You know i was looking at twitter just now and I just have to say how depressing "real life" is sometimes. With all the news, and politics, and divide there is now a days...it is great to come here to escape all of that and escape into the world of disney.

I have just recently built up the courage to post but I have been reading everyday for the past 2 years now. And this place is so great. Idc if people are complaining about disney or praising it. This is just a great place to come and escape real life and discuss a passion that we all share.

So here is to you guys that give me an escape from the sometimes depressing real life we all live in. I hope to continue to post and join in on the discussions ( it took a lot for me to post, idk why. I'm shy) lol so thanks guy. And keep it up

I'm shy, too! My account is several years old, but I don't have many posts because I too tend to lurk. :) But there's a great community here, and I also appreciate the escapism it provides. I find myself coming here in times of stress to leave my troubles behind. I'm glad you've started to post, and that you're enjoying it!

Thank you. And that is one the main reasons I wanted to start posting. Because of the great sense of community you see on these boards

Welcome! I'll get the ball rolling. How do you feel about the following:

1) Rope drop or sleep in?
2) EMH. Must do or must avoid?
3) Saving spots in line
4) ECV boarding etiquette for buses
5) Stitch. Horrible ride, or worst ride ever?
6) Brazilian Tour Groups
7) Is there still a "slow time" at WDW?

That should keep this going for 10-20 pages...

Lmao yes indeed, I will say though...
1. Rope Drop
2. Depends, always do when MK is open till 3 am
3. No saving spots in line!
4. No problem with waiting an extra min for them to board ECVs. I have no idea if those people have something wrong with them and I'm not gonna assume to knoe
5. Couldn't pay me to go on that lol
6. As a ex cast member...don't get me started lol
7. I have to hope and wish there still is lol

I feel similarly to you! I lurked for a while but started posting recently. I do love to escape the real world and discuss Disney with like minded Disney fans like myself. So you're not alone in feeling the way you do!

Ex cast member? What positions did you hold? Would you ever do it again?

I too look forward to checking out the Disboards each day to connect with other Disney fans. I have learned so much from these boards!

Nice post, feel the same way.
Admittedly, looking back at my latest posts, they've been on the negative side with the cuts, closures, SWW cancellation, etc.
My ticker below says we're leaving 2 weeks from today, and truth be told, I can't wait. Been there many, many times, but to get out of reality for a week or so is needed.
Gonna try to be positive on the boards here on, but I'll call B.S. when I see it, even if it's the place my family loves.
Disney's falling short on many fronts, IMHO, and if history is an indicator, they'll listen to the feedback and get it right in the end. At least that's my hope for the next generation of families, as mine are older now, and sadly we seem to be ending our long friendship on a bit of a sour note.
We'll see how this trip goes, anyway...

Yes! In general I'm an "escapist". Books, movies/TV, music. When we decided to book a WDW vacation, planning for it and coming here became my favorite escape. I've read that thinking about and planning for a vacation can be almost as beneficial as actually being on one. So until I can physically be at the World, I go there mentally as often as I can. When life v is getting too stressful, I remind myself that in just over a month, my biggest concern is going to be where to watch the fireworks from and whether to hop to another park or take a break at the resort. Those hammocks at CSR keep popping into my head. And to tide me over, I come here to discuss important things like the best place to watch the Star Wars fireworks and what to order at Be Our Guest. My ignorance of real world goings-on since booking this trip is almost embarrassing. I'm already mentally in the Disney bubble!

I'm so glad you decided to post this. It's my daily pick-me-up, visiting the boards. An escape to something that always makes me happy!

I did the College Program last year and I did for about 7 months I believe it was. I was in the quick service F&B role. It was great to work for WDW (a dream come true for me) however it isn't as glamorous as some people think it would be. Once may hit I started working 13 hours a day and that sucked. But it was great to be able to go explore all of wdw on my off days. So I would do it again just In a different role. I couldn't see working there the rest of my life though

I did my horticulture internship at EPCOT back in 2000. It was a dream come true for me as well and I loved going to the parks after work (we worked from 6am to 2:30 or even earlier sometimes) and on my days off. I wouldn't want to live in FL though... after one summer I was so ready to see mountains again and a change of seasons. :)

I actually loved living in the Orlando area. There was so much to do and see it was nice. And I'm from new Orleans so I don't know what changing seasons are so that didn't effect me lol it is a bit hotter in florida though

I'm from Oregon and now live in Colorado, so I was definitely missing the mountains, lol. I did love working there though and feel really lucky that I was able to have that experience.
