Is ESPN a good place for dinner? Is it like going to Applebees with a sports theme, or is there something unique about it? How is the food? Service? Thanks!

Thumbs up from my family. The food was better than an Appleby's but it is a sports bar. We went there on a cold night after a long, rainy day in the parks. We were pretty grumpy but had a good meal and fun in there. Our waitress was fun, they were having sports trivia going on and broadcasting from the radio booth inbetween periods of the hockey game.

Over xmas we went to the Chicago ESPN Zone, that one was HUGE! We had a lot of fun there too.

ESPN is better than AppleBee's or Chilis type places...
being in WDW helps though :)

really though, we have eaten at ESPN several times, for lunch & dinner, the food is consistently good, and the service is fine, not amazing, but good.

The atmosphere is pretty cool, they even have TV's in the restroom! :)

I wouldnt plan on going there for an amazing meal or experience, but it's a good choice for easy & relaxing dining,

Laura :)

I agree - it's a good place to quick a casual meal. In my experience, the food & service have been very good. As mentioned by other posters, there are TVs all over the place, all broadcasting various sporting events. The booths in the bar area also have video games that you can play. And, you must check out the TVs in the bathrooms!

We've eaten in the dining room and in the bar area and the food and service has been good. They make a pretty decent burger and great chicken wings.
My husband and sons are big sports fans so we always make a trip here during our stay.
I agree it's better than say Applebee's or Chili's, but it's that WDW atmosphere that makes it more fun.
Last May, my hubby and I got a table in the bar facing the BIG screen and stayed there at least 3 hours....Boston Celtics were playing Philly in the playoffs. The place was packed but we had a great time! Boston won that series BTW. Our server had no problem with this, we just spaced out our ordering over the time.

We always end up ESPN every trip (usually during March Madness). The food has always been great, and it's true that they never rush you if you are there to watch a game. We went to eat and watch Monday Night football one year, and they were great about it. ..unlike All-Star Cafe at WW of Sports...
Last year we went there (All-Star) and we waited for 2 hours - mobbed with cheerleaders. They advertised "Come watch NCAA tourney game", and towards the end of the game we were watching (7pm game) , they hovered over us, because the place closed at 9. Food was marginal, the waiter spill red wine all over DH, and we ended up between tables of cheerleaders throwing food at each other! The rest of the trip we went to ESPN!

We ate at the DTD ESPN Zone at the DLR in May and really enjoyed it, so we decided to try an early dinner at the ESPN Club on Fri., 1/17. I hate to say it, but I wasn't impressed. The Club is much smaller than the Zone and the menu is also very different. The service was good, but we all found the food to be pretty mediocre. My BIL and I had the roasted chicken with garlic mashed potatoes. The chicken was dry and I couldn't detect any garlic in the potatoes. The other entrees--a BBQ chicken sandwich and a fish sandwich, served with fries--were ok. Maybe we hit the restaurant on a bad night, who knows. But for the price ($50 for 2 adults and one child), I think you can do better. JMHO. Good luck! D

Another thumbs up here. We stayed at the Boardwalk Inn, so we stopped in for dinner here three different nights. It was never too crowded, and there was good service. The Roast Beef and BBQ sandwiches (both with fries) were great, as were the nachos. The cheeseburger was just OK, though. The atmosphere for my hubby and son, though, was tops.

Food is pretty good, and the sports viewing is awesome. It is pretty noisy, so if you want a quieter meal you might want to pass. But otherwise, its a blast!

We havw watched many a game from ESPN- football bowl games, NCAA finals in BB, or just a baseball game. Weve been in the big room and the bar.Always had a great time, usually eat to much, sometimes drink to much. Alwats part of our trip.:D

Thumbs up from my family too! The guys love going there, it is a really fun atmosphere and we think the food is great! They have really good burgers and a great wrap!

We have given up on this joint as after three auful visits...I just don't like cold food, warm beer & slow service...I don't know, mybe it's just me!:p :jester:

We visit ESPN a few times each trip, barring one slow experience a few years back we've always had a great time. The food, IMO, is much better than the usual sports bar or Chilis.

Go, have fun! :Pinkbounc

We have dined there at least once every trip and the group has always enjoyed it. Boys like the burgers and the sports on all the tv's. Always fun too check out all the sports memorabilla all over the walls. Reasonably priced for a Disney resort.

I will give this one another thumbs up;) My kids and I both enjoyed this on our last trip. The atmosphere is great, the food is good, and if you have kids.....they have Playstation at the tables. The cost was a little high, but I thought it was well worth it.

P.S. Don't forget to hit the gift shop on your way out!! I loved it in their.

Is this the place with the arcade right next to it....and if it is - is it accessable from inside...in other words - can the kids play in there while the adults watch the televisions?

Thanks

We've only eaten there once, but really enjoyed it. The food was good and the atmosphere very neat!

We plan on eating there again in June:D

Maybe we need to give it another try sometime. We were not impressed with the food. Actually, it was lousy for all 7 of us. Cool TV's, though!
