I am not sure if anyone has mentioned this previously, but due to the on-going shut down in the US, the ESTA site is down. This could be a serious issue for anyone who is travelling soon and needs to obtain their ESTA.

I am trying to determine what people have to do because although this doesn't affect us directly because I have a visa and DW is a US citizen, it does affect someone I know. If anyone gets any further information on this could you kindly share it?

UPDATE: Apparently the site is now up and down, it's not constantly down now so perhaps it'll all be OK!

Yes, my friend who is going shortly after us contacted me panicking this morning and I went to the official site but it was down. It came back online shortly after, then went down again, which is why I updated my post. It seems to be up again now but it was touch and go earlier.

I got 2 ESTA's just yesterday, went through instantly so you can reassure your friend that it's still working despite the government shutdown thingy :)

Here's one about the shutdown :

DW came back from work and told me I needed to clear something up. Apparently her boss had just told her that, due to the shutdown, Disneyworld was closed like any government operating facility and he asked her what she was going to do in Florida for 3 weeks with every business closed ...

... mouth still gaping ...

:)

:lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl: Priceless! Can you imagine the outcry of the tax payers if Disney was government operated? Not to mention the guests.... not sure about anyone else but Imagineer and Government Official .... just can't get the two of them into the same sentence :rotfl:

Love it!!

Wow...

The ESTA site was definitely down earlier but I just looked again and it's fine now so maybe it was just a glitch. My friend was in full scale panic mode! It's not an issue for us because DW & DD are citizens and I have a visa (soon to be a green card ) but I would probably have been in full scale panic too.
