Italy - Naples: Pompei - Sorrento - Capri

Spain - Palma: Drach Caves - Porto Cristo

I'll have to wait for the booking to open up to see what other things will be available for SPA / Palo / etc.

:goodvibes Also as a reminder 1 month left for the Wristbands / Polo Shirts / Cocktail Taisting / Fish Extender Exchange

Happy Cruise Planning :goodvibes

its nearly here!!!:yay::yay::yay:

I am still not sure about what I am booking though!!!:lmao:

I think, and its still just think!! - that I am only booking a trip from Naples through DCL. Which one is another question!!!:goodvibes

We are going to attempt Monte Carlo on our own by train as it sounds quite straightforward, Steve is going to take Kai with our friends to Pisa independently by train (Kai is only 7 and wouldn't be able to do the DCL excursion to climb Pisa as he has to be 8:rolleyes:) - he is really tall for his age (in fact as tall, if not taller than our friends daughter who is 11), so I am going to 'risk' it and buy him a ticket to climb Pisa as it is the thing he is most looking forward to !:thumbsup2

We have a tour arranged already with the lovely Dibb people in Rome, so thats sorted now and we aren't getting off the boat in Mallorca so I guess its just finalising what we are going to do in Naples - its a case of wanting to do everything and having to choose!!!:goodvibes

This is great Amy; you are pretty much clear on what you are doing. If any doubts just follow the fun. I'm sure you DS won't have any problem going up the tower. :thumbsup2 For what I can remember when I went up way back when I was 11 yo it's because it's pretty claustrofobic climbing the stairs and a long and steep staircase, small children won't do it all the way so parents have to carry them making harder for them, not to mention once you reach the top it's not 100% safe.

I think he will be ok as he has quite long legs and has lots of energy!!!:goodvibes I am now considering going to Pisa with my youngest son, Lucas, just to see it (he definitely can't climb as he's only 4) - I wasn't really bothered before, but I have just seen in a newspaper that the scaffolding around the tower has been taken down after many years and it looks so much nicer - might have to pay a visit after all!!:thumbsup2

I'm sure Lucas will enjoy very much taking his picture by the tower appearing to sustain it. That's a memory that lasts for ever.

It is really good to know that they took off the scaffolding, defenetly much nicer. :rotfl:

Might add this to my list too as it was the scaffolding that put me off :wizard:

I think that if you want to climb the tower you need to buy tickets in advance as it's very unlikely there will be any available on the day.

Yes Gary, you are totally right. My plan to do this is to ask the tour person very eatly when we get on the bus; I'll ask them how to get tickets to go up the tower hoping to have them when we arrive there. I'm not climing the tower though but DW and DD will.

Your DS still not comming ?

Hello All,

I am looking into booking some private excursions as I do not want to take out a mortgage to be able to do the Disney ones. I am looking at Rome in Limo. Our kids are 5 and 7 (girl and boy). We are looking at doing Pisa from La Spezia, Vesuvius and Pompeii from Naples, and a Rome highlights sort of thing from Citavecchia. If this appeals to another little group of 2-4 for any of those, let me know. The cost for a family of 4 is about 700 USD (per day trip) but it only goes up to about 850 if there is a group of 8.

Hi DDleffers :flower3:, our frinds from UK have arranged some private excursions and I think the Rome excursion had some spaces left. Send Bats (Private Tour Organizer) a private message so she can give you the correct information.

Also there's a thread called Ports on your Own which carries lots of information for the Mediterranean cruises. If you can't find it let me know and I'll give you the link.

Is Bats the actual user name?
Don't want to send to the wrong person!:)

Thanks for the reply

Hi Dee :flower3:

Is the maximum 8 or is there a slightly bigger one again? The only reason I ask is because my DH and son (aged 7) plus our friends (a couple with DD11) are planning to go to Pisa from La Speiza, but that would make 9 people (possibly 11 if myself and our younger son - 4yo joined you too).

Just thought it might be a viable cheaper option for everyone if they do have bigger vans/transport??

We are on the Rome tour with Bats and the Dibb crew - not sure if there is any space left now though - but worth asking.

Finally we are currently looking at booking an AP tour to Pompeii and a drop off in Sorrento to get the ferry back to Naples. Not a bad price and quite a short tour which is what we wanted after a long day in Rome.

Good luck with all of your planning:thumbsup2

What is an AP tour? I can look into the other things to see if we can have more people...

Hi Dee,:thumbsup2

AP are just another tour company much like Rome in Limo, I read about them on cruise critic and they had several positive reviews so I emailled them. They seem really competitive and thought I might give them a try.:thumbsup2

Wahoo we are on double digits now :thumbsup2 :dance3: :cheer2:

:yay:

So True Florida_Mel 100 days to be back on my ship :lmao:

Oh, BTW, I´M having sooooo much fun with all thát´s going in our Facebook page. You all are a wild party which makes it so much fun when we meet. :rotfl2:

Changing topic; today DCL anounced that in a few days The Wander is getting new linnen and/or bed wear; just like The Dream has which it's supposed to be awsome (maybe Bats, our Dream expert, can tell us some) so here's a lot of Pixie Dust pixiedust: and finguers crossed for the Magic to get it very soon too; any time before the Med Cruises will be fine. :goodvibes

The sheets were lovely and silky on the Dream .. felt like very expensive Egyptiann cotton. The mattresses were the most comfortable I've ever slept in!! :worship:
