Rockers visiting Liverpool to the Cavern Club Site is like Baseball fans going to Wrigley, Jews to the wailing wall, Christians to Jerusalem, drunks to the Atomic Lounge in ' Vegas,,
We loved Cobh. One of our favorite places we've ever been. We really enjoyed walking around the town and looking in the shops. We did the Titanic museum and really enjoyed it. St. Colman's cathedral was nice too. I don't understand why so many people go to other places when docked in Cobh instead of exploring there. (There was no chance I wanted to kiss the Blarney stone--have you seen how disgusting that looks?)
Oh, I don't know...I feel like all the germs I picked up there was very helpful later in life . The grounds of Blarney Castle are beautiful in the summer and there's a cool poison garden which was fascinating .
Cobh/Cork-We did a big bus tour to Blarney and Kinsale. It was excellent. We skipped kissing the stone, but could still pop into a part of the ruins and have great views/photos. We had plenty of time to walk around grounds and gardens. Kinsale is a cute town. It was a very reasonable price. This is a well-regarded, established tour company. https://www.ecoach.ie/cobh-blarney-shore-excursion.php
I've never actually been pressed for time at a port. This is anxiety I give to myself free of charge. I would like to thank everyone for helping me with this task. All of our cruise excursions are booked. We're very excited. I am sad tipperary did not end up being an option though. I thought rock of cashel was going to be the thing for that port. I am sure everyone will be happy. We ARE going to blarney castle, however, I have zero interest in kissing the rock. I have burst that tourism bubble by working at resorts for the past 6 years. I don't typically stand in lines unless I am in CA waiting for Mission Breakout.
I’ll throw this out there. Cobb. Blarney Stone. I watched several different YouTubers visit the castle last year. The experience was mainly standing in a queue (for 45-60 minutes), which wound up and down narrow steps, for a chance to lie in your back and kiss a rock. Bus ride there and back. Not enough time for the castle and gardens.
Agree skip the stone queue. However, The gardens are beautiful and worth a walk around
Cobh museums along the port are excellent, Titanic a must see. Shops are great too,
Wish i had seen this before today as the dream is in the town 2 miles down the road. Edinburgh aint it, yes there is a castle but its a tourist trap. Go to Glasgow and visit the west end or Stirling Castle. The area around the port isnt great. If it ever comes back and any disboards folk want a game of golf with a local then hit me up.

The top of the royal mile in Edinburgh is a tourist trap. The rest is lovely. I wouldn't do the trip from Greenock to Edinburgh for a day trip though as I doubt you'd have time to do much of the interesting stuff.
I know this isn't any help, but we did the DCL Northern European Cruise twice because you just don't have enough time when on a cruise to really see much of anything before moving on to the next port. We've been to Europe 10 times now and seven of those were land trips. As far as taking an excursion to Edinburgh, it's our favorite city of all that we've visited. But we spent seven days there before doing a 3-day tour to the Isle of Skye. There is so much to see and experience in the city, and in Scotland for that matter, that we can't wait to return for another extended land trip.
