ride so I am just curious about the CA version

On my 2006 trip I got evaced off of Winnie the Pooh. As I was walking out I felt oddly compelled to inform the people still in line that I only counted 78 acres in there.

Interesting, I haven't even heard of evacuations while the rides are going.

Why does it happen? :confused3

Walking out of Snow White last fall...

When we asked why the ride stopped, the CM that led us out said something like, "Oh, Dopey and Sneezy need a little nap." We thought it was funny that she didn't include Sleepy in that excuse. ;) The magic was not killed on this ride. It was pretty fun. The CM was very patient with us as we walked slooooooowly out. :)

If you don't want to spoil it and look at the video: Monsters is a dark ride and one of my favorites. I think it people overlook it for some reason. You ride in a taxi through Monsteropolis. The cool thing about it is you can see new details every time you ride. There are so many little things to look at.

Rides sometimes break down while people are on them. If they can't get it going in a few minutes, they turn on the lights and come get you to walk you out. We've had this happen to us on Space Mountain and Indiana Jones on the same trip. On IJ we were at place where you look into the eyes of the idol so didn't get to see too much.

We broke down on RR and were walked off. It was the worst but only because of the room we were stuck in, it was where the machine is opening and closing it's mouth and the room makes a screaming type noise......it was so annoying because of the noise. But it didn't ruin the ride for us at all. That one we got a pass good to ride 1 ride with no wait.
We also broke down on Indy, right after the Idol you go around the corner and see the Indy holding the door and he says "to the left", we went a little to the left and then the ride shut down. They didn't evac us, they walked by and asked if we were OK, we all said yes and they said they'd get it working ASAP. We sat there for probably 20-30 min, it was quite a wait, but they got it running again. When we got to the end they asked if we wanted to ride again and of course, the whole car yelled YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so we rode again immediately. :)

I'd like to break down on PotC and just be forgotten.....lol But that won't ever happen so..... :)

On one trip we go walked out of both RR and Mr. Toad. It was pretty cool to see everything in the light. On RR you can see where paint was touched up in the room we were in. on Mr toad we got stuck right next to the bar tender so I could take time to really see the hidden Mickey. My DS5 who was with me thought it was awesome.

Last week my spouse and I were watching the Hojo's webcam and saw 2 people walking around on the top of California Screamin' ride... Moments before, the coaster had been going, and moments after, it had also been going. Very strange to see... I don't believe that was a ride evacuation, I think it was DL cast member working on something on it. But I have to say, as much as I love California' Screamin' I would NOT want to get stuck on it.

IJ broke down while I was on it back in September. I've secretly been hoping I would get to walk out of this ride at some point. We were there for quite a while and they made announcements to be prepared to walk out if necessary but eventually they got it started again. I still [not-so] secretly want to walk out of this ride. Or any of them, really. I don't think it would take away the magic for me, but rather add to it. It was awesome seeing how much detail there really was while we were still in the transport. I was lucky enough t at least get stopped over the bridge and not in one of the tunnels or something.

Someday, someday!

I felt like this happened to us last time. Acutally I didn't enjoy it. The ride stopped for about 10 minutes and we were right in front of the fort and the pirate ship. Of all the places to get stuck, it had to be there with nothing much to look at. We were glad that at least the cannons stopped splashing or we would have been soaked. I was wondering how they would take us off POTC, but then it started again.

My daughter, her friend, my husband and I were evacuated off of Ellen's Energy Adventure last February. It was absolutely no fun, because on a ride with that many people, it takes a LOOONG time to evacuate it, and I had made the mistake of ditching my ECV and trying to hobble onto the ride with my cane. It was a LOONG walk back to the ECV, and my back let me know that it didn't appreciate that.

It didn't spoil the ride for us though.

This happened to us on Monsters Inc at DCA as well...but not on our first time AND it was near the beginning of the ride. On our way out I started taking pictures of things around me...just of the ride characters and backdrop but they caught me right away and said NO PHOTOGRAPHY PLEASE...hehehehe!! Oh well...it was pretty cool...kindof wished we were further in the ride!!

After a 2 and a half hour wait to get on Space Mountain Tink and I got evacuated off it... Really awesome to see the inside of that place

That would be interesting to walk off of!
but not after waiting over 2 hrs!:sad2:

A couple of DL trips ago, my DBF and I were in a narrow hallway about to enter the very first room of the Pooh ride and it shut down. Since we were at the beginning of the ride, we were going to be left off last...big mistake. DBF and I were in the front row and the other rows were full. Probably 30 seconds after the ride stopped, one of the two guys in the second row began saying how claustrophobic he can get :scared1:. And then another 30 seconds passed by and he began throwing up over the side of the car:sick:...and of course we were stuck in the car until a CM came to unlock it. And he kept throwing up until we were leaving the hallway. I truly felt terrible for the guy, but I am the type of person where the sight, sound and smell of puke will nearly set me off and I will start throwing up myself. Thankfully I held it together!! :worship:

But that was a pretty horrendous experience...and I haven't been back on that ride since :rotfl:
