DH and I had a memories wedding in May. We want to plan a vow renewal for May 2014. I called and of course I spoke with CM. I told her that we wanted an Escape wedding. We are planning on between 14 and 18 guests depending on if certain family members can make it to WDW. DH and I want our VR in Epcot, want to have brunch in the Attic and then have a DP. The CM I spoke with basically told me I should have a Wishes VR.
Does anyone have a opinions on either. I don't think we would meet the $12,000 min. She also told me it was $12,000 and that would include the 21% service fee. Is that correct. We really didn't want to spend that much on a VR. I know I should hear back from a WP in a few days but can anyone shed any light on the subject in the mean time?

... really? You can have an escape ceremony in Canada, and you can add a 2 hour reception at the Attic afterwards, all under the escape banner

The $12k for wishes certainly doesn't include the service charge... it doesn't for our wishes wedding in October 2014 that's for sure!!

You can do all that with an Escape wedding but you may find you come close to the Wishes minimum depending on certain choices you make but the service charge is on top of the $12K.

I always thought Disney was fairly strict on the escape vs wishes numbers. That being said, if you did escape in Canada (the only Epcot site available to escape couples), and then reception in attic followed by a dessert party, I suspect you would easily achieve the $8000 minimum expenditure for an escape wedding on the weekend, but you'd be adding quite a few extras to meet $12,000 for wishes. If you have $100/person between your attic reception and your dessert party, that's $1400-$1800 there plus $335 dessert party venue rental. You're under $9000 at that point. Hope that helps.

Thank you, it does help.

The only way that $12,000 for a Wishes event could include tax is if it's held on a day with a $10,000 minimum and you don't go a penny over it! :thumbsup2 The rep may just have meant that since you will be getting close to the Wishes minimum, you might want to bump up to Wishes to increase your options and flexibility. But if you can keep your Escape event to around $9,000 and the Wishes minimum is $12,000 for your day, no need to spend that extra money.
