During my families trip to Orlando on Marathon Weekend, my wife and I had the chance to check out Escapology, a new room escape game that puts you up against the clock to try and escape from certain situations. Escapology is one of a few similar attractions in Orlando, but this one is by far the most intense one that I've seen.

This attraction is located at 11951 International Drive, in a young shopping center, becoming such an anchor for the area. As you walk in, the waiting room greets you with scoreboards, updates, back stories and plenty of other intriguing items. There are 3 story lines right now, with another one about to be opened up in April, 2015.

My wife and I had the chance to play Shanghaied. We have done one of these room escape games before in Charlotte, NC and I was blown away by the details that were put in to every part of this.

You and your competition, (for us is was a group of friends from the Orlando area) are taken into a back room where they play you a story about how you were tricked into getting onto a boat, and your goal is to escape the ship and gain your freedom. Once the video is complete you are lead by your GameMasters down a hallway into one of two completely identical rooms. The GameMaster will then tell you the safety rules, about the escape key in case of emergency. These rooms are side by side and are monitored by cameras to make sure that you are not doing anything stupid, and to maybe let your GameMaster give you some help along the way.

Once you enter the room, the large flat screen tv will then remind you of your back story, give you some safety instructions about and then they will start the timer. If you are alone, just a few of you, you will be against the clock to escape...but the cool thing about Escapology is the chance to challenge another team to escape quicker. The timer plays on the TV in the room along with some ambient noise to help set the mood.

I'm not going to go into too much detail about the game itself, because I don't want to give anything away(you have to see for yourself), but I can tell you this...it's so much fun. My wife and I ended up winning, and got our pictures taken in front of the photo screen which they posted onto their Facebook page.

As a group leader, my plan is to take my group here and use this as a team building exercise during our spring trip to the Orlando area. There is a conference room with computer access and a larger TV in the back that you can use. They also provide refreshments for you as you wait to begin your game. I hope you all get the opportunity to check this place out on your day off from the parks and exploring the rest of Orlando.

the website is www.escapology.com/orlando and they are really good and giving discounts....the prices are extremely competitive at around $25 per person.
